You want to claim ED isn't a problem? Fine. Do so. But don't expect those of us playing characters who were negatively affected by it to nod and smile. If the stealth nerf was a bad idea, and the numerous posts against it were the reason it was rolled back, then ED should have been rolled back, chopped in pieces and used as confetti in the parade we would have thrown in celebration of its demise.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You seam to be discounting the "reason" in those "well reasoned posts" that got the Stealth Nerf changed.

    It's Griefability.

If you can make a "well reasoned post" about how you can grief other players with ED, by all means, do.

Many of the, so called, "well reasoned posts" about changing ED have consisted of plans, that in my opinion, are worse than ED. I have no doubt that is the reason the Devs ignored them too.

    ADDED:
Or they have just been of the "I don't like it" kind ... hardly "well reasoned."

If I had to say anything it's either A or C ... leaning toward c.

If you are confused, that’s ok. Lets just say "Rain of Fire, Ice Storm, Blizzard, Burn, Ignite and Rain or Arrows just got a whole lot better".

Is Caltrops also on that list?

    Sheesh, poor guy.

Rolls out some great news and keeps getting backhanded compliments.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No kidding. I don't think she was being rude though, that was said in fun. I do think, however, that the devs have some kind of office game where they all get together and see which comments they post get the most flames. They probably score them by (the nicer the dev comment) x (the meaner the flame response) = the most points.

Tell me States, well, PM me if you don't want to post it, do you chuckle reading the forums, or do the flames kill you inside?

    Ok, that's enough from me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They do. A lot of the posts crack them up. Scroll down to the games section, quite a few 'game' threads were started by devs. They have a very healthy sense of humor. Heck, States was asked who his favorite posters were once, he named PuffyShirt.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You went and stole what I was going to post.

And, what cracks me up is that Puffy showed up and complained about it too ...

I'm sorry if this has already been asked how does the archvillian/elite boss change affect badges?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It has, repeatedly.

Short Answer: The Boss-to-Lt doesn't affect those Badges. The AV-to-EB >>>shouldn't<<< affect those Badges either.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
    - Will defeating said Praetorians as Elite Bosses grant the relevant Badge?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Badges for Boss that are in the game now work off the Boss-to-E/Lt version of Bosses, sooo ...

My guess would be they still count.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Just want to find something out (in a break in the action online...) and if I've missed someone asking....

Will this affect *current* missions? I've had Giovanni and another Chimaera on my 50 for a while now, and my PB never seems to be able to get a team for the Envoy... I'd LOVE to be able to just wait a little longer and progress past them after a good fight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, seeing as that the Boss-to-E/Lt is simular and is dymanic, I don't see this working any other way.

This means no suppression either, right? That would incur most of the same problems the original nerf brought, so I hope we're sticking with stealth as-is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you read Statesman's comment on it, yes supression of stealth will be coming in a future patch. They will be pulling the current method so they can code supression in.

Its only being pulled because otherwise idiots would use group and castable invisibility abilities to grief and harass players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hate to spoil the fun but you do realise those who predicted abait and switch were...right

The devs AI is as predictable as a vazalok cadaver without a mortie

    [/ QUOTE ]

    So...

Your not happy with the Dev's because they never listen to the playerbase, however, anything thats done that appears to be listening to the playerbase is all really part of some bait and switch?

Way to go, you've got it set up so that no matter what the Dev's do, its the wrong decision.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Isn't that the truth.

I've been saying this for a very long time: No matter what the Devs do, someone is going to complain about it.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I remember ED was also mentioned as "player suggestion" despite it being a suggestion in place of the I5 nerfs. We got I5 nerfs + ED and the blame was placed on "see! we listen to our customers!" in order to make it look like we're really being listened to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you are going to weave theories and spin falsehood, you atleast need to start somewhere close to the facts.

"ED" was sugjested by players off and on going all the way back to Issue 3, maybe ever Issue 2.

Well before I5, HO's, and Arena PvP.

Care to try again? I think you dropped you hat, Ath.

    ugh, 'quality of life'

isnt that statesman speak for never gonna happen?

like no TO enhancement drops after a certain lvl, being able to turn off certain powers graphics or sounds, customising power graphics etc...

all of which have been on the 'quality of life' list since the game started 15 months ago

    [/ QUOTE ]

And a 3rd Power Tray, Timed Mission Timer in the Compass, Seeing Enhancements without going into the Place Enhancement Screen, Stores on the Zone Maps, etc.

Some things are easier to do or have higher priority.

As to the changes ... looks cool.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    Umm.....what?

Fighting 7 mobs at a time is "herding"? You sound confused.

A couple posts up you basically said that a level 50 tanker shouldn't be able to fight 2 even level bosses at a time....that it should take 3 heroes for that. Now you act like we're talking about herding a whole map and fighting 100 bosses at a time.

We're not. The discussion is about what statesman said....that a group of 7 even level mobs is designed for 5-6 players. If you consider that herding....well I don't even know what to say. But the FACT is....since day 1 of this game, a level 50 tanker had no problem fighting 7 even level mobs. Ever. For a developer to act like the game was designed for that to be impossible shows that he simply has no idea what he's talking about.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No ... I think you're the one confused.

