Greetings fellow heroes and villains of Freedom!
I have recently found myself transfered from Triumph to Freedom. Mostly, my desire to actually use my characters for TFs, etc has brought about this change. Although, I do have to say that the environment which made Triumph a good server is no longer there. Apparently, if you don't fit in with the elites of the server you get treated like... well.
So far, I have found a good group of people to run with and have enjoyed the busier nature of the server. The lag and the people are not as horrible as was rumored (at least for myself).
I look forward to teaming with a wide variety of good people. Just look for the guy jumping headlong into a pile of level 54s... I'm probably that guy!
See you in game! -
Based on responses. It sounds like people would be interested in this event, but most would favor moving it or even dividing it into two parts.
So... any suggestions are welcome. -
Well if there would be a better weekend then we can move it.

Names will be added to the list as people RSVP.
Please try to reply in this post so that I'm not responsible for remembering everyone's names.
Do please try to have a variety of Temp Powers available (Shivans, Nukes, etc) on the character you plan to use. The leaders will tell you if/when to use them, but be prepared.
Hope you can all make it for the fun! -
On Saturday, October 30 beginning around 1 PM Eastern (10 AM Pacific) Triumph will engage in the largest, ever Trick or Treat event in honor of the time-honored tradition in association with Halloween.
Let's call this event... The Trick or Treat Force
We will organize together into groups of 8 to run through the entire gambit of signature Task and/or Strike Forces in the game.
Those who wish to participate on Hero side will start with Positron and finish with Statesman.
Those on Villain side will start with Cap SF and finish with Lord Recluse.
The trick is getting through all of them in ONE day. The treat is a heck of a lot of Reward Merits and having fun with a group of friends!
I (Dr Gemini) will host the Hero side event. I am looking for someone to host the event for Villains.
Now, ideally we will have around 2-3 teams (or more) running on each side simultaneously. So, it will be important that we get organized in time to start by 1 PM (so log on around an hour before the start).
You and your friends are welcome to form teams as you wish. Though it would be cool to mix things up and maybe get people teaming who don't regularly team. And, it would be wise to bring a character who can go all the way through the event without too much switching.
We will form up to start at 1 PM/10 AM. Before we start, we will check to make sure each team is set with 8. If there are extra spots available, we will make them available to whoever wants them that is not already part of the event.
Yes, this does mean some of these will be speeded. But, feel free to take as much time as you need since you do have all day to run the event.
However... I'm not done!
On Sunday, October 31 @ 3 PM Eastern (12 Pacific) we will host a large gathering in Pocket D which will include a Halloween-Themed Costume Contest (dress up in your best Ghost, Zombie, Witch, etc outfit). There will be a variety of prizes from cold, hard cash to a selection of choice Invention Enhancements.
Then, we conclude the entire weekend with a pair of Cathedral of Pain trials!
On Sunday, October 31 @ 6 PM Eastern we will host CoP runs for both Villains and Heroes. Villains will run first and Heroes after. Please make sure you are ready for the event. On each side, we will give about 3 (three) tries at getting whichever the easy boss is before declaring success/failure. So, we will need 2-3 Super Groups available to serve as hosts.
Please R.S.V.P. as soon as you can to secure a spot in this event. Even if you cannot stay for the whole thing, I encourage you to show up for what you can!

I have teamed with her on several occassions already... need any more proof?
-
Bumping this up so everyone sees it. Please try to secure a decent number of Biological Nukes. I'd say each person should try to have 2-3 on hand.
-
Wow NinjaHavoc, you and I must have been playing on a different server.
But, see, this post of yours actually highlights the points I (and others) have made.
Your post also highlights the fact that the PvP crowd doesn't seem willing to find a "middle ground" with the more casual players.
Like... maybe if the PvPers are so interested in getting more people into PvP... might be good to schedule some events in the PvP zones that cater more to the casual PvPer and give people a chance to "get their feet wet."
Also, the fact that you have to somehow build your character totally different for PvP doesn't help. Sure, there should be some differences but not so big that someone who mainly does PvE can't enter into PvP and at least perform decently. -
I'm not up on all the stuff in PvP but... Why don't the devs just allow the PvE and PvP mechanics to be the same?
I ask this from the standpoint of someone who used to play Starcraft both against the AI and against players online. Absolutely every mechanic was pretty much the same no matter what. The only difference was the person behind the controls. So, in that sense, while it may take a while to learn how to compete against another player, you don't have to spend the time learning how your powers work just to PvP.
Back when the devs first introduced PvP, there were *some* differences in the exact mechanics, but things and strategies from PvE tended to work decently in PvP. The only real factor was the intelligence of the person behind the character(s).
