The nice thing about Eagles Claw is that it has very good DPE. Though its DPS falls behind both Storm Kick's and Crane Kick's, its higher DPE means that its inclusion in an attack chain allows you to pump out more damage before you need to rest.
Also, its higher crit chance and 75% stun chance are pretty nice side effects.
Edit: changed the word 'lower' to 'higher' - bolded above. What a silly mistake. -
If Perma-Elude were truly possible, Hikaru, it would be a great respec build. But the Elude downtime in actuality is much too long for PvE, so just soft-capping all positional defences is probably a better idea.
AstralFire, your build is very similar to mine in terms of both power picks as well as actual numbers. The chiefest difference is probably that I sacrificed Elude for Super Jump. What can I say? I'm a lazy traveller.
Here's my build, FWIW:
All 3 positional Defences at 45%
Psionic Defence at 14.5%
Some S/L Resistance
307% Regen
Net End gain 2.17/s
+60% Recharge
Eagles Claw (3s activation/5.24s recharge) -> Dark Blast (1/2.93) -> Storm Kick (1/3.3) -> Crane Kick (2/4.92) -> Dark Blast (1/2.93) -> Boxing (1.07/1.38) is a single-target non-stop combo chain that does about 1,093.3 damage over 9.07s (120.5 DPS). It costs 32.63 End for a net End loss rate of 1.43/s, and is therefore sustainable for about 70s with 100 Max End. The length of this chain is just under 10s, so Focus Chi would not only last for the entire chain, it would affect the first Eagles Claw of the next cycle.
There is quite a bit of non-optimal slotting in there for character concept, but it's still a pretty strong build. Practised Brawler is perma with a level 10 IO, but I've been wondering whether to make it a level 50 IO for overlapping protection.

New addition:
1. How to make a few thousand influence at level 1.
Level 1
1. Obtain 2 medium inspirations from Outbreak tutorial. Do not use them. Instead, post them at Wentworth's for a low price so that they sell fast. They will likely fetch 2-10 thousand influence, allowing you to slot up your character completely for the first few levels. This task is not essential, but if you choose to do the tutorial you might as well do this.
2. Missions: First Atlas contact unlock inspirations if you intend to play in Recluse's Victory later on IMPORTANT! These contacts only give missions from levels 1-4!
3. Defeat: 25 Rikti Unexploded Bombs (Rikti Zone Invasion) Watchman
4. Defeat: 10 Rikti Heavy Assault Suits (Rikti Zone Invasion) Watchman
5. Defeat: 100 Rikti (Rikti Zone Invasion) Watchman
6. Level in: Atlas Park levels 1-5 or Galaxy City levels 1-5; or raid the Sewers on a Sewer Team from Atlas to Skyway quick XP from levels 1-7
Note: Items 3, 4 and 5 will be tough to complete after the Rikti Invasion world event of i10 ends. Only completing the Lady Grey Task Force will trigger a random Zone Invasion then, and it may take you all 50 levels to get these 3 badges.

Ha! That's an interesting one! I'll put an abbreviated version in.
-
Hm... is that it? Does anyone else have anymore to add to this list or is it safe to publish a final version now?
-
I really liked your guide, AstralFire. Great job on a first attempt! (Actually, great job for any attempt.
)
My own MA/SR is quite different than yours sounds like from your guide - largely because he was built around a very unforgiving character concept - but your advice is sound. The last bit on enemies to laugh at / watch out for is in my opinion particularly useful.
One note about triple-slotting though: with level 50 common IOs, triple-slotting gives hardly any benefit against double-slotting unless the quality being modified is numerically large enough in the first place. In Stamina, for instance, a 3rd slot is pretty much wasted. Consider:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
no stamina: 0% (1.67 End/s)
base stamina: 25%; +25% (2.09 End/s; +0.42)
1 slot: 35.6%; +10.6% (2.26 End/s; +0.17)
2 slots: 45.8%; +10.2% (2.44 End/s; +0.18)
3 slots: 49.8%; +4.0% (2.50 End/s; +0.06)
</pre><hr />
So, a 3rd slot is only worth about a third as much as either of the first 2 slots. In most cases, that 3rd slot would be worth a lot more as an EndRdx in a commonly used attack.
***
Practised Brawler can be made perma with just 1 Rchg IO if you have enough in the way of global recharge bonuses. Though PB stacking would be nice, it's not necessary in most cases. Also, its End cost isn't exactly low and having it fire off too often could be inefficient from an End management perspective.
***
Let me say once more in closing that this is a very nice guide. Good going, AstralFire! -
Here's the newest version of the list for now. Added:
1. Task Force levels

One note. I don't think you are ever offered the Nemesis Staff mission until after you hit lvl 31. I know neither me nor any of my SG mates ever did back when we were first getting it on all our characters.

