But it's so hard to be witty on demand.

Still, I have to wonder why you think your opinion is so much better then anyone else's. Granted, I wasn't necessarily providing a critique, so much as I was an evaluation of what I actually found appealing about it - a distinction I am very careful to make in threads where critique is not specifically requested.

An evaluation can be a critique, and a critique may be a form of evaluation, but not every evaluation need be a critique, and not every critique needs to specifically be negative. Or was that one a bit too complex for you?

You do seem to respond negatively to people using big terms.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I respond negatively to people using big terms to pad their overwise flimsy arguments.
And in my first post I said it looks good, but the background is bad. And I stand by it.
Oh yeah one more thing, you know what evaluate means right? It means to judge something, and you judge something by weighing the good aspect with the bad. Please actually undertand the "big" words you type before using them. Kthx.

    [ QUOTE ]

I was also not aware that I was attempting to improve Doug's work at all - I have to say, that would be entirely presumptuous of me, considering he's clearly got things up to a level that he's personally happy with, and that he can make a living off of. I don't go about trying to improve happy people. I try to avoid fixing things that I don't feel are broken.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you actually read the OP?
Here's the tl;dr version: I want to make covers for Marvel.

My response: You need to get better.

As I said, if you think it's good enough, leave it as it is go send it to them.

    [ QUOTE ]

Oh, wait. Was that witty enough for you? Or should I try harder?

:/ If I do, could you manage to be slightly more entertaining? This is getting boring and repetitive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why do you keep posting if you think it's boring and repetitive?

    Also:
    Try harder.

Uh...ok? Don't know what that has to do with anything but ok.

Look this is just a forum for sharing artwork. We just come here to view fanart. Doug never asked for nor needed your unsolicited critique. You seem to just want to puff up your own ego by pretending to be some sort of professional artist (or "art drawer" as you put it). kthnkbai

    [/ QUOTE ]

When you post it on a public forum, isn't it implied you want feedback? Maybe you should write "only postive feedback" next time then.
  3. [ QUOTE ]

    Let's break it down, then.

'You're the' = You are the only. Only what? I'm the only typing up paragraphs? Why does that make any sense? Even in the context it seems rather poorly worded and constructed - I'm not sure what you're trying to get at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You really don't understand what I tried to type? Oh ok, all I have to say is lol...

    [ QUOTE ]

But, hey, keep on being insulting and negative if that's what makes you feel better. Great job being constructive and helpful. You're just furthering my point that you've no idea what you're doing or how to be objective about it, in the end. :3

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you serious? Guys picking at how I critique telling me how to be helpful? Did you say anything about the artwork apart from "it's good" in this thread at all? It doesn't even matter how I said anything, the end goal is he might get better if he listens to what I have to say, he definitely won't if he listens to you. Is that simple enough for you to understand?

But please come up with another witty remark completely unrelated to the discussion.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
I can say I'm a NASA Astronaut and I've been up to the international space station, therefore I am qualified to comment on all maters space and physics related.

    That doesn't make it true.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Because that's objective. For christsake.

    [ QUOTE ]

If you are who you say you are and want people to respect you (or at least tolerate you at this rate), you better have some proof. Especially if you're touting yourself as the best professional artist drawer on the forum.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Un if you don't agree with me, please give your opinion on why you think it's fine, noone says anything to deny what I'm saying (well except for that one guy who says it's baseless). As I said in an earlier post. You take it if you want.

Oh lol. Ok, keep dodging the question. I'm sure it's a flawless piece of art in your eyes.

For the record I have a playset of Serras. No, I'm not just hating on him

[/ QUOTE ]Dodging the question? Hello pot, this is the kettle. What exactly ARE your credentials as a critic?

Critics need credentials? I guess you actually believe movie, art, and music critics are all former A list Directors, Artist and Musicians? Go back to bed please.

EDIT: Also, for clarification, could you please explain what 'you're the only typing up paragraphs of response' means? Because, honestly, I can't be arsed to care if I can't understand your jibba-jabba, foo'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ahahahahahahhahahahah. You really don't understand what I was trying to say? Ahaha, oh wow, please, go back to elementary english. A gradeschool can figure it out given the context. I can see now you're typing loads of words to make yourself sound more intelligent than you really are.

I also like how you bring up other unrelated threads, just like when someone's at the end of their argument.

edit: before you ask me, I meant grade-schooler when I typed gradeschool. Ok?

  8. [ QUOTE ]

I'm also, frankly, well aware of how the creative industry works, as I've talked with newspaper, magazine, and book editors before. I'm also fully aware that the majority of them have been polite, even while they were tearing my works down and setting them on fire. I'm not sure where you get this idea that being polite and respectful leads to hippy flower dancing - that's, in my opinion, laughable, because most of the time I think of it, I think of it more in terms of a debate room floor - where I don't have to like you, I don't have to agree with you (and I probably won't, just because that's what I'm there to do), but that doesn't mean I have any right to insult you when it's your argument and how you present it that's my real target. There's plenty of ways to tear someone down while, at least outwardly, seeming to be polite and respectful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You realize showing some guy your portfolio at a Comic-con is not the same as when you work for them right? Why? Because when you work for them, they pay you. And you better believe they want to get the $ worth, if it mean asking you to redo the whole thing everytime you get a dot in the wrong place.

