  1. I'm suspecting that it's just that there's so much going on, they need two days to do all the maintenance.

EDIT: BTW, 672 mb patch going on right now. Same size as the pre-download. Meaningful? I haven't a clue.
  2. Carp Melee primary/Monkey Enema secondary!

    EVERYONE'S HAPPY!
  3. That would be a correct assumption.
  4. Well, it's not like you use Nova every few seconds like most powers, but I suppose you have a point.

    Stances Coming?

    Lothic enjoys lower back pain:

Here's hoping that (like Ninja Run itself) this new stance feature is going to be another obvious ripoff of that other game.
To be honest, I'd like to be able to turn that whole "hunched over" bit on Ninja Run off. It looks dumb and impractical to me.

    Samuel_Tow didn't like it:

People refer to this as the golden days of the game, but for me, this was the most miserable, wretched experience I've ever had the utter misfortune to be part of. I guess most people had come from DAOC or EQ or SWG and that's what they "did," but for me, this was not only an alienating, unfriendly experience, but it was also godawful boring.
I wasn't there, but all the stories have convinced me I'd have felt the same way. I might have found it interesting at first, but really, how many times can you herd whole zones into a garbage can with little risk without it becoming dull as dishwater? I'd have probably quit after a month or two back then.

    Forbin_Project has mistaken identity:

If your Virtual Lad, who's running AE Monkey? I thought that was you.
Nope, never heard of AE Monkey. He doesn't...fling things, does he?

Golden Girl forgets the obvious one:

I don't really have any rules for playing, weird or non-weird
Except for the whole "I'm only going to have one character" thing.

Weird rules I make for myself? Dear lord...
Your entire CoX career is one long set of weird rules.

    1. Never use numbers or deliberate mispellings to get a name (ie. Frosty Lad 2 or Fir3 Girl or Robotronnn) I cringe every time I see someone else do it.
How do you feel about hyphens? Those have been my saving grace many times.

    5. Get to at least level 2 before jumping on a sewer team. Not having rest in the sewers is a major pain.
That reminds me of another one of mine. EVERYONE does the tutorial. EVERYONE gets Isolator (EDIT: or Jail Bird). And I come out in Atlas or Galaxy (EDIT: or Mercy) already level 2!

    6. Always log off in a day job location. If I have to quit quickly because of some RL emergency, I'll always log on later to move the character. I even log into old characters I never play to move them around once in a while.
Oh, yes, absolutely. I'm not sure that's really that weird a rule, though.

EDIT: Oh, and just because it's funny, you misspelled misspelling.
  11. Yup, I use that Macro for USAce, except he doesn't yell anything, he changes costumes to his "temporal energy" form.

    Samuel_Tow doesn't worry, bes happy:

I don't make a habit of wondering if people aren't talking about me behind my back, because it makes no difference.
I simply assume they are. People talk behind other people's backs. It's normal and natural.

Samuel_Tow is seeing varying levels of newb:

Why do so many the "back in my day" posts talk about the Hollows and how people were Newbs then? That thing came out in I2, which was, what, half a year after release? I mean, I get that every person who joined was a newb once, but why the propensity of the Hollows horror stories and so few of the Perez Park stories? I mean, that used to be where everyone hung out before.
I think maybe because part of being a newb for a couple of years was not knowing you didn't have to take Wincott's missions and go through all the Hollows stuff. That one's almost as prevalent as "don't try to enter the tram at the exit".

I don't know what back-in-the-day horror stories there are for Perez Park. Wasn't that full of people slaughtering stuff in mass quantities? Not much to have horror about except maybe getting lost in the maze.
  14. USAce (the Human Fighter Jet!) never touches the ground unless forced to.

Every time my hyperactive speedster Headlong stops, he has to go into the waiting emote.

Virtual Lad is MA-only and must never ever fight "real" enemies (his mom says it's too dangerous). If he gets too close and someone fires at him while he's zipping over to WW, he has to run away. He is never allowed to set foot in any "Hazard Zone" (including the PvP zones), and there are several Day Jobs and other badges he can't have because of this. The first thing he must do after zoning anywhere, including into missions, is to spawn H.A.R.O.L.D. (Human Adolescent Restriction Of Liberties Device), the clunky clockwork babysitter robot his mother makes him take along with him.

The Knight-Watchman is currently suffering from a Council-induced "lycanthropy" and must transform into a giant man-bat thing when it's dark out (:25-:35 and :55-:05 of every hour).

EVERYONE does the cape and aura missions, whether they're going to use them or not.
  15. Myself, I'm hoping for a change in that once they let the "Primals" into Praetoria, but I guess we'll see what we shall see.

Acemace gets out his beatin' stick:

Matt Miller said you would be able to level via MA the very same way you would with dev content from 1 through 50, all while exploring the limits of your, and everyone else's, creativity.
He did and you can. In fact, I still am, with my MA-only toon, Virtual Lad.

    Bad_Influence was there:

They basically stripped 98% of the rewards out of AE, rendering mostly useless a system they had devoted an entire issues' worth of thought to.
If the break point for you is the rewards, then you really didn't know what the purpose of AE was supposed to be. That said, they did screw up a bit, allowing too many exploits to leave Beta and then bringing the hammer down (although I was GREATLY amused by the uproar over Posi's "Dad voice" post. ) and having the rewards too high to begin with.

Sometimes people just wanna have fun. If they are paying a subscription to do it.... I don't know. All I wish is that we had those ragequit people back. We could use 'em.
I don't, but that's the kinda thing that makes horse races. Ragequitters would find something else down the line to ragequit about anyway.
  18. Quote:
    Bad_Influence needs to watch qualifiers:

But all that aside, how on earth do you know that all the new people who came in "wouldn't have stuck around very long anyways"?
He didn't say "all the new people". He said the ones that left because of exploit fixes. If someone is of the mindset that fixing exploits is something bad, then they wouldn't hang around this game very long, as fixing exploits is a high priority on the devs' list. Many of those only came here (or were sticking around at the time) because of the whole "PL to 50 in twenty minutes" thing.

"Is that anywhere near Atlas Park?"
  19. Quote:
    Bad_Influence revels the issues:

... I think my chagrin can be laid at the doorstep of, "...but I had no idea these people were really like this." A few of these people I have known for years.
Oh, understandable, and live and learn. And if they're reasonably close friends, I wouldn't hesitate to call them on their jackassery. Some people have a tendency to be self-involved and not think of others until it gets brought up to them. They may not even realize they're being jackasses unless you tell them.

    Stances Coming?

Depends. If I turn it on and it happens every time I stop and stand still for a few seconds, it's a Stance. If I have to turn it on every time to make it happen, it's an Emote.
  21. The "items pack" that doesn't come with the online purchase from NCSoft.
  22. Well, certainly. Your point isn't "Vent is bad", your point is "If you use Vent, don't be an jackass about it", right? I usually avoid that by not playing with people who are jackasses.