There is a differance between planning the game around 1 Hero = 3 minions, and how it ended up. Things change. That's the whole point of my post. That level 50 Tank and the fight in RCS was impossable before Issue 1 because neither exsisted prior to it. So it wasn't possable "on day one." Alaso, back then, the Devs wern't looking at Tanks that may or may not have been overpowered, they were looking at Fire/Dev Blasters, because they were what was "overpowered." The forum was full of "City of Blasters" posts and optimized build guides.

Things change. /Respec and fully optimized level 50 builds, Perma-Unstopable Tanks and other such builds, didn't exist before Issue 2. No /respec, no full optimization, no "new" overpowered builds.

Things changed again after Issue 3, into fully optimized Non-Perma-Unstoppable Inv/* Tanks. They didn't exsisted before. How do you fix a nonexsistant overpowered build?

Things change. People learn about the caps and min/max thier character around it. And optimize with /respecs.

Hell, there were posts complaining about the Devs waiting too long to nerf Hasten ... a month and 1/2 into the game. Those were some of the first "The game is doomed" threads too. I could even link to two current threads sugjesting Hasten be nerfed, despite Hasten being nerfed into uslessness 14 months ago. Atleast according to a part of the player base it was "useless." Things change.

The "problem" characters/builds/powers now were either impossable, nonexsistant, or undiscovered 16 months ago. Things change.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
The part where that statement has been a complete joke for A YEAR AND A HALF. I guess we're all supposed to just ignore that year and a half? Pretend it never happened?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Weak. It hasn't been a year and a half.

Prior to Issue 1 the only form of herding was by high level Tanks and Scrappers in low level zones alowing low levels to kill in safty. Min/Maxer had the numbers but no tools to optimize. The tools to "herd" in it's current form are still months off.

Issue 1 Added the Portal Corp missions, giving the PL'ers a place to PL in private. But they could only herd with things like Perma-Unstoppable in those missions.

The Test Center was added. They could now test out powers before accually comitting them to the character. Before this, they were stuck with it. They could be more optimized ... but only slightly.

Issue 2: All heck break loose. They can now optimize thier build. They could base a character solely on Perma-Unstoppable, /respec out of all other Defense powers, and slot attacks. Herding commences based on "Guide Builds."

Issue 3: Perma-Unstoppable becomes impossable. Min/Maxes /respec out on Unstopable and slot up other powers to keep up the need to herd.

Now we have herding in it's current form. 8 Months ago. Did the Devs stop there? Hell no. Wolves got range attacks and stun. Then gave the mission a timer. Ninjas got caltrops. They tried uping minion HPs. Other things.

It takes time for a problem to apear. For it to be noticed. Come up with some ways to deal with it. Choose one and test it out. Revise as needed.

Sure ... mathmaticly it was possable at launch. But back then people were too busy PLing Blasters up to level 40, then 50 Solo.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Telling a level 50 tanker that he needs a team of 5-6 guys to take on a group of SEVEN EVEN LEVEL mobs. Sorry, but no player that's ever played the game for more than 30 seconds could say something like that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What part of 2 Bosses = 3 Heroes do you not understand?

And yes ... I've played City of Heroes considerably longer than 30 seconds.

Well aparently the devs have stoped listening or had a collectivl anurism, i mean, really, only xp if you do dmg, are they bloody daft? I thought they like defenders, then whey are they premelizing any AT that puts team suppor over direct dmg?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *Sigh*

It's not the Devs that had the "anurism".

    [ QUOTE ]
Statesman: If a player is in a zone, did NO damage in a combat and has [been] dead for more than a minute, he receives no XP. If a player is more than 300 ft. away (an increase of 100 ft.) from the mob when it’s defeated and did NO damage, he receives no XP. Otherwise, the player receives his full share of XP.

If players are on a mission map, they always receive their full shares. There’s no distance limitation. Teams can split up in maps – players can be separated by elevators – everyone receives their XP.

This system does not affect Mission rewards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How can you say a support AT is being "penalized" for not doing damage? You ain't supporting you team much if you are back 300 feet munching on Cheetos.

New zone – Croatoa. Supposedly leaked photos indicate that it is a city zone with the third university (two are under construction on live right now). The level range is 25-35. According to a member of the forums who has supposedly seen it, the zone is HUGE. There is no definite information on this, so consider the above educated speculation. This zone will include new missions, contacts, TFs, etc. following the example set by Striga Isle.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a vicious rumor going around that this zone has been pulled from I5...anybody confirm or deny this?

    Pulled?

No commented by a Redname on that, and they talked about it just last week.

I thought Satesman said that Cabal was in Issue 5 durring the Stratics Chat thing last week, or 2 ago. I think it was mentioned that they are the Witches from the Holloween event. Of was a rumor that was started.

Other people have mentioned Red Caps. Red Caps are a mythilogical creature, Norse I think, they were all over "some" island in one of those other MMO's.