Could anyone provide confirmation either way on this? -
Ah hell. The edit window's closed.

Very nice, Snarespawn! I'm linking to this from my Things To Do guide.

Just edited the list to include levelling zones. Information mostly stolen from Aett_Thorn and PsiBug.

Thanks, Bobitron_. Have you started on your Fire/ yet?

Nice suggestion on the red-side list! Would you like to do it?

No, as I don't have enough experience with the full range of red-side content yet.

My highest villain is only in his teens or twenties too. I don't even recall what level exactly!

The University tutorial doesn't get you much, really. The Inventor badge can be fun, but it's not useful and hence it's not in this list. The freebies you'd get from the tutorial aren't worth the trouble either, as I recall.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's useful to general badge hunters who don't merely focus on just the badges needed to acquire accolades. The freebies from the University quests and the IO enhancement you get may be small fry to a level 50, but they're useful to the lower level characters for which the tutorial was intended. I certainly wouldn't flush them down da terlet for the crime of not being worth 100 million. heh.

Oh, all right. I'm caving in and putting that Inventions tutorial in the list. -
Centinull:
- You're welcome. I actually did it for my own use, then posted it as an afterthought.

- Nice suggestion on the red-side list! Would you like to do it?
Destructor:
- Thanks for the catch! It was a cut-and-paste mistake. List amended.
Zloth:
- The Atlas contact thing is a great idea! Added to list.
- CoT Mages are a pain at 5. Note added to that entry.
- The University tutorial doesn't get you much, really. The Inventor badge can be fun, but it's not useful and hence it's not in this list. The freebies you'd get from the tutorial aren't worth the trouble either, as I recall.
- Fake Nems in the Shadow Shard, check.
- Excellent call on joining Vanguard. If I recall correctly, one just has to talk to Levantera and do a contact run, right?
- The level 50 TF stuff doesn't quite fit in this list, I'm afraid.
- Thanks for your many great suggestions! -

You can get the Raptor Pack at 5th level. The first 2 things I do on a new lowbie hero at the sound of the ding to 5 is head for the Hollows to tell Wincott to go play in traffic and then hit Kings for 3 quick scanner missions and a safeguard. I've never had trouble getting the temp fly power at 5th level.

Ah, very good, Thunderfire. Thanks for the confirmation! -

This was wonderful. Thank you.

Why, thank you, Aristoi. That was very nice of you to say.
I'm glad others find this list useful too! -

25 Rikti Bombs at level 7 or less? Wow, that would be like pulling teeth. You do nothing to them at that level.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd have thought it would be more like getting your teeth pulled.
Soloing Rikti Bombs at low levels is generally pretty pointless, but you could always join an ad-hoc invasion team even at level 1 and gain the badges in fairly short order. The only question that remains is: would it be leeching?
Edit: Ah, I see now that I didn't make myself clear in the original post. I'd meant to say that one could start to work on the Watchman/Watchwoman badge from level 1, not that it has to be achieved in the first 7 levels. Edited the first post for clarity. -

It's been my experience that you can't get the jet pack from the Atlas bank job until you've leveled and trained to level 6 (not 5). I remember having to do it 3 times on one character before he got the jetpack.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hm...really? I thought it was level 5. Does anyone out there know for sure whether it's level 5 or 6? -
I've just edited the second post and added badge locations.
Note that map coordinates are in x-z-y format.
The first number tells you whether to move East (right) or West (left). Bigger x value = further to West (left) of map.
The third number tells you whether to move North (up) or South (down). Bigger y value = further to South (bottom) of map.
You can ignore the second number (z) most of the time.
Together, the numbers work something like this:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
Demonstration of 1337 ASCII skills
--------------------------------------------
(100, 0, 0) (0, 0, 0)

(70, 0, 20)

(90, 0, 90)

(0, 0, 100)
--------------------------------------------
</pre><hr />
Now, one problem with the system is that the origin point (0, 0, 0) of any CoH map is not fixed at any of the corners as one might expect. It tends to float somewhere in the middle of the map. In the ASCII example above I fixed the origin in the NE corner just to make the example useful, but you will never find such a situation in practice.
Hence, we tend to see both positive and negative numbers for all three coordinates. Just thought I'd warn you before you got confused. -