    [ QUOTE ]

You also seem to be, still, of the impression that what you do is any way, shape, or form considered proper critique, and not just baseless mudslinging. Which I really find depressing, because if this is all the effort you're putting into this, you're even less interesting then previously indicated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok then...because from here it looks like you're the only typing up paragraphs of response.

As for the baseless mudslinging...lol. So you're saying Everything I'm pointed out is wrong? If it's not...it's not baseless, please understand wtf you're talking about.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
If the professional artist with decades of experience wants his art critiqued, I doubt he'll turn to the "artist drawer" who thinks "lefted" and "pickyer" are words to do it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't turn to anyone, you post your art like he's doing right now, ask for feedback and pickout which critiques you think are valid. If you think everything I said is because of my untrained eyes or whatever or your stuff is on par with what's in the industry right now, don't take any critiques, just go ahead and send it to Marvel and Pixar.

For someone who claims to have the credentials and backing to critique work (which, when you posted your original thread, I did indeed question - I am fully willing to admit that I'm therefore biased in this regard), you sure do seem to completely lack anything even remotely approaching professionalism, and seem more interested in forum-street cred (because you one hard [censored], what what) then anything else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ahahaha. Have you being in any sort of production company? You'd be lucky if your editor even tells you what to fix. They just tell you to "redo it better" (but they're mostly idiots so...).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't want to say anything else... but.... I have to for this one. Not only did you totally skirt the question of credentials... but did you call yourself an idiot? You've been touting that you're trying to be hard-nosed like an editor, and then said they're mostly idiots!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you're saying you only take critiques from people with credentials? lol. I guess everything I point out is non-existent, and the picture is perfect.

Yeah most editors are idiots. Ok...?

Uh ok, she said she wants to do pin-ups for Marvel in her post. The rest of the forum basically says "omg so good, no critiques". I'm saying it's not Marvel quality, and I'm the bad guy, ok then. Really I was going to just keep it short (see my post on the first page) until fanbois tried to call me out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I'm fairly certain you're the bad guy for being non-constructive, rude, snarky, and a total [censored], but that could just be my opinion of things. You certainly haven't shown any desire to be anything but, at least in this thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What's you definition of constructive critique? I'm curious.

    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]

Otherwise, you would've actually stated things in a helpful and informative fashion rather then throwing vitriol around without any real productive reasoning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What not helpful about pointing out your flaws? That's more helpful than some vague response, say "hmmmm, the background could be better". Like in some art school by some professor too chicken to give proper critiques because they might drop her class(I've had a bunch of those).

    [ QUOTE ]

Especially when it's, for the most part, fairly unsolicited (I don't recall anything in the OP stating a critique was necessary, but hey, I'm human, I could be wrong, and I'll adjust this post as necessary upon further review) in addition to all of the above mentioned (and implied) faults.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Posting on a public forum and not expect/want critiques...uh ok. So..why are you posting...?

    [ QUOTE ]

Clearly, being appreciative of someone else's hard work and dedication makes me a fangrrl, but I'm not above giving a professional (sounding - I make no illusions that I am not a professional anything except maybe pervert or jerk) opinion when it's specifically asked for. I don't feel the need to throw it around like I'm somehow important or special, nor do I go off on passive-agressive fits when my poor behavior is pointed out (to my recollection, at any rate).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh if I wasn't appreciative of people's hard work I wouldn't give critique at all. I'd just say "[censored] sux" and move on.

My darling Valentine's Day Drawer... all of us here know you're not pointing out flaws to be helpful. You want a little negative attention and maybe some flame wars starting. We get it. Had you REALLY wanted to help anyone you've critiqued thus far, it would have been in a different tone.

That being said, brutal honesty is helpful in the right settings. I know some professors are just as blunt. If you think you can really help people out and spread your undeniable expertise far and wide, you might want to try some dedicated art forums... not a little fan art section for an MMO. That is, of course, if your real intentions are what you say they are!!

Isn't that the same person who said I spelled Reigndance wrong?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes.

He has mis-interpreted many of the details of the piece (such as her placement on a dais in the middle of a giant sphere and the consoles being articulated to move up and down), but it's easier to just ignore him.

He has the right to dislike my art, and I have the right to skip over his posts as irrelevant.

Lol. Keep doing that, and see how far you get with Marvel. Protip: Every editor in the industry is at least 10x pickyer than I am.

Ok then. The ceiling looks to low/character look too big. She looks like she's gonna hit her head when she stands up.
The chair is way big compared to the control panel. Does she need to lean down to use it?
The shading on the metals looks plasticy, specially under the chair. And the support for the control panel looks like it needs lots more work(looks like a poly cube that's been extruded 3 times with a lambert slapped on and then lefted it there).

    "All the old PvP'ers left..."

I keep hearing that, but I sure don't see that in the pvp zones.

Old pvp RV was a ghost town...now I always find darth noobians to pound on.

In other words..."You have figured out one of the 100 reasons why 90% of the PvP playerbase quit the game when I13 came out" is flat out WRONG. It just simply isn't true. Your friends on your friendlist might have quit, but methinks they weren't all that good to begin with when their FOTMs lost some of their inherent advantages in old pvp.
