Simple post...
Defiance is a waste of time.
Everyone else has covered all the reasons above....I personally feel it's been put in as some sort of cynical attempt to pacify an Archetype hit heavily by the defence nerfs.
I could of course be wrong...but that's how I feel...and that's really all that's important to me. -
This thread is now dead....please go to the post States has made "Solo and Team Play"
Ohhh and lets all be a bit nicer to each other in future threads too
As the great philosophers themselves said....
"Ummm yeah, be excellent to one another" -
I think this is great for the game.
Not just in terms of the actual mechanics but also, more importantly, at what it does for your players' confidence in your product, and in yourselves.
I really like the proposed ideas for missions too, can't wait for the "flashback"
Missions are my main source of fun in this game and I usually like to solo them. Saying that, I really like teaming too (although a bad pick-up team is a nightmare) and TFs are truely great.
I guess it's the story aspect of this game I like, there's a reason for your actions rather than just mindless mob hunting.....although some strange people do seem to just like street seeping themselves to 50 as fast as possible for some reason....never saw the fun in that.
But hey.....different strokes for different folks...long as they having fun
Bleh anyway....thanks for making missions (the best part of the game, after the char generator anyway) even better and I'm looking forward to the new features.

Ooops got my wrists slapped
However...it's good to see the issues being addressed
Thanks for the update Bridger -
The only thing I agree with Moridin saying so far is...if you come across a non-contact mentioned boss in a mission...petition.
There are so many instances of this that CS will be flooded and something will get done fast.
This thread is getting pretty pointless now to be honest, every possible point of view has been expressed and now people are just quoting each other for the sake of hammering their own point of view across.
There is no discussion here, no willingness to accept another person's point of view, just lots of self-righteous posturing.
"Step away from the thread people. Nothing to see here!"

Bottom line for me is...why make the game less fun?
Ok...some people were having fun and found the difficulty level about right.
Ok...some people were having fun (but not quite as much as the above people) and found the game a bit easy.
Bingo...problem solved by the difficulty options!
No need at all to touch bosses...AVs being beefed up I can understand....as some of those nasty Min/Maxers found ways of soloing them.
So yeah make AVs much tougher if you want...but there seems little point, from an enjoyment point of view, of making ordinary bosses tougher. -
I thought the boss changes were only for lvl 25 and over and the lower lvl ones remained unchanged?
My low level alts (of which there are an almost infinite number) haven't really noticed any difference in bosses as yet. -
I have always thought that once you hit 3 of ANY type of enhancer that any further ones should have a reduced effect.
It would encourage people to fit other enhancers to damage abilities.
A typical slotting of 3 Dam, 2 Rchg and 1 EndRdx may also help a bit with the ridiculous situation we have with most ATs feeling they HAVE to take Stamina AND Hasten.
Experience gained from encounters would probably have to be increased a little to compensate for the fact that fights would probably be taking a little longer than usual.
That's how I'd start looking at it....however I'm not a game designer...so I won't be offended if someone points out any obvious problems and calls me a numpty -
Making bosses harder WON'T make people group up instead of soloing..or it might but only in the short term.
Part of CoH's major appeal is that people CAN solo if they wish to, making it a great game for people on a time budget.
Remove the ability to solo and people who want a game they can solo in, if they want to, WILL leave the game.
Bosses should = 1 hero not 1.5
It should be a touch and go thing, not something that requires a whole tray of insp and then some luck too.
If the problem arises from SOs then take a look at SOs perhaps? -

If I cant transfer my Toons i'll be staying in the US, anyone else?
Or will we be forced to move to the Eu servers???
You can copy Toons from the Live US servers to the test server, cant the copy tool be changed to work from Live to Live???
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course they could do this....but I guess they hope some fools shell out for the Euro version as well as the one we are already playing.
Some people will no doubt have friends (who haven't already got CoH) who buy the Euro version when it hits the shelves and they hope you're willing to pay £25 (or whatever) to play with your friends.
I'm staying on the servers I already have chars on...not a snowball's chance in hades that I'll buy another copy just to start from scratch on a Euro server. -
No character transfer option?
Ummmm doesn't seem too clever to me...
...surely people in Europe interested in a Hero MMOG have already downloaded CoH and are playing it?
I know that's what I did.
I sure as heck won't fork out cash for a game I already play...and would have to start from scratch with again.
I just hope there are enough potential new customers to justify the expense of the new hardware, staff etc -
Another thing to note, which should be obvious is Knockback.
Snipe at max range and target takes damage but is not knocked back (or down) and I'd say about 90% of the time you have a single pull.
The only problem is if the mob has an attack of equal range and fires it off, at which point you have them all coming for ya.
Run Forest. Run!
If your snipe attack (or any other for that matter) knocks the Mob on it's [censored], then you will get aggro 100% of the time, unless there are mitigating effects such as smoke grenade.
So the basics are...
1. Pick a target that doesn't have an attack that can hit you, without it having to run towards you.
2. Aviod attacks with knockback for pulling.
3. Don't kill the critter outright with your attack....dying counts as a knock back for aggro
4. Smoke grenade or similar aggro range modifiers are very useful
Hope it helps but I'm sure most blasters have noticed these things already
