Quote:http://repo.cohtitan.com/mids_updates/db/db_19_210.mhzIs there a place for me to download the Database update seperately without using the In-program updater? Because I can't get the Auto-Updater to go through the proxy for the Update even with the proper authorization on my account (My account is administrator level/priviliges). I even tried running both MHDLoader and Mids.exe via the global adminstrator account (Run as) for my network and still ran into the issue. My Proxy server is a regular ISA client if that makes any difference. And I also have the "ISA Client" program installed on my laptpo which allows me to surpass the proxy and be able to play CoH in my office, but doesn't seem to help with Mids.
EDIT: Figured I'd add that I'm using Win XP SP3 if that makes any difference...though I doubt it.
Download that file, put it in your Mids directory, and rename it to mhd.mhz. Then when you load Mids, it should give you a message about an unapplied update and ask you to apply it. Say yes. -
Quote:Er, yeah, it's Base.dll. It *was* called midsBase.dll when it was VB, but I converted it to C# and changed the name.Reinstall is not fixing it, I also do not have a .DLL named midsBase... just Base.Dll.
Should I change the name?
Thank you for any help!
You should have:
Base.dll - Date modified 2/2/2011
midsControls - Date modified 2/5/2011
ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll - Date modified 8/25/2010
zlib1.dll - Date modified 8/25/2010 -
I think a lot of the perception of the STF being hard comes from the fact that the players that have been around awhile remember what it was like back before IOs, and Real Numbers, and ParagonWiki. The simple fact that we know how much Defense we currently have and how much you need to softcap against Recluse (75%), as well as absolute certainty as to which tower is the one to destroy first, makes the whole thing pretty easy on most teams.

Quote:Huh. Yeah, that's a weird bug. Also, as a "you're doing it wrong" item, if you have one of the respec-assist windows open and you go back to the main window and try to open another one, the first one remains up, but the one you just asked to open apparently gets created and gets the focus, but isn't displayed; because it has the focus, you can't close the first respec-assist window or do anything with the main window, requiring you to force-exit the program and restart it (losing any unsaved data in the process). Admittedly, it's a "well, don't do that, then" situation, but it's something that could happen by mistake.
I am also confused much. :/ It's supposed to flag an update file as being done, but it seems to have problems with that. I wonder if it as has to do with the application cache for Program Files not getting updated... I'm probably going to have to do a reworking of the Updater anyway, since it still has some issues with Win7/Vista (the only known work around is to install Mids somewhere other than C:Program Files; I have it on D:Program Files and it works just fine). -
Quote:The reason for the extra DB update was that a few epic powers had bugged index numbers, and it looks like I missed Bile Spray on MMs and Blasters, so that power won't save/load properly. That will be fixed with the next version. Thanks for the update, but I'm getting a load error on one of my builds. The popup window's name is "ReadSaveData Failed" and error reads "Unable to read data - Unable to read beyond the end of the stream." I assume this means that the save is corrupt? Why did it load fine in the last Mids?
If it helps, the character in question is an Electrical Blast/Fire Manipulation/Leviathan Mastery Blaster. -
Quote:Try running the MHDLoader.exe file as administrator. That should get it to load that properly.Ugh, keep getting the 'A recently updated pack has not been applied' thing at boot up. I seemed to get the mini-fix that was posted a day or so ago twice, which might be causing something whacky.
Not an A grade problem, but it is mildly irritating everytime I boot up to have to let it fix itself everytime. -
We've had one other person report this (with only Cardiac and Musculature), so it seems to be something the two of you have in common. He also reported that the text was overlapping a bit, which makes me wonder if it isn't some kind of system display/font issue.

