    for the Black Mage style I'd go with some sort of casting time which could be implemented 2 ways...

    as you cast you have to "cast" fire and timer ticks off then you have to cast fire again with each element having it's own timer cast.

    or

    you can plug in the combination and then just have the one timer for the particular power

    Either way it would take time and probably player memory to do the really good powers so there is a high mistake cost on there. So you could say make the black mage have ice blast, but that ice blast is weaker and/or take more time to cast than the instant 1 that the ice blasters get.

    You're think...well now the power set is too weak, but then you're probably not taking into account that you could combine ice and fire to make a slowed down enemy that is taking damage over time so that missing damage is made up, if you're good at strategy. You could also make an argument that the spells that require more memory would be more specific and more powerful so you could make it so only 1 or 2 spells are really effective against, say, Clockwork King.

    The negatives in the original is that you are losing that neutral buff and you are relying on other powers to really pull you through. You wouldn't have the "buffs" "debuffs" etc from you other set like you'd normally have for example in Regen which gives you healing and defense bonuses and it's either a toggle or always on or a cast. Elemental would make it so if you want that regen factor you'd have to drop your defense or if you want more attack you have to switch to that.... Really good people could perhaps switch on the fly, but i guarantee that a lot of people would have to stop and think about it.

    So the "give up" is that you really only get one at a time and you have to think about what you are in at the moment and what you need to be in. The entire build would be about strategy...

    Before the retcon, Bruce Wayne had pretty much said outright and admitted to himself that Selina Kyle was the love of his life. Taking his mask off in front of her was this amazingly important ordeal (unlike the new JL where Bruce is like "O HAI GREEN LANTERN IM BRUCE WAYNE WANNA HANG OUT SUMTIME?").

    The current Catwoman takes place, emotionally, before this admission. But, we know that Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle are fated lovers and what not; hell, odds are Bruce Wayne will never love anyone after Selina (hello, Batman Beyond). So, people are whining about the portrayal of Catwoman and Batman sleeping together are prett much lambasting all romance stories. What's next, whining over Romeo and Juliet?

    Jeez, meanwhile, Voodoo is hyper-sexual and cutting people's limbs off and everyone is like "BUT CATWOMAN WAS TEH NUDEZ"

    /end rant

    Edit: look, you want to complain about Grace Choi? Maybe Cheshire (especially her!), fine, i can understand this (dont agree, but i can understand). But don't give me this crap. And Hal Jordan will wait til he's married to Carol before sleeping with her again, right? Tsch.

    /end more rant.
    And that really hits at the heart of it which is that people really don't know what "sexism" means. They take it to mean something about treating women like sex dolls... which it's not. It can include that, but that can also be perfectly alright. I find Batwoman to be extremely sexist yet every time I point out how much the character that are in that comic and that are not that should be are treated to make women in such a way that is negative towards both men and women I get yelled at because there are key things that she is or does not do... for example she wears a pretty full costume, she's a lesbian, she fights crime, she's been in the military... all of that is great and was established by other writers and artists. The comic that is out now is sexist garbage. It's removed all men for the most part, devalued every female charactered from where they should have been, every issue the characters are stripping, and you could continue on, (it also has tons of gore in it) but because it's not overtly showing flesh it's considered a great role model for women... It seems to me that these people have lost their minds and their memories...

    On the other hand you have Voodoo, Cat Woman, Starfire, and Power Girl who show flesh, but at the same time they are very powerful and in charge of what and who they are. They show flesh because they want to. They have sex cuz they want to and or are in love...They stand on equal ground with their male counter-parts. They also, funny enough, don't have gore, in their books.

    This is part of why I've redefined what i consider porn in my vernacular... which is that Porn is stuff that is used for shock and/or don't add anything to the character, story, or whatever i'm looking at. So nudity to me isn't pornographic, however Angelina Jolie in the shower in Tomb Raider is. Likewise Cat Woman getting it on with Batman isn't, but all those scenes where Batwoman and Flamebird are stripping are.

    it's a little bit worse than doing 10 powers sets... what I'm suggesting is taking every power and wrapping it in another layer of code that adds a new stat bonus thing... The most efficient way i can think of doing it is doing some sort of method check on powers that looks to see if element is the power set and what power is active...

    Remember that the idea is that the element addition is the primary idea and it is more or less I want it added to other powers... like say allowing you to select all power pool sets or applying elements to weapons.

