Take all 4 Presence Powers and take all 4 leadership powers to a Stone/Energy build and and make sure to skip any status effect protection powers. :'(

It's October 19th, but I seen no mention of a Halloween Event this year and it's fair to say that they CoH/CoV staff is very busy right now so I can see it not coming out at all. But I was curious if anybody here has heard anything about the Halloween Event or thinks they know when it's coming out anyways?

I am gonna start by saying that clearly, It's a bad idea to take all 4 leadership powers and turn down Confront, Grant Cover, Shield Charge and Against All odds, even on a second build.

Buffing is what Controllers and Defenders are for mainly.

So I am just gonna keep one build, not bother with two builds and save my Infamy on having to buy more salvage and recipes for IO Enhancements and just take all 4 fitness powers, all 9 Shield Powers, Combat Jumping and Superjump for travel, and just take everything in Broadsword except for confront and just sleep on it some more on what else I wanna take.

That is true, I have no need for confront. I should look for something else to take, I'll need time to sleep on it. My guess would be Conserve power since I got no Recovery or Endurance stealing powers and I got like 3-4 Expensive Toggles I need to keep running. My assumption is that groups like the defense that Grant Cover gives.

I am also tempted to make a second build and instead of taking Confront, Grant Cover, Shield Charge and Against all odds, I just take all four leadership powers for group play instead.

I should sleep on that as well. The thinking on this decision is to be more team friendly by not using as many powers that compete with Tankers for aggro. To hit buffs for all the team members that really help Dark Miasma, Radiation, and Kinetics Defenders and controllers Heal and debuff better. A Group Defense buff that gives myself AND my team a defense buff at a cost of a much lower defense bonus. I frequently have a hard time getting to mobs on teams and getting in kills to convince team leaders that I am not leeching XP, so I am now giving extra damage and other buffs to team members in my way as well as to myself. Most teams I go on, insist on cranking up difficulty to the max and I frequently get myself killed since the healers get overhwelmed, so I will now have vengeance to help out the team some until I get a Rez.

There are only two archetypes I like playing in City of Heroes and City of Villains currently. That is the Scrapper and the Brute. I only have three characters that are level 50 and was refusing to make more Characters.
I have an Illusion/Empathy Controller that was awesome, and is still playable and players like having me take it on Task Forces. But I really don't like playing that character much. I don't want to delete it because its my oldest character so I just play it now and then to keep the dust off.
I also have an Electric Melee and Electric Armor Brute and a Claws and Willpower Scrapper. Both are awesome and fun to play. So much fun in fact, that when Issue 16 comes out, I want a Claws/Willpower Brute and an Electric Melee and Electric Armor Scrapper.
I have also decided to break down and add a Shield Defense scrapper because of the cool shields. The Damage Resistance is weak and offers no Psionic Damage Resistance which is of concern when Fighting the Carnival of Shadows and Rularuu especially. But I noticed the Defense is pretty high and though it doesn't specifically say it offers protection against Psionic Attacks, It does offer Melee, Ranged and Area of Effect defense, which should be enough.

Anyways,I want Broadsword for the Primary powerset for my shield toon. But I am really worried about not having a ranged attack since I want all 9 Broadsword Powers, all 9 Shield Defense Powers, the Entire Fitness Pool, and Combat Jumping and Superjump. But that leaves me no room to dip into epic powers to get a ranged attack.
I know on my Electric Melee and Electric Armor Brute I had alot of problems on the Mayhem Missions since the Longbow Ambushes would send like 6-8 Longbow Eagles after me and those mobs would fly high above me where I couldn't hit them and they would shoot me like crazy. I had to run inside the nearest building and have them follow me inside where I can take em out. I did Scirocco's Story Arc and got his Patron Power and took Mu lightning and Ball Lightning instead of taking Jacob's Ladder and Thunderclap so I could take out those Eagles in outdoor missions. I also made sure I got Air Superiority to help knock out those flying foes since I wanted Fly as a Travel Power anyways.
Claws and Willpower offer Focus and Shockwave and I use those to take out flying foes. Shockwave is also fun to use during the winter event if you have caltrops, I used to drop the Caltrops on the Winter Lord Elite Boss and hit him while he is running out of the Caltrop Field and when he left the field,I would nail him with Shockwave and make him fly backwords, back inside the field and pound him again while he is leaving. Focus helped keep him in the Caltrops Field longer since I would knock him down inside the Caltrops field.
But I can't recall if City Of Heroes has Flying Foes that fly out of range of melee attacks and pound on you with ranged attacks besides the Freakshow Stunners and Rularuu Wisps. I know my Scrapper shouldn't encounter Longbow unless I do an AE mission with them in it right now.

But do you guys encounter Flying foes like this or other situations we need to worry about having no ranged attacks? I think my Broadsword/Shield Scrapper will be fine, I just want to verify it.

I want to start by sharing my thoughts on the AE or MA or whatever it's called. I really love it! I hope that not only does CoH and CoV keep it going and keep making improvements, but I hope other PlayNC games like Aion will get something like this, also. I want to not only keep my CoH/CoV subscription, but I would want to also subscribe to Aion also!

