some things i understand, but why do we have to be continually penalized for thier mistakes? if i started doin' the equivalant of what they're doing in my business, to my costumers, i'd very quickly be out of a job. but maybe that's the point. maybe they're all so disgruntled with thier bosses that they're intentionally pissing-off thier costumer base. (I know it's a long shot and very unlikely. but, why on earth would all this crap get through?!) -

Not at all.
I got it well before brainstorms ever existed. So did every other person who really wanted it. Fabricator is an epic badge. It was obviously intended to require epic level effort to receive. So a later issue has a feature that makes it much easier to get the epic badge, but that ability was unintended, how does the removal of that feature somehow retroactively mean that the badge was never intended to be epic in the first place? Heck, when Fabricator's requirements were set the Devs probably hadn't even considered removing base salvage yet or creating the whole Brainstorm system.
The badge is still available (not like some >cough<. Anyone can still get it the same way everyone else got it prior to i13. Easy-mode for this badge has been removed, that's all.

Master Craftsman isn't impossible for a character to get sub-40, especially if they are crafting for most of their levelling. That series of badges counts ANY use of a crafting table (converting base salvage as well), and the other badges needed for the Accolade get you almost halfway to Master Craftsman on their own.

The "1000" badge is for any use of the crafting table... making base items, converting Salvage, etc. all count towards it. Not just Enhancements.

A temptingly-easy response to this situation would be to special-case RttC, possibly by creating some sort of partial suppression in PvP that still preserves some factor of needed combat defense for the powerset.

isn't that why we play this game? for the rewards? whatever that may mean to the individual.
i had nothing against farming personally. i have nothing against the merit system (other than what has already been stated in this thread) either. farming will never go away, whether it be farming for infamy/drops or merits.
reward is why we play this game. whatever the "reward" is. for some it's simply the joy of the game. for others it's to be the best. and yet for others it's to chill with thier buds. this is comparing apples to apples (imo) when you get right down to it.
i had friends that could do the Cap TF in 22-30 mins for a rare at the end. now it's 10 merits.
ITF used to take those same friends 80-100 mins for a rare. now they've got it down to 40-55 mins for 25 merits. see where this is going?
no matter what the devs decide to implement as a reward system, they will ultimatly fail in thier root cause (sorry devs, i love ya but that's the truth as far as i can see it).
blanket solutions (again, imo) are only going to cause more work and more headaches. merits i think, fundamentally, are a good system. but call it what you will, at some point, we're all repeating content for the sole purpose of reward. -
has anyone noticed the begining of a tunnel IN PO? Cap and PO are on the same island, right? why not have a very indirect route from PO to Cap and vice versa. along the way there could be all sorts of baddies, basically anything that could possibly dwell under ground, and then some! there could be a crey (or insert any pre-exsisting Corp. or military org.) testing facility down there, a couple a TFs and a couple a new contacts as well (like The Ghost Widow TF (or insert any pre-exsisting villain char complete with lore and art)). part hazard zone--unco-oped-- and part vanilla stand around and chit-chat zone, with 60-80% of in-zone mobs/spawns conning to attackers level.

I still say this ... make the Shadow Shard accessible to Villains and Heroes like the RWZ. Shadow Shard is a very very well thought out and great story-lined place that is used very little. The 4 TF's that take place there are also pretty fun (excluding the first one that takes like 28 hours...). Other then that idea. I wouldn't mind seeing something different on Red side, most of the zones look the same ... with different names until Grandville. OH, and a new Pocket D would be nice!!! :P

what about a purchasable (with prestige), and destroyable door option? in addition to that, multiple door options, like vault doors, regular wooden doors, draw bridge, iron strapped heavy wooden doors, wrought iron gates (see through), garage doors, heavy security alloy doors (futuristic type stuff), heavy roll down gates (like the ones on some parking garages), etc, etc, etc......
group leaders could have an option upon entering the base to close all/shut all (or somethin'??). during raids friendlies could open doors, but while open invaders could sneak by.
also i'd like to see single cords or multiple and varieing sizes as decrative floor items.
also everything in some warehouse maps: car lifts, tool racks, cabinets (those red craftsman types). just to name a few.
btw, is there a sexy base dev? in case there is, "Oh please sexy base dev whose name i don't know!!" -

the ability to place defensive turrents on cielings and walls.
in addition to that: shading, textures, color options for all defensive items.
and still operational defensive items that look destroyed or broken or in different states of disrepair.
also ambient sounds, other than the hum of generators and such. things like birds doin' bird stuff, wind, traffic, people talking, other animals, surf, fog horns, etc, etc.......... -
