Most of your skulls, leather-wearing, monster types fall into the anti-hero crowd not the hero crowd. So somewhere between CoH and CoV. But if you had to pick a side, most would be on the CoV side in most heroes eyes. You think Superman would allow Spawn to kill someone in front of him?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They would fall on the CoV side on most heroes' eyes, sure. But from the eyes of a player? Which types of missions sound more like what Ghost Rider, the Punisher, or any of the other "anti-heroes" would do:

    A) Break up a gang war, save an office building from rampaging criminals, stop criminals from distributing a new drug.
    or
    B) Kidnap the daughter of a crime boss and turn her over to a rival crime family, rob a bank, steal a bunch of drugs and sell them for your own profit.

A is clearly the more appropriate mission set - and since that's the type of mission you get in City of Heroes, it makes a lot more sense to play characters in the mold of Ghost Rider or the Punisher on City of Heroes than it does to try to play them on City of Villains.

More options are good, but it's also nice to be able to tell the good from the bad at a glance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The trouble with that argument is that so many of the new CoV costume options aren't inherently evil.

Motorcycle jacket? Lots of heroes have worn a leather jacket, from Ghost Rider to Cyclops to my personal favorite, Jack Knight during his time as Starman.

The leather jacket with the buttons up the side? Perfect for the Rocketeer or any other pulp hero.

Lab coat? Any number of science-based heros. Techbot armor? Any armored hero. Radiation pattern? Firestorm, or any other nuclear hero. Heavy neck chain (in gold)? Mr. T.

I can see arguing that certain items are more villianous-looking - like the barbed-wire wrap and the monstrous heads. However, I'd rather the Devs spent their time on working on new content instead of having to sit around deciding which pieces are "OK" to be heroic and which ones aren't.

I also don't buy the idea that CoH would be flooded with "Mr. MurderDeathKill" and his spiky-skulled associates, especially if you could only get them as options by buying CoV. I think most of those folks made villain types on CoH because CoV didn't exist yet - so they'll all be over playing with the new toy and actually being villains instead of mean-looking heros.

Bottom line is if to this point heroes all looked like the Superman, Shazzam and the Flash a lot more people would feel “Villainous” when playing CoV with big ol’ devil horns and monstorous legs.

Bottom line is if the heroes all looked like Superman, Shazam, and the Flash, a lot fewer people would be playing City of Heroes.

OK - here's the most likely outcome...

If you own both games, you get all options - the new CoV sets will be accessible for your heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What can we do to take this from most likely to definite? I've been wanting a good biker jacket since I joined the game, and a lot of the other CoV options would be great, too.

You know, if they WANTED to phase such a system in, the easy way to do it would be to switch the prices between what a STORE charges and what your CONTACT charges. It's always nice that my contact sells ALL the SOs I need, but why bother with them when I can get them for what, 30 percent less at a regular store?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seconded! That would also reward a player for doing mission content (which I seem to recall is something you are looking for)

    XP and I5

    [ QUOTE ]
The problem is all the running about with missions.
When street hunting you are constantly earning xp, with a mission you have to run to conatcta to get the mission and then run to the mission. The xp bonus for the mission is far to small to counterbalance all the dead time you get doing missiosn that you dont get street hunting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are a couple of 'secrets' to this.

First, if possible, double up on missions - that is to say, grab two 'hunt X badguys' that you can take care of in the same area, or get a 'hunt X badguys' that you can do on the way to your other mission.

Second (and this works better at lower levels simply because of the travel powers, or lack thereof, in use), if you see some bluesor greens or even whites on the way to the mission, stop and whack them. Unless the mission is timed, it won't matter - and even Superman pauses to stop muggings now and again. If you stop to lay the smackdown on the way to and from the mission, you'll do a lot to even yourself out with the guy who's solely street hunting.