Quote:It looks like it isn't detecting whether or not Inherent powers are active anymore. I know it got broken as part of some changes I made earlier, but I thought I fixed it (more likely, I fixed it, but the fix got lost in a Merge between DeProgrammer and myself). It'll get fixed with the next version.Domination is on, mouse pointer is on Mesmerize, but the Info window doesn't indicate an increase to the duration of the control. It used to, it doesn't now. It's not just Mesmerize, it's all powers, just like Scourge, Containment and Vigilance aren't showing a damage buff for any powers.
-
Usually this happens whenever one of the DLL files is missing (midsBase and midsControls). Doing a full reinstall should fix it.
-
Yeah, that's a known issue... I didn't add it to the save/export/import functions, so when it loads a character it will load it as the default affiliation. Next version will be upgraded to full Hero/Villain/Vigilante/Rogue options (so as to better handle the specific Temps), and that status will be added to the save.
-
I was able to load that character and add Incarnate power just fine... Do you want to try doing a clean install (uninstall, then manually wipe the folder)? Maybe there's something screwy with your DB.
In other news, a minor DB update was released to fix some epic powers. Mids will grab it via auto-update. -
Strange... Do you have a character loaded? If so, can you post the import code of the character that this is happening on?

Quote:The popup on powers is not taking into account the Alpha Slot; the enhancement only shows up in the "Enhance" tab.Quote:Also, note the little disclaimer on the popup explicitly saying it doesn't take Alpha slotting into account, showing only slotted enhanced values.
Methinks Leandro needs some new glasses
This was done because, unlike the Data View window on the left, there is no ability to do a mouseover of the Enhancement numbers to find out how much of the enhancement comes from your slots and how much comes from the Alpha Slot. My choices were to either overloaded the popup with enhancement data, making it difficult to read, or to choose between displaying the final amount or the pre-Alpha Slot amount, and I chose the later because I felt that would be more immediately useful to people when they are filling their slots.
Quote:The accolades are not taking into account global bonuses, for example, Recharge. I have 208.75% recharge, yet Eye of the Magus still says it recharges in 1500 seconds. -
Quote:This is actually the original intention, but the custom control didn't support it well so I scrapped it for time. This will probably be implemented next version.Something...It's not a bug or anything...but..a QoL?
In the past when we selected accolades we had the ability to Click them on/off to see the difference in our stats, or at least to be aware that we did infact select our accolades. I wonder if you can rework that feature for Accolades and add it for the incarnate button too?
Like I said it's nothing major but I quickly noticed it when I started working on a couple occasions I kept thinking "Did I enable my accolades and Alpha?".
Quote:Damage per second for [Hail of Bullets] is... amusing. Also: probably bugged. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to do more than 4000 damage per second for about 4 seconds.
Quote:Scroll wheel doesn't work for the Incarnate window.
Quote:Opening the Incarnate window and closing it, then opening it again is causing the window to creep towards the right each time.
In both of the above cases we're using standard System.Windows.Forms forms and panels, so this behavior is really odd. -

Quote:That's a bug... We had to change some of the mouse click events to support the Drag'n'Drop, and it seems we missed one.Question on new Mids - once you've placed a slot, how do you go by moving it somewhere else? The old Mids, you just double click it and you can pick it up, but the new Mids doesn't seem to do that anymore? o_O
I'll go beat DeProgrammer around the ears until he fixes it.

Quote:This feature kind of came out of left field. There is a Suggestions forum for Mids at the Titan site, and somebody named mykos1 put in a suggestion for it. DeProgrammer decided "hey, I think I can do this..." and by the time I read the thread and got a hold of him to ask whether he wanted to do it, it was almost done. A very unexpected but pleasant surprise.I know the Alpha slot is going to be the high point of this release for a lot of people, but this feature deserves just as much attention and appreciation. Really wonderful improvement to the program, going to be very useful. Thank you very much.