    But i like your idea to though I'd call that more along Black Mage style casting which is awesome but I'd do it more like...

    instead of each move being a power I'd make it so that each power is a type of elements and then you have to input a combo

    fire->fire->ice = Fog
    fire->wind = flame thrower

    You'd have to have an "end" power though so you can put together any number of combination and lengths that change what you're doing...

    Perhaps I'm insane, but this to me seems like an awesome idea...

    Basically, the idea is that this power set allows you to select an element that is applied to all your other powers. The Primary set applies the type to whatever else you are using... The secondary is attacks and such

    <<Elemental Primary>>
    none = damage buff
    Ice = Slows
    Fire = DoT
    Earth = Increases Resistance
    Wind = Gives end
    Lightning = Drains end
    Wood = Heal self
    Steel = Increases Defense
    Water = Heals targeted
    Unified = Does all at once without the lose of the damage buff for a short time (obviously!)

    <<Elemental Secondary>>
    Strike = a punch

    Kick = a kick

    Wall = Sets up an object that acts as physical barrier that can take attacks that when touched hits with the added element

    Aura = Applies an aura on you that adds the element to you and/or to those around you.

    taunt? = I couldn't come up with a 9th power but this seems like a brawler type power

    Circle Wave = A circular wave outward of the element attack... for example if you were to punch the ground with earth element a wave would extend out from there in a circle...

    Path = A straight line attack of the element...

    Life Path = A power that activates after death or right before death of you or your target. Water for example might heal your entire party once while your dead. Fire might revive you. Steel might give a big buff to defense when your hp is low.

    Singularity = Causes all mobs and PCs to be drawn to you and then be exploded causing a random effect of perfectly healed, immunity, to killed instantly, or even thrown across the room.

    Grapple Swing

    Power Pool set to add Swing...

    Grapple Pull: Pulls a mob or multiple mobs to you.

    Wrap up: Wraps an enemy up to prevent them from attacking or wraps up the legs of an enemy so they can't move (so the enemy can't move or can't attack for a short period of time)

    Swing: Let's you swiiiiing

    Hang On: toggle, allows that when you are swing around someone to attach onto you and swing

    Reel in: targeted grapple shot that when it hits pulls you quickly to that point
  9. If you haven't seen the trailer for this, go find it. Can't post it here as it may be NSFW. It's a movie from Bobcat Goldthwait about a guy who is about to commit suicide but sees something on tv that makes him change his views and instead of killing himself starts to kill jerks. At leas that's what the trailer seems to show. There is one scene in particular that made me bust laughing yeah, go see it. I bet you'll laugh!

On the other hand, saying women are less able to tolerate that *is* specifically targeting women.

    Which is not to say that there isn't sexism in comic books and comic book art in general. Just that the thesis that its obviously prejudiced against women *because* men don't care is illogical. It is ironically a sexist position.

    It is obviously true that female characters are more *overtly* sexualized in many ways, but that would be a matter of degree. It would undermine the entire thought process to declare that the less overt sexualization of male characters is actually *also* sexist towards women because men like it. It is so illogically undermining that it damages the point equally so if the statement itself is either true or false.
    It doesn't hurt to also point out that most comic readers are by the very nature of their environment unable to distinguish when something is truly being sexualized, over-sexualized, or them just being prudish since we live in a puritanical society where sex is considered more abhorrent to show than rampant violence.

    Go read 'Tec #1 & 2 and Catwoman #1 & 2. There are hyper violent scenes in there with tons of gore. Yet most instead of going "wtf are we showing our kids" when they see a guy bite a chunk of another guys neck out they only focus on the fact that Catwoman sexes it up with the Bat... And likewise they say nothing when in 'Tec #2 a guy strips his shirt off to climb an indoor mountain thing. Out of all the **** in those 4 comics, you know what concerns people the most? Batman and Catwoman making love... That to me screams a messed up culture.

  12. Marvel's Civil War and that whole area of Spider-Man comics... that was so bad. I was curious about those comics as it was an interesting premise, but it was SO bad. I struggled to get through it because it's so badly handled and once I read it almost all the wa up to OMD... my brain was like "You know, it seems like they were trying to make things as bad as they could possibly make them so they could justify OMD..."

    Is there anyway that we can have it so we can turn on/off the glowy bits?
    I think it is no, but not sure. I would think that if it is it would change which one i voted on.
  15. It makes me wonder if the argument is "No woman would wear that if they could and every man would wear that if he could" then why do we see so many women in skin tight dresses or latex or what not in real life while speedos and such are nearly universally unliked by men and they refuse to wear them even when they can...

    Also... yes there are plenty of examples of women that show cleavage at work... in fact i believe there are fashion option specifically made for that aren't there? Wasn't there a woman politician razzed about that in 2011?