I don't understand why they don't just keep the mechanics simple. -
Rofl... Tam, Cancer is it?, and Graystar...
You came to this game when? I've been playing this game since nearly the beginning. I took a 2-year absence kind of somewhere before Mission Architect came out. I was here when the devs first introduced PvP into the game. And, let me tell ya, back then, PvP was actually worth doing on occasion. I remember with CoV came out and the PvP zones were introduced. Back in those days, the PvP zones saw a good amount of use.
But, truth be told, Triumph has never been a server where a lot of PvP happened. Most people seemed to avoid the PvP zones because of a general attitude of the elite class who would show up and totally ruin the decent PvP with their lame tactics (like TP Foe'ing people into the drones and a lot of base camping).
So, given the history of PvP on Triumph, I'm not surprised that there is a general lack of PvP even more so because of the lighter crowd after the server transfers.
And, I think it is totally unreasonable to expect the "badgers" to be willing to engage in PvP against someone who is doing nothing more than harassing them. They aren't PvP pros so maybe you should lighten up a bit and see if you don't get a better reception. -
As I have said before... PvP has NEVER been that popular on this server. Yes, there are those who engage in it. But, the vast majority of the population engages in casual PvP at best. And, any decent PvP that happens only lasts for about 5 minutes before the super leet people show up and start (essentially) harassing the casual PvPers with their "leet" skillz.
I think that the more casual PvP population on the server might actually be encouraged to participate more IF the hardcore PvPers backed off a bit... and maybe that might entail having a character that isn't so uber that the casual guys don't have a prayer. I mean, not all of us have the time to go farm all those uber IOs that some people have. And, not demeaning the people who get the uber IOs.
But, I dunno. I'm not really that much into PvP in this game so I guess it's not my job to figure out why the PvP zones are so dead. -
Hello everyone. Been a while since we've had ourselves a Hamidon Raid on Triumph. And, with GR/i18 officially yesterday's news...
People of Triumph it is time that we began having some Hamidon Raids. Everyone (who bought GR) has the ability to change their alignments. Therefore, I would think that we would have no trouble getting the people we need for a raid.
So... on Saturday, September 25 @ 8:00 PM Eastern (5:00 Pacific) I am looking to organize a Hamidon Raid.
What do we need?
Tanks/Taunters for the purpose of taunting Hami and making us live longer!
Scrappers, etc for some Melee teams (to take out the Yellow Mitos which are weak to Melee).
Blasters, etc for the ranged team(s) to take out the Blue Mitos
Controllers/Dominators to help in the area of holding the green mitos and with the ranged damage.
Masterminds? I'd actually like to see a good number of them show up for the reason that we may be able to use them in a very special way.
Also, nuclear missiles of the biological kind would be of great help. Shivans? Wouldn't hurt to have some on hand.
Now, remember we can only fit about 50 people into the Hive for a raid. So, it is important that we have everything we need within those 50 people.
So, please mark this date on your calendar(s) and spread the word.
Also, I will be looking for several people capable of helping organize the various teams we need to succeed. If you would be able to lead a group, please let me know and I will have people organized into your group(s).
Let's show Hamidon what a dead server can do! -
Rofl... You haven't seen lag until you team with an Electric Control. My Elec/Kin will have you suffering seizures.
Except in situations where there are a lot of things happening at once, I get almost no lag of my own. There are those times when the server seems to stall but other than that I get an average of 1-2 crashes in any given day (which seems to be a problem with the server/game).
Oh, and I run on a Dell Inspiron 1525. Not exactly the most high-end gaming laptop. So, whatever your problem is... it's on your end not the server. -
Hello people. Don't know if there are already plans on the book for a Mothership Raid this week so I figured I would offer to arrange a raid this week.
This Wednesday, August 11 @ 9 PM Eastern (6 PM Pacific) there will be a raid conducted on the Rikti Mothership in the Rikti War Zone.
For those who have not done one in a while or need a refresher...
This is a raid conducted against the Rikti Mothership. Our purpose is to show those Rikti who is boss. And, the bonus is getting to walk away with a nice chunk of those Vanguard Merits needed to trade in for the various Vanguard costume parts and whatever else they got.
I've been to several of these and they are incredibly fun!
Heroes AND Villains can participate! Bring whoever you'd like to bring. We do ask that a variety of archetypes make an appearance so that we have a good mixture of Tanking/DPS/Healing/Etc. Otherwise, pretty much anyone is welcome. (It would be handy if a couple Dark Defenders/Corruptors/Masterminds could help us out as we will definitely appreciate your mass rez!)
We will start rounding people up about 30 minutes prior to the start. This way, we can get a good 2-3 runs in (the MS Shield stays down about 30 minutes so we can probably fit in 2 attempts possibly a 3rd.)
