Aren't there a lot of dominators that already focus on the melee part of their Assault powers though?

    2. There are no real fixes that Masterminds "need," strictly speaking. Henchman AI is somewhat wonky, in the sense that ranged henchmen will run into melee sometimes, but it's considerably better than it's ever been, and considering the At is very solid balance-wise (if not somewhat overpowered), I don't find this to be a significant issue.

As well, neither of those two problems nor their solutions really depend on the same people who would potentially be making new set, not as far as I'm aware, so I'd like to focus on the suggested set if we could. It's a set I've wanted to see for a LONG time, because it has the potential to fill in many roles that neither Bots nor Mercs can feel, and it would also constitute literally the second high-tech Mastermind primary in the game. I don't consider Mercs to be high-tech as they're more Veteran era soldiers in terms of visuals, so that really only leaves Bots as an alternative, and those don't work as "soldiers."

One way or another, Masterminds need more primary powersets. The ones they have are too few and don't cover enough possible themes. Granted, because of how specific Mastermind sets tend to be, there are a lot of themes to explore (elemental summons, bugs, etc.), bit that shouldn't be a reason to not have more. The Archetype is not broken.
Yup, forgot that you need to buy MM in the first place if you're a free. I do see what you mean by it filling a spot in the MM archetype. They've needed something like this for a while.

I could see them being similar, but a lot of gangs, using the Freakshow as an example, are a mix of powers already in the game and unique powers. For example, a Juicer, which is a Freakshow Lieutenant, has a mix of Electric Blast, Electric Melee, and Regeneration, while another Lieutenant, like a Smasher or a Slicer, uses the Freakshow's unique limb enhancements. It would sort of be choosing Bane/Crab with some gangs, like Freakshow, but it would be more of a concrete pick with others. For example, Vahzilok only has 1 human Minion/Lieutenant, so you would be locked with them until you got up to the Boss promotion.

I definitely agree with this. While the set is pretty awesome, I think it would be bad to pump more content into a class that is:

    1: Restricted to Frees
    2: Requires Fixes
  5. Basically, I've had this idea since I started playing in '06. A game mode where you join one of the many gangs and organizations of CoX, and get promoted through the ranks of Minion-Boss. It would kind of be like Praetoria, but you would start in a modified zone of where that gang is based, so for the Freakshow you would start in Crey's Folly, Vahzilok would be in Sewers below Paragon/Rogue Isles, ect, and you would stay there until level 20, and you would choose to become a hero or villain, based on a choice you make on the last mission arc. What do you guys think? I have a small list of gangs that i think would be good, and where they would start. Please post some suggestions and critiques!

    Freakshow - Crey's Folly/Sharkhead
    Vahzilok - Sewers
    Circle of Thorns - Oranbega
    Outcasts - The Hollows

NOTE: Please stay away from small gangs with not that many options, like the Hellions or the Skulls. While they are gangs in the game, the choices you have are pretty restricted.