    Actually it depends on how that base layer was made in terms of costuming. I don't think Power Girl talked about sewing her costume from nothing. See so either there was nothing there to begin with and why add a weird symbol piece of cloth when you could just leave it as it or there was some fabric there and she cut it out....which would also be weird to do... So if we take her explanation and think it through more than likely the hole was already there when she got the costume piece and she just left it.

    personally i think the whole issue is rather stupid as there is nothing wrong with it to begin with and people are just trying to **** shame a fictional character when there are analogues in fashion in both the real world and in the comic world that are more exposed or similarly exposed.

    I don't see the point of going "you're just trying to show off your chest!" and I don't see it as a valid argument. You're talking about fashion. The whole point of fashion in the modern world is to be aesthetically pleasing either to show off what you have or to hide it so it looks like you don't have it. So going "You're just doing it to make yourself look good" is a "Reallly? I wouldn't have guessed!" moment.

    But then as some have pointed out... it's actually Power Girl being more conservative than she has to be because clothes are a functional and for Power Girl they serve no function so she's not walking around naked just to not show off as much as she could because she'd get problems... In other words her not showing off is causing what she is trying to cause not to happen if she did show off...

    I explained this a while ago when it was fresh in my head, but basically if you look at Red Hood you could take it as a meta critique of the new direction of DC or the over all direction of DC over whatever many years someone wants to start counting at.

    Starfire is dressed in as few clothes as possible and is sexed up and forgets everything every 5 minutes yet the next issues she is very conservative.

    Jason in issue 3 knows the memory he lost and also says he doesn't want it back even though it's his most precious memory

    There are 2 new organizations both of which have names like they are making fun of the fact that there are ton of new secret new organizations

    if you read into it is sounds like Lobdell is giving us his opinion on the DCnU and making fun of it to a degree, but it could also just be that he's really really really just including all those bad points from those other comics and my brain just broke during issue 3 and started to make stuff up to protect itself from the shear badness of it ^.^
  18. I think the writer is just picking on things that are popular for the most part rather than having actually looked at the reality...

    Power Girl's explanation works

    Starfire's retcon is genius as a meta critque if you read red hood which seems to be a meta critique

    Wonder Woman is a common go to and is completely wrong, but whatever

    Sue's costume change actually works best when you think about it 3 dimmensionally. She got her powers because she felt "invisible" it only makes sense that she'd try to spice up her clothing to feel less so especially when she is around a giant boulder man, a human torch, and a guy that get's wrapped up in things that she is trying to get busy with.

    Namor was just thrown in to throw off hate mail writers and to discuss a point which is less than well done, but still true more or less.
  19. *cough* shields don't seem to work for me... they all are grey circles shields with no difference...
  20. Changing the First Valkyrie to Omnicore... Red side needs some love too... so please change your vote TonyV and Olantern to reflect those changes...

    Also General CoH has been ok with anything related to CoH in general from what i can see... Forum games are more along the lines of... I'm not exactly sure really as i can't think of as many as there are there...
  21. Fathiim the Kind can be beat! Popularity will triumph...somehow. I was thinking about adding Hamidon ^.^

    I had all the Giant Monsters listed at one point but then removed them save for Fathiim cuz I couldn't remember the name so I don't think too many are going to call him the winner over everyone based on that alone.

    It's hard to keep track of 100 names which is why Infernal is in twice...accident, but we'll just say it's fair because the second one is Praetorian Infernal... I'll change that now.

    Also... these can all be found on Paragon wiki cuz that's where I found em all... though not much data on some.

  23. I think this'll be fun >.> So here we go I listed 100 characters from City of Heroes and now we're going to vote on who wins from those matches and continue on until there is only 1 winner who is the most awesome CoH character evers! or something like that...

    How it will work... When I list the round you get to vote on each match up once. The winners will be declared 5 days after they are put up... so
    Round 1 ends Feb 4
    Round 2 ends Feb 9
    Round 3 ends Feb 14
    Round 4 ends Feb 19
    Round 5 ends Feb 24
    Round 6 ends Feb 29
    Winner declared Mar 5

    Obviously there will be slight problem with the number of contestants. For that for round 3-5 when I make the list the last char to get randomly selected will be seeded to the next round automatically.

  25. Looking at those covers is like looking at a cavalcade of crappy art v.v

    The idea is dumb as is the notion of "Mutants" being outcasts in a world full of superheroes...

    We hate Jean Grey because she's a mutant, but Ms. Marvel is ok because she was given powers by an alien.