Also, we will need several people willing to form/lead teams.
See you on Wednesday!
P.S. Since this raid tends to produce a lot of lag, it is strongly advised that all participants come with costumes that do not use much in the way of additional graphics (Capes, Trenchcoats, Auras, etc). Scantily-clad characters are certainly welcome! -
If I am free at that time, I would be interested in running it. Sounds like it will be a blast.
-
Eh, I'll see if I can make it for a run or two. See if my Ninja/Poison can handle the stress.
-
Quote:Only the idiots who's life revolves around farming and powerleveling would agree with you at all.I think that everything you just said, without exception, is blatantly wrong. Triumph is dead, especially compared to how lively it used to be in the days pre-i4. It used to look like modern-day Freedom, and that is definitely not the case anymore.
The people complaining are probably the people you'd rather not do anything with to begin with. So, I see not much has changed in that regard while I've been away. -
Well, looks like I picked the right time to return to the game. First Hami raid I've been to since I've been back and success (not to mention 3 rare salvage drops in a row). My Centriole could have been better but I will be content to know that Triumph has what it takes to beat Hamidon at his own game.
Batz did an excellent job leading.
My only request is that we get 1-2 Dark Defenders to make a regular appearance for this (or have more people with self-rezzes) so that we can regroup faster when we have a lot of people down.
Might also suggest we get one going Villain side so that the villains have the chance to raid as well.
Anyways... good job last night -
I can make plans to be there. I do have a Tank if you need him for the taunting or I can come with some healing/buffing. I'm around most evenings so just hit me up if you need help with anything prior to that.
Also, I guess I will organize a Monster Mash for about an hour or so on Friday. Let us aim for about 8-9 Eastern? Then, if people want, we can run a couple of LGTF's to acquire more. -
So, then, is this something people would like to see done? Not necessarily an every week thing unless it gets that popular. Maybe every other week?
-
I know it's been about 2 years since I was last an active part of the community. And, I am sure that many things have changed in those times. I notice that Triumph doesn't do much in the way of PvP anymore or Hamidon Raiding. But, perhaps we can revive something I used to host: The Monster Mash.
What is (or was) the Monster Mash?
To summarize, it was a fun little event where the community would gather to have some fun taking down the giant Devouring Earth monsters found on good old "Monster Island."
It used to be a hero-side event, but, now that villains have access to a similar version of "Monster Island", we can host some events on both sides. (Too bad there isn't a co-op zone for it!)
What are the benefits?
As far as I know, the main benefit is the fun of gathering together and launching a raid-style invasion on these behemoths. There isn't necessarily a lot of experience, influence/infamy, or other rewards. However, it could be used as an opportunity for those who like to engage in a little roleplaying action. And, just enjoy the fun of defeating giant walking plants with your friends!
But, for now, I am just trying to find out if there would be interest in having this event from time to time. There is absolutely no pressure to have it. Simply interested in gauging the level of interest. -
I am genuinely enjoying the changes that have made their way into the game while I've been away. Sure, I've played other games (namely LOTRO) which seem to do some things better. But, the improvements made to CoH/CoV are quite encouraging...
Mail System -- While there could be a few more things added (like SG/VG-wide email from officers), it is far better than it used to be. I can now mail gobs of stuff to "myself" and transfer things between characters without needing to take forever. Of course, the more characters one has the longer it takes to properly inventory them!
More CoH/CoV Integration -- The way the devs have gone about allowing for co-op stuff is fun. It means that those of us who like to hang with our friends can do so regardless of what side we play. And, we are soon to see a greater expansion to that end.
Other "Quality of Life" changes -- Like the auto-exemplar/sidekick system. And, so far, I have met quite a few people who are willing to help you out with missions.
More friendly people -- When I left, I remember Triumph was leaning away from being as friendly as it was. But, it seems that most of the people who are still around are a lot friendlier.
Good to be back for sure! -
Well, now I have it unlocked on all my characters. From experience, my Mastermind is more fun to play but I can bring an Emp or Kin defender, Tank, Mastermind (Ninja/Poison), or Ice/Emp controller.
-
Quote:Seems easy enough to complete. I do remember ITF now... just had to remind myself. You'll need to complete either Montague Castanella's (hero) or Ashley McKnight's (villain) story arc to gain access to the Midnighter Club. You'll also need to be at least level 35 to use the Pillar of Ice and Flame inside the Club to enter Cimerora.
-
I would be willing to throw my hat in the ring on this. I can offer a variety of characters. Would prefer to bring Emp or MM, but can be flexible.
Seeing as I have not been around for a while, if someone can list any pre-requisites for gaining access it would be much appreciated so that I can make sure to work on them ASAP.
