Hopefully this doesn't apply to you, but:
I had this same problem at a time where a lot of OTHER issues were plaguing my computer as well - which turned out to be one of my RAM sticks going corrupt. So if your computer is acting like everything that could possibly be going wrong goes wrong at random times, that could be another possibility. Hopefully it's just a problem with the game on your end.

Ok, so, I really don't know what's going on.
While playing CoH the other day, it locked up on me - said it couldn't find a texture, I honestly can't recall which.
When trying to start the game, it wouldn't. Suggested I repair it. When repairing it, I got an error message. Just decided to jump straight into reinstalling.
Now while reinstalling, I get the following message:

Error Code: 58 (FileGroupApplicationErrorRollbackNotAttempted):
Errors occurred while applying the patch,
and a rollback was not attempted.
The product is likely in an inconsistent state and should be repaired or reinstalled.
The patch application errors are as follows:
Error Code: 57 (ErrorRepairingTargetFile):
File could not be repaired: C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\City of Heroes\piggs\stage1f.pigg.

This isn't the first time this has happened, I tried reinstalling earlier tonight and got the error at "stage1c.pigg"
I can think of no reason why my game has suddenly obliterated itself. If there's any more information I can share, or if anyone has some help, I'd be happy to/grateful, respectively.

Quick Update: Wasn't running NCSoft's updater as Administrator. While that's never inhibited me in the past, I figure I'll try that based on some older threads.

Further update: After rerereinstalling, it tried to auto start after that part where you can use the character creator, and got this one:
./piggs/bin.pigg: Corrupt pig file detected
Read failed for file: bin/clientmessages-en.bin
-1

Your data might be corrupt, please run the patcher and try again.

Zyal's/JFreezy's solutions worked. Now I feel like a bit of a putz. Thanks very much!

Hey all,
I'm a player with several 20+ on both sides but no 50+, so the Epic Archetype unlock actually affects me. Thing is, I only have access to the Hero epics, but not the Villain epics. Does this look like a glitch, or am I missing some info?

I don't suppose there are any plans to update the canon character bios on the CoH site? I love how the Going Rogue ones are being done, and would froth at the mouth to see that sort of treatment given to Synapse, Positron, Ghost Widow, et al.
