Rikti Mothership Raid Update: 01-15-2011
Hi, Folks --
The back-to-back EE Mothership Raids resumed tonight with a VENGEANCE, maxing out the Zone with six full teams and spawning a second instance!
Most participants reported earning 800 or more Vanguard Merits per run!
The next scheduled back-to-back Rikti Mothership Raids will be on January 22nd, 2011, at 5 PM Pacific (8 PM Eastern)!
Announcements will be made to the usual Channels (Guardian, Level 50, etc), of course.

Hi Electro!
Yes, we saw you there!
With so many people in Atlas, there were some DC's, it's true!
BUT overall, it went very well!Everyone had a really, really fun time.
Thanks for the good wishes -- we're happy to see Legacy still steadily climbing the ranks!
We'll be waiting for you to arrive in the circle of the Top-10, laurel wreaths in hand!

Quote:Wow, Philly, I am in awe!I'm splitting my time on 4 servers atm so don't have time for a 5th. Chasing PvP in this game is hard.
I don't even have enough time to be on one server, and one toon, all I would like to be. For you to be able to split yourself across 4 servers is amazing!
I couldn't imagine doing it.
But I know what you mean about PvP. It's been a long time since I was able to go to a PvP Zone like RV and actually find tons of opponents (or any opponents at all, in fact). These days, we mainly PvP via Arena or Warburg within the SG, as there are a lot of top-notch fighters in our ranks and we want to keep our edge super sharp for the return of Base Raids.

I did some research today. Animal characters apparently break down into two categories, "Anthropomorphic" (Ann-throw-po-more-fic) and "Zoomorphic" (Zoo-more-fic).
Anthropomorphic means "becoming human". Such as a rabbit evolving, standing up, getting hands and talking.
Zoomorphic means "becoming animal". Such as a man becoming a werewolf, etc.
Plus, feet that are like a dog's, where you stand on your toes with an elongated arch to the heel are called "Digitigrade" (Dih-jit-ah-grade).
Feet that are like a bear's or human's, where you stand on the flat (or heel and ball) are called "Plantigrade" (Plan-tih-grade).
[/fascinating fountain of facts]
If you have a "human" costume and a "beast" costume, with any nice kind of "transformation" animation (that should come with any "Beast" or "Animal" Pack) you'd be able to pull off awesome "Bloody Roar" or "Manimal"-style transformations.
If it's a real Pack, we will doubtless see more Heroes of this stripe showing up in the near future!

Perhaps, but I had a nice picture of Tigra in mine.
But seriously, if we look at packs as being things that are supposed to pay for themselves (the cost of their development) and generate some revenue on top of that -- while at the same time adding new content to the game -- do you honestly think an Animal Part Pack would sell as much as, say, the Magic Pack did?
Would sales of such a pack be in the tens of thousands, several thousand or only just a few hundred? Unless it's the former, it doesn't seem likely that such a thing will materialize any time soon.
-- Vivian -
Countless comics have had animal characters in them as Heroes. These range from the almost full-on animal, such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Mentor, "Splinter" all the was up to Marvel's Tigra, who is basically a human woman with fur, claws and a cat tail -- her ears are even human. Let's not even look overseas at Japan and the millions of magical cat-girls that have graced the pages of their manga over the last two decades.
Heroes like those in TMNT, or any sort of Were-beast or Mutated / Uplifted Animal such as the creations of the High Evolutionary. One need not be ashamed that they like Tigra, or think she's a cool character -- or even that they like cat-girls in general.
I would not object to an Animal Pack, but I do not think it would be a big seller. I think that no matter what, Animal Hero and Villain characters have (thus far) always been and would most likely remain a minority in CoX, even if more costume parts were made available.
In my opinion, the number of people who would purchase such a pack would be small -- those development resources would be better spent on new mission tilesets, more character faces and other dramatic costume pieces of the level of quality seen in the Magic Pack.

Quote:Alas!I had been there earlier with Blade Mouse, as you all were setting up, but alas "Real Life" prevented me from attending the festivities.
Our Secret Identities often intrude, it's true!
Don't feel bad, it is only right and proper for that to take precedence.
I hope that you'll be able to attend our next major event!

Quote:The character also had a pair of matching sabers with white and gold enameled guards that looked very "period appropriate". These can be seen in the image below:I have a Mexican named Que Arrow ES who I've tried to give a Mexican theme and I never came up with anything as cool as this.
In the end we were making the final decision for the Grand Prize Winners by fractions, adding up points from bios and power/weapon customization such as the above. There were many great looks at the contest. Of particular note was that of "Cauterise", who pulled off an extremely intense, inhuman appearance.
But all 20 Finalists were winners, claiming a base prize of 200 Million apiece!

Hi, Everyone!
My goodness, so many new people coming to our Happy Event Thread!Hello!
Thank you so much for all of your congratulations! We of EE really, really appreciate your support.
I just came to mention that I have updated my earlier Review Post of the Event!
It now includes zoomable photos of all the Finalists and Grand Prize Winners of the Costume Contest.Enjoy!
It also includes one of Wei's nice photos showing the EE Drumming Team in action before the Event!
I hope folks keep sharing their experiences of the event here in this thread. It's such fun to see it through someone else's eyes!
I'm looking forward to seeing your photos and post, HalfSlice!
Until then, dear friends!
--Vivian -
Hi Traegus --
I have edited the earlier post in this thread to include shots of all the finalists and winners.

