<<0x000000EA error in nv4_disp for endless loop.

Since recent patch 2.4 of WoW, things aren't not working properly, lots of people are complaining about their computers crashing every 20 minutes. Not my case, but it's annoying.

After several attempts with the option "Disable auto restart when system fails" (an option you can find after pressing F8) I find something like 0x000000EA (0x84BB1598, etc) in the nv4_disp file because it has gone into an endless loop.

Without being an expert, it seems an error from Nvidia, you have to update your drivers, but the error will keep showing up unless you do the update in a certain way, even more often than before.

You can check it easily in the device properties, then check details, so you can see if the ".dll" files are not signed when they should be.

My card drivers (XFX 6800GT XXX) are from Summer 2007, latest version for this card in Nvidia website is from the end of 2007.

Step by step:
1. Download last drivers and uninstall the one you already have.
2. Startup your pc in safe mode.
3. Search in C:\Windows "nv4*.*" and delete every single file you can find.
4. Install new drivers.
5. Check that nv4_disp is now signed.>>

Funniest thing is the website where I found my solution (I hope it works properly, at least I haven't had ny blue screen yet, but several freeze screens, one of them costed me a death in-game) were talking several players about having the same problem in WoW, that gives me confidence that the problem is Nvidia, not this our lovely game.

Lets see... after another blue screen detention error, as I had untick automatic restart following Al advice, I've been able to see that the file that was causing me problems was "nv4_disp"; I've made some research on my own and I've uninstalled Nvidia Display Drivers, which were already 175.16 version, then I've started Windows XP in safe mode, I've deleted all my "nv4" files and now I'm running a new installation from scratch, I'll update it if anything wrong happens again.

I'll take you advise and disable that auto-reboot option, Al; I haven't had any problems last 2-3 nights after downloading fot 3rd time Nvidia 175.16 drivers version, but it's true there were the graphic card ones; when I have some free time I'll check who's the manufacturer of my circuit board and I'll search for updated drivers aswell, if my graphic card was out-of-date, it's possible my circuit board is too. Besides, I won't be back to that store, it's not fair having to update drivers on a almost new pc (just a month or so).

Updating situation:

Watching I'm still having the same problem (screen freezes, then turns blue with lots of words and numbers, and then my pc reboots on its own accord, and when it's back I see a window saying system has recovered from a serious mistake -literal translation- with a link to the same website already shown in my previous post), I've uninstalled and downloaded 175.16 Nvidia drivers version for 3rd time.

But I'm suspecting this is not a Nvidia problem, but an Issue 12 one, as usual after an Issue is released these forums are filled with tech problems.

I know it's too soon for asking this, specially as my psi/mind blaster is only lvl 8, and it's even possible I delete my psi blaster, but meanwhile I was wondering what would you suggest me to take as a Mastery.

My fire/fire one already has Flame Mastery, which fits nice with him, besides having your own self-rez being a blaster is quite useful, but I thought it could be cool a change for my psi one. Any suggestion?

It was indeed fun, and, like you, I got rubbish salvages and recipes; at least my 1st attempt, which took place in Union, I earned 1 Pangean, 1 Essence of Furies and 1 purple recipe, but the most important now is I only have 2 characters left to run this tf and earn its badges, hehe.

Shocked reading this post, I was so proud my own Wolf Spider / Crab was lvl 25 8 days after his creation, and you have reached 50 in more or less the same time!

I don't mind trying a second run, it would be a good chance for doing it with 2 different characters.

I don't mind using my rad troller or my rad corruptor, we would have more control with the 1st one or more attack with the 2nd one... as far as both of them are in Cimerora, I'll start with my troller (Hielo Radiactivo) but I would be able to switch easily to my corruptor if needed.

I don't know if you have read my previous post, but I can provide 2 rads, a troller and a corruptor.

I'm in Nine Claws, long time without teaming; already done this tf with my blaster and my stone tanker, but I can provide ice/rad controller, rad/rad corruptor, elec/elec brute or dark miasma MM, up to you to select which one fits best.

Yay, much better the 2nd time; this one I used a blaster in Defiant, and even having a major blue screen problem that rebooted my pc near the end, we managed to separate Romulus from the Nictus, defeated them and then him, and he didn't rez, it took us less than 2 hours to complete it!

Now I've completed it twice, it's time for me to run it another 6 times for my other 50s.

thx guys; I've already been introduced to Brick, but I haven't done any mission from him yet, and I didn't know if I had to go back to Kalinda or Burke (Kalinda in my case) as usual or there was any other contact around apart from Brick.

I've been playing with one of my VEATS and he's actually lvl 13-14, and I had heard that at lvl 10 you would get a mission for 2nd slot costume, 10 lvls earlier than any other AT, my question is who's the contact for that mission? My VEAT is a Wolf Spider.

You were lucky Xtream, because in my 1st run half ot the team had gone or was afk, we were 1 brute, 1 tanker, 1 blaster and me (dark miasma/archery defender). It was near 4 a.m. when we gave up, after defeating Romulus 3 times (O.O?) and it was standing only a Nictus, which we couldn't defeat because it healed from us when closed range.

We sent tells to the rest of the team according to finish it the next day, and we did so, just doing the last mission again, he rezzed 3-4 times but being a full team we managed to finish. Our guess was the same as yours, he used the nictus to rez, but the fact is in our 2nd attempt we had separated him from the nictus, and he was able to rez anyway, a teammate suggested maybe he used us to rez himself, as we were near his corpse.

Posted a question in the Bug thread but no one has asked me, maybe you can help me, well, it's not exactly help what I need, but someone who can answer me; when I created my wolf spider in "Live", I saw I could select also Crab/Bane costume, and I was wondering if it was a bug, according to the fact that I was lvl 1 and Bane and Crab are unlockable until you reach lvl 24 (¿?)

I agree with you Shock, just followed your link and read the sad news. It's always sad hearing someone has passed away, but reading all that other players have posted there makes this moment really touching. It makes you think about what's really important in life.

Never mind, I played in Union and defeated several GMs, so it was worth being online anyway.
