What's wrong with the old weapons?
I wish the CBS Reporter had one in Egypt. Or any of her camera crew. -
Rikti Mothership Raid Update: 02-12-2011
Hi, Folks --
Another two back-to-back EE Mothership Raids kicked off tonight in the RWZ, once again maxing out the Zone with six full teams!
Tonight's Raids were backed up with massive HVAS and Pet support, with over 10 HVAS deployed during the Second Raid!
Lag was reduced significantly during the Second Raid through the use of a lag-reduction command! (We'll always use it, henceforth)
Shards and Vanguard Merits flowed more freely than ever as Rikti were pulled in from all sides and smashed to bits in a continuous stream!
The next scheduled back-to-back Rikti Mothership Raids will be on February 19th, 2011, at 5 PM Pacific (8 PM Eastern)!
Announcements will be made to the usual Channels (Guardian, Level 50, etc), of course.

Rikti Mothership Raid Update: 02-05-2011
Hi, Folks --
The back-to-back EE Mothership Raids resumed with vigor, maxing out the Zone with six full teams and spawning a second instance!
Lag, Shards and Vanguard Merits flowed freely as Rikti were tossed helplessly around the bowl like salad!
The next scheduled back-to-back Rikti Mothership Raids will be on February 12th, 2011, at 5 PM Pacific (8 PM Eastern)!
Announcements will be made to the usual Channels (Guardian, Level 50, etc), of course.

I got very little time in, I had to work for most of the weekend in my Secret Identity.

Rikti Mothership Raid Update: 01-29-2011
Hi, Folks --
For the first time since they began, a scheduled EE Mothership Raid did not take place!
A strange variety of unexpected challenges met several of the main EE team leaders in their Secret Identities, from a bad case of the flu all the way to having to work late.
These disparate events conspired to make them all late for (or to miss entirely) the night's activities! Such levels of coincidence are hard to accept -- it's surely a Nemesis Plot!
Regardless, the night's Raids were begun by various folks that had come to join in on the event, who stepped up to the plate and formed the teams. Hats off to them!
Arriving late (just as the Shields Dropped), some EE Team Leads were able to participate in the Second Raid, which went flawlessly.
The next scheduled back-to-back Rikti Mothership Raids will be on February 5th, 2011, at 5 PM Pacific (8 PM Eastern)!
Announcements will be made to the usual Channels (Guardian, Level 50, etc), of course.

Okay, I got to the root of the problem when I realized NOTHING OpenGL-based was working, not even the SDK components.
I have another video card in my system, a PCI card intended to drive two side monitors that run various things (stock displays, videos, performance counters, e-mail, etc).
OpenGL was not working using the latest driver (266.58) with that old card also in the system. It didn't recognize it, or support it -- in fact, that card had stopped working -- but OpenGL calls would just fail, with no clear reason why.
However, after Disabling that card in the Hardware Monitor and rebooting, everything worked perfectly fine. I am back up and running again!
Thanks for the suggestions, JS!

Rikti Mothership Raid Update: 01-22-2011
Hi, Folks --
The back-to-back EE Mothership Raids went flawlessly, maxing out the Zone with six full teams and spawning a second instance!
Alas, no screenshot is available from this day's event due to a video card failure.
The next scheduled back-to-back Rikti Mothership Raids will be on January 29th, 2011, at 5 PM Pacific (8 PM Eastern)!
Announcements will be made to the usual Channels (Guardian, Level 50, etc), of course.

Hi JS --
I ran Driver Sweeper and completely nuked ALL of the NVIDIA drivers, including my chipset.
Following this I reinstalled the 680i chipset drivers then the latest 266.58 video card drivers.
I also performed a DirectX update, just in case.
No change. The game still will not load. Exact same error.
These ARB errors are apparently OpenGL errors. NVIDIA's Control Panel also gives an OpenGL error and won't run.
I am now looking into installing the NVIDIA OpenGL SDK, I'll post results.
Any suggestions for me to try on the OpenGL side?
CohHelper.exe output following all of these changes is as follows:

Hi, Everyone --
CoH worked fine with my old GeForce 9500 GT, but I bought a new GTX 460 video card to take advantage of Ultra Mode properly, and after installing the latest nVidia drivers (266.58, I believe) CoH now no longer loads -- instead, it gives the dreaded "Your video card does not support ARB_multitexture" and "ARB_texture_compression" errors.
I found it unlikely that an old 9500 GT card will run CoH but not one of the newest nVidia cards (especially since I'd seen other people in the past posting about using the GTX 460, so I searched the Forums and found that I'm not alone in this ARB problem -- but there does not seem to be any common solution to it.
Below is the output of CohHelper.exe -- can anyone give me any advice as to how to get CoH to load? (Oh -- and of course, I already tried SAFE MODE, same results)

If you want to use Ventrilo, Earthclan Elite could volunteer the use of its Ventrilo Server for the Event.
Just let us know, we're always happy to help support fun Guardian Events like these.