Yes, not a Hellion was in sight! They must have all been hiding in the Sewers.
Actually, there was one funny moment! An NPC citizen walked down the street...
Past the long, long lines of heroes who were getting ready for the parade...
And at the end, walking off, he said, "No, wait, that's impossible..."
All that was missing was for him to take out a hip flask, shudder, and throw it away!

Quote:Hi Trae!any chance we get pics of the winners in male and female categories?
I can certainly post them! There were 20 winners overall of the CC.
Of those 20, one Male and one Female were chosen as Grand Prize Winners.
(Our official "King" and "Queen" of Fashion for the Event)
When I have put together a nice view of all 20 Winners, I will post it here.

Hi Everyone --
Thank you so much for your kind words!
We were so very happy to share our joy with everyone.
And indeed -- Guardian lives!

Hi Mousedroid, Muon, Deej, Kragothe, Blackberry, Warface and Everyone --
Thank you so much for your wonderful posts and photos of the event!
I hope more people come forward and share their experience of the event in words and pictures.
Hearing what parts of the Events people liked best will help us plan bigger and better ones in the future!

Earthclan Elite's 2011 Celebration Event
NOTE -- ALL IMAGES CAN BE CLICKED ON TO VIEW A LARGE VERSION!
This was in many ways, the first event of its kind. Never before had there been a 10 Billion INF Celebration on Guardian, and certainly never before had there been a Judging Parade through Atlas Park.
The massive prizes, coupled with extensive in-game promotion across all servers and the Forums brought out many of the most talented and creative costume designers to be found in the game.
The images below do not do the event justice, for it was something indeed that had to be experienced first-hand. Including the Marriage Proposal (joyfully accepted) that opened the event!
We of Earthclan Elite were proud to share our achievement of finally becoming the #1 SG with all of Guardian. We look forward to the next Celebration, and hope all of our friends will be there yet again!
THE GATHERING IN ATLAS... TWO HOURS BEFORE THE EVENT... (KIND OF CHILLY!)
AS SEEN FROM OVERHEAD...
THE CEREMONIAL DRUMMERS
ASSEMBLING FOR THE FIRST-EVER CC JUDGING PARADE OF HEROES
THE PARADE BEGINS ITS TRIUMPHANT PROCESSION ACROSS ATLAS PARK

THE FINAL JUDGING BEGINS
THE TEN FEMALE FINALISTS
THE TEN MALE FINALISTS

Oh my gosh, Philly.
I just laughed so hard.
Quote:Step out of your little box and learn to have a bit of class. Better yet take a lesson from Dr. V she showed a lot in this thread.
Quote:Dr V I hope to attend on one of my old Guardian toons, been a long time since I was on Guardian. Gratz to your SG.
Be sure to get there early -- with 6 Billion being given away in the first event, it's going to be PACKED, and I wouldn't want you to get locked out of the Zone.

Quote:Thank you, Slaz.Upon reading the thread, I don't think you came across as anything but polite, despite quite a few attempts to troll you into being nasty (thinking these troll's have the Green eyed monster about them).
If I were on Guardian I would be very keen on joining your SG, just on the way you handled yourself in this thread alone.
Congrats on reaching #1 SG on Guardian,I really, really appreciate the thumbs-up.
I hope you'll come to the big event this Saturday!
You can SAVE and LOAD your favorite toon's look onto a new Level 1 Guardian Toon.
And if you win one of the 1.2 Billion top prizes in the CC, just e-mail it back to your Global, and claim it on your home server.
And even if you don't take #1, all 20 Finalists win 200 Million each -- that's certainly nothing to sneeze at!

Quote:I agree completely.Besides, who has the most prestige, influence, purple spotted dinosaurs, or whatever other pointless stuff we want to compare SGs by, will all by a thing of the past when/if they bring back base raids and Items of Power.
That's going to be fun!
As one of the most active Base-Raiding SGs on Guardian pre-Issue-13, we're eagerly looking forward to a return of Base Raids ... and hopefully inter-server Base Raids! It'll be awesome!
To everyone else -- I got tired of some people trying to pooh-pooh our accomplishments, and trying to say that by celebrating reaching #1 we were trying to imply anything other than the Top-100 List and our last almost six years of fun and friendship here in CoH. Goobers.
I let my temper get the better of me. I should have just ignored the nonsense.
So, sorry everyone. I apologize for any shortness in previous posts. *hugs*
-- Vivian -
I routinely hear from people that we're one of the most, if not the most, active SGs on Guardian, although, not being a member of any other SGs, I can't compare personally.
It may not be obvious, as we don't stand around Atlas Park all day, nor publically recruit by broadcast. Our rare broadcasts are usually about Events, like this one.
We mostly quietly run content, every day and night, which is why we slowly but steadily raised in the Top-100 over these last few years and eventually toppled Bane of Prometheus from the Top-100 Slot, who had been there for years (and who warmly congratulated us when we finally passed them).
So we are very active. We run Task Forces, Flashbacks, Radios, Trials, Arcs, AE and more every night, usually with full SG teams.
Membership-wise, we've been jam-packed for years now. We only look for a new member when someone's been idle too long and a slot opens up.
-- Vivian -
Quote:They didn't complain when we reached the Top-20 in 2008 and had that big celebration... or 2009, for the Top-10. It's really true, getting to the top makes you a target for people who want to try and lift themselves up by putting you down. We'd have had no such complaints, I'm sure, if we'd stayed #2.Unfortunately the thread, and topic pushed some buttons. Nothing much to do about that now.