Now, if you have other tasks to add to the list, please feel free to post in this thread. In any case, happy mishing!
Edit: Added badge locations, amended entries, etc. -
Trying to figure out which AV I was missing on my 50 troller for his Portal Jockey badge got me irritated enough that I decided to go and compile a level-based to-do list so that my lower level alts would not have to go through the same frustration.
So, I spent several hours with the Paragon Wiki and eventually came up with the following list of things to do. Doing the tasks on this hero-side list should let a player unlock all the useful accolades, the cape and aura costume options, and the extra costume slots. I have also included tasks leading to temporary powers that I deem particularly useful.
Certainly, some of these tasks can be accomplished at a much lower level than as listed if someone high enough in level is willing to let you tag along as a Sidekick. However, since I don't want to encourage people begging for SKs in order to get their accolades earlier, I'm not going there.
On a related note, almost all these tasks can also be performed at higher levels than as listed. If you don't fancy fighting for your life against yellow- and red- con CoT mages at level 5, you could always hit the Hollows in your 20s and mow them down without risk instead. The only exceptions are those tasks involving level-bounded missions. While you could do those missions at any level at all, you can only obtain the missions within certain level ranges. I highly recommend that you obtain those specific missions (see red text in list below) as soon as you level into the respective ranges.
Having experienced in the past the frustration of missing out on certain badges (Spelunker), I make a bid to help others in the same situation whenever I can. If I am about to start a mission that leads to a sought-after badge solo, I usually make a couple of zone broadcasts inviting people of any level who need the badge to join me. Sure, I end up with no XP for these missions sometimes, but it's really a small sacrifice. I would like to make a request of those of you who find this list useful to invite others to your Fortuneteller, Doctor and Anti-Matter missions as well.
For difficult hunts (Banished Pantheon Spirits, for instance), it might be a good idea to ask via broadcast if anyone else in the zone is hunting the same thing. Teaming up with any such people stops you from working at cross purposes with one another and could net you the badge more quickly than if you were solo. Each member of the team would gain full credit from a team kill.
Lastly, I'm not a serious badger. No, I don't mean I'm a frivolous mustelid. What I mean is that I'm usually only interested in badges that come with benefits. That being the case, my list only involves badges of the useful variety. If you are a badge collecting addict and need to catch 'em all, you would be well advised to cross-reference this list with a badge list from somewhere else. BadgeWhore would be a likely place to start from. Snarespawn's level-restricted badge checklist would also be very, very useful to you. Of especial note is the Isolator badge, which can only be (sort of) easily obtained if you go through the tutorial on character creation.
Now, without any further ado, here's the Issue 10 List of Things To Do At Each Level:
Edit: The list of caveats and recommendations keeps growing. -
Now, what I actually use on my teleporting characters is a shade more complex. For flexibility, my teleporters all have access to both the shift-click method as well as the single-click method.
You know the shift-click bind as well as I do, so we won't go there.
For the single-click method, though, the following points are of note: <ul type="square"> [*]I use RightControl + RightShift to toggle me in and out of Teleport Mode. This way, I can't accidentally go into TPmode in the middle of a fight and thereby commit unintended suicide.[*]Since I HoverPort, I make sure that Hover is toggled on whenever I go into TPmode.[*]But I do not toggle Hover off when I exit TPmode, in anticipation of those times that I decide to stop travelling while high up in the sky.[*]Since one single key combination works to switch TPmode both on and off, I send a tell to myself with each switch so that I am well aware which mode I am in.
TPmode.txt:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>RControl+RShift "t $name, Normal stance!$$bind_load_file .\keybinds\TPoff.txt"
LButton "powexecname Teleport" </pre><hr />

<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>RControl+RShift "t $name, Teleport stance!$$powexec_toggleon hover$$bindloadfile .\keybinds\TPmode.txt"

The central bind:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>RControl+RShift "t $name, Teleport stance!$$powexec_toggleon hover$$bindloadfile .\keybinds\TPmode.txt" </pre><hr />
Feel free to use this method if you think it'd work better for you.
Happy teleporting! -

I'm not sure those would work, JonahY. As I understand it, you would need to create a bind file if you want to load binds with key presses.
First, you would have to create a file for the Teleport Mode situation. Let's call it TPMode.txt. This file needs the following line in it:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>LButton "powexecname Teleport" </pre><hr />
Next, you'll have to create another file so that you could exit Teleport Mode. Let's call it TPoff.txt.