It's been a bit since the release of Issue 19 and Mids 1.90 and 1.91, and we've now had the I19.5 Strike Pack hit, and people are wondering: where's Mids? Well, it's right here! It took a great deal of time and effort, and a lot of testing, but we've got the Alpha Slot implemented completely - including the Rare and Very Rares from the Strike Pack!
And just to show how sorry we are for keeping you waiting, we've thrown a couple little QoL improvements in there, too. Just read and find out what!
MidsÂ’ Hero/Villain Designer 1.92 - February 2011 (link)
New features:- Introduction of Incarnate Abilities! All of the Alpha Slot abilities are available in the Incarnate button on the top right corner of the Mids screen.
- Drag and Drop reordering of already selected powers! Slot levels will change automatically as necessary. There are a lot of options for this feature; they can be found under a new tab in the Configuration window.
- Temp Powers and Accolade powers now have their own buttons at the top, next to the Incarnate button, no longer taking up valuable real estate in the Inherent section (once again, the Inherent section has been reordered)
- A Hero/Villain toggle added at the top right, changing the color of the skin and what accolades are available to the character.
- Export Data Link menu option added to Exports, it copies just the url of the Data Link to your clipboard
Fixes & changes- Fixed bug causing the automatic scaling to work at an accelerated rate
- PvP Set Bonuses should now appear and apply properly
- Shield Breaker Defense set should now stack properly with other sources of Defense enhancement
- IOs should now max at 50, not 53
- Fixed bug causing the enhancement flip animation to play in the wrong spot
- Recipe viewer now shows non-crafted enhancements on your checklist (like Hami-Os).
- Recipe viewer should now sort in a more OCD manner.
Known Issues- Windows Vista and Windows 7 have issues with the updater due to UAC interfering with writing to the Program Files folder. Many of these problems can be resolved by (a) installing as Administrator, (b) running Mids as Administrator, or (c) installing Mids to a different location than the Program Files folder.
- Diminishing Returns for PvP mode have not yet been added, all buffs currently show their full, unmodified values.
- The Power Graphs for the current build do not display effects for pseudo-pet powers like Ice Storm. This does not affect the Powerset Comparison, which is now fully aware of pseudo-pets.
- 60 Month Vet reward button not added. *This means taking a Tier 3 travel pool power at level 6 or higher is automatic for everyone. *You need to know whether or not you are eligible for this reward or you must take your travel power at level 14 or higher.

Yeah, that's the time for the daily maintenance where it backs up all the data (and there's a LOT of data, believe me, given CIT and whatnot)... It's something like 5 AM EST, and I know for a fact that it should be finished by 6 AM EST (there's a job that runs every day at that time to make certain the server is up).
-
Quote:That's tough to say, since a Blaster will often have powers in their secondary to fall back on, and those are usually better than any of the powers in Dual Pistols for single targets (especially for things like Energy Punch or Bonesmasher). When we're simply talking single targets, the highest DPA power in Dual Pistols is actually the Tier 1, Pistols, followed by Piercing Rounds, Executioner's Shot, and Dual Wield, in that order. Those last three powers, though, are almost identical in terms of their DPA, and once you factor in ArcanaTime, all four of the powers mentioned get very close together.Apologies if this has been stated before, but what is the best DPS chain for Dual Pistols? What kind of Recharge would said attack chain require?
This basically means that, so long as we're not looking into complicated things like juggling ammunition (so that it's on Fire for every attack except Piercing Rounds, where it is Lethal so you can get the -Res) and Defiance, your top attack chain for straight Dual Pistols is something like: Pistols > (choose Piercing Rounds, Executioner's Shot, or Dual Wield) > repeat. -
The ParagonWiki server has daily maintenance in the middle of the night where it will be down for a short bit (less than an hour). And yesterday, the host had some problems and it was down unexpectedly.
-
It will be very easy, if a little time consuming since you have to add every single effect one at a time. I'm sure somebody will come up with an unofficial patch or something but because of the issue regarding Static Indices (as listed above), any character saved with the wrong alpha power selected might not load properly (or at all) once an official update is around.
-
One of the major reasons for DB breakage is the fact that Powersets and Powers are stored in arrays and their position in the array is used as the reference number to keep track of them. This "Static Index" is the thing that is recorded when you save a build or export or use Sentinel. If a power has an invalid Static Index or something happens to change a Static Index of an existing power/powerset, then the whole thing goes bonkers.
Up until 1.9, if you made a new power, the Static Index would be 0 until you saved, at which point it would get rewritten to the highest number. There was a bug with this, though, so in certain cases it would wind up with a lower number, causing a re-index of the list and the whole thing would break. In 1.9, I fixed it. I normally don't document fixes to the DB Editor, but there have been a few in 1.9 and 1.91.
Screwing up enhancements is part of this same thing, because Set Bonuses are actually powers, and they get stored in the same array. So while Multistrike might be saying "4th Set Bonus is Power #2342", the number 2342 might suddenly mean something completely different.
It's certainly more stable now than when that post was made (I believe Steiner worked on it, too, before he left), but it's still risky. -
I was gonna say... We use the DB editor pretty regularly. It works quite well... It's just that it's very easy to break the DB.
Adding a new power is really, really easy, though.