Hi Nutty! Welcome back to City of Heroes.
As servers go, Guardian is a good place to call home, if you're looking for a new one.
If you're only looking for the most highly-populated server, that's Freedom.
We Guardianites believe in quality over quantity, however!

Quote:It's plainly obvious. Ever see DARK CITY?There's no children OR animals... Which just make me ask why?
The Rikti actually won the war. We, the surviving humans, are part of a giant experiment. They didn't think it necessary to the experiment to import birds, animals or any lesser life forms.
And of course, there are no children. All of the test subjects were sterilized before being placed in the experiment.

Hi War Witch!
Welcome to the tail end of this happy thread!
It's wended a long and curious road to reach here! -
*gasp*
Oh, Carnifax! How could you?
Such blatant disregard for the rules smacks of sheer Villainy!
(Or perhaps at least Rougishness!) -
The Forum Posting Rules are really not that onerous.
I just think it would benefit us all to read them now and again, to refresh ourselves.

This is actually interesting and relevant, although be aware that I am cross-posting his comment here.
You should follow the link there to Noble Savage's post thread if you want to provide feedback on this topic, as I do not think he is going to ever see or read this one.
Quote:Clearly, animal parts are on some of your minds right now, and I want to understand why it's a top concern. IF we decide to do a Super Booster: Beasts set in the future, is that something the average COH fan really wants? With every Super Booster, the general aim is to expand the limits of the costume library while enabling as many new character concepts as possible. Animal heads and legs are a niche sub-category that, for whatever reason, seems to get a lot of attention in these parts.
Our top goal is to give players what they want. We're open-minded, eager to please, and not opposed to anything, but let me play devil's advocate here and tell you why there might be some resistance to a hypothetical Animal Pack:
A) There are already animal parts in the game. Given the LONG list of player requests, why build 'Werewolf Head #2' when we could make, say, a tech-themed fixed-wing, something that doesn't exist in the game currently?
B) Animal parts don't appear to have mass appeal. COH is a living, breathing comic book universe, and our ongoing goal is to reflect the diversity of all the comic titles out there. But take a quick look at any comic book store and you'll be hard-pressed to find a single issue featuring an anthropomorphic character on the cover or otherwise. They're simply not that popular. So why build lizard parts or giraffe parts when it seems like VERY few people would be interested in them?
C) Resources are limited. Everything we make comes at the cost of something else. If relatively few people would use animal parts, why should they be the top priority over some other theme?
Let me restate that I'm playing devil's advocate here. I wouldn't mind having a few more animal parts personally, but selling the team on a whole pack devoted to this theme is another matter entirely, especially with several other strong ideas on the table. If this is something you guys really want, please take this opportunity to make your case. -
Grats to you and Dusk Lily!
Well done!

I'm sure we'd love to see dozens of Kangaroo characters hopping around Atlas.

*crickets* Hmm... I think I killed the thread with that one.

Quote:Shards can drop from any Level 50+ enemy. So even if you are running Radio Mishes, you'll be getting Shard drops. Just take out a lot of enemies, and the Shards will come. It's good because you don't need to worry about them -- just run normal content, and your Shards will continue to slowly accumulate. I know, I've got like 50 or so sitting there waiting for the rest of Alpha to unlock.I'd be interested to see how often people are picking up shards on everyday 50+ mishes. Right after I ran the arc with Redeeming Fire, I was running the Praetorian arc and picked up one, but not since...

Quote:I think they really picked a good middle ground. It's perhaps the only way Sexy Jay could bring himself to make them
These full-out animal heads and parts will work for those who want to make Animal Heroes and Heroines while not getting the "Anti-Furry" crowd in an uproar. -
It's interesting to note that the animal heads shown thus far are wholly animal and not of the sort of human/animal blending that is often seen in illustrated and 3D animal/human characters these days (i.e., such as the rabbit shown below, with human hair and anime style eyes on top of an otherwise wholly animal head).
So if this is representative of the Pack, it would basically be animal heads, animalistic paws, feet and tails to be attached to the normal human body types.