Anyways, I have two questions.

1) Do you need to back up and files on an external hard drive to save your missions if your computer crashes or breaks?

2.) I am aware that unless you buy more Story Arc Slots, you can only publish 3, but how many story arcs can you save total?
I got two I really want to keep, but I want to unpublish them temporarily to make room for more story arcs until I can afford to buy the 5 more AE published slots, but I am worried about those story arcs getting deleted because they aren't published.

I e-mailed tech support and they told me that they are planning to make future updates that will help deal with the problem.

Once, twice a week is fine, I can deal with it, but I am getting like 4-5 or more a day! That is just too much.

Oh and I would simply hit the spam e-mail button, but it doesn't do any good and it one time made it to where I would get mapserved and not allowed back in game. Though the tech support ficed that part.

I am getting WAY WAY WAY too much spam from [censored] and other websites trying to sell me influence and it's really getting out of hand. The other day, I let my toon stay offline for 2 days and came back to find like 24 e-mails from these people. I am really tired of having to delete these e-mails and put up with this harassment.

Is there a way to disable my e-mail nobody else e-mails me or to put a stop to these harassing e-mails?

I figured since we can openly talk about CoV and I saw my Bro-in-law play the game and fight Skulls and Hellions,I figured i'd ask.I never player BETA myself becuase it's on a test server,not a real server like Virtue on City of Heroes,the test server runs awful everytime I see it and the Non Discolosure Agreement was in place and I got a big mouth,so I turned it down.

Since I am asking questions,think the Carnies will be in CoV also?

Also,if you watch the Xmen moviesyou'll notice all the heros were born with thier powers (Magneato Rules!!!!) whose to say in Coh you can't play a Mutant who was born with the ability to convince others that the are hurt badly or can manifest Decoys that will hurt you as well as the ability the accelerate other metabolisms?

Science is good, things go wrong in the world of science and playing with radation can make wierd things happen to you or you got bitten by an Alien bug in Area 51 *shrugs* The Hulk and Spiderman are good examples

Natural,well,thats a tough one,but possible Robin,Batman and Punisher are examples of Natural Heroes.If I recall right something tragic happened to them and caused to be superhero they are today.Whos to say you aren't an Alien from another planet that was destroyed by the Rikti or if you put on a tech suit,Your parents could've been slayed by a man in a suit while trying to invent a suit with illusion and Radioactive powers and you got ahold of it and decided to fight crime?

Magic? Need I explain more? You could've gotten magical artifacts somehow or anything! Raven in Teen Titans on the cartoon is a actually a good example of a Magic Origin type,though it's possible to be a sorcerer or find an artifact such a necklace or have some kind of outside from another plane of existance give such powers.

Just basically use your imagination and have fun and remember to BE the character you want to make.

Well,Technology is a good approach instead of mutation or Natural and you can always create the Character in a metal Body Suit.It's how I did my Empathy/Lightning Blast Defender.Maybe some brilliant INventor gave your character a body armor suit that has strange Radio active powers on top of the ability to convince bad guys that they took a buncha damage or manifest Phantasms, and can cloak nearby allies as well even mysteriously heal and accelerate nearby allies' Metabolism!
You don't even have to mention where you got the suit,you just got it! If I recall right in the Teen Titans Cartoon, Slade had a suit (for all we know,he could've bought it at a dollar store or just pulled it out of his trunk) that he gave Terra that allowed him to control Terra's Body and he had a huge Robot army and there was no mention how he got that stuff or if he made it himself and if Slade is allowed to have a suit that can control Terras Body,then you are allowed to have a suit that can Emit Strange Radioactive powers AND Emit Strange Illusion powers!

Still need a Story?Pretend you are an English High School Student thats been given an Assignment to pick out your favorite Action/Superhero Story and write a Fan Fiction Essay based on the aftermath of it containing an Imaginary Hero in you made up,then come up with a paragraph after the story describing the profile of your made up hero,with a Challanging twist: You must have it speak in 3rd party (E.G. Somebody annonymous who has some clue and knowledge of your character and is describing this character for you.) and this person,MUST not know who the hero you were assisting is,but has some kind of idea of what your hero did with the heroes in your story.For Example,Instead of saying "before John Q Hero came to Paragon City,he helped a Superhero in Gotham City Known as Batman defeat the Psychotic ICe Cream Man from selling contaminated Ice Cream that was turing innocent Children into killer Pug Men with Psionic Powers that could charm people into commiting Hienous crimes!",You would type something like "John Q Hero is said to have come from another city where he helped a well known Superhero defeat an Eccentric Former Ice Cream Man who was selling Contaminated Ice Cream!" and leave it at that.Also in the profile,in addition to leaving out places such a Gotham City,Metropolis, the Planet Krypton,leave out names such as Clark Kent,Bruce Wayne,BAtman,Superman,stuff big superheros fans know and just refer to them in the profile as Well known superhero or a reporter for the local News or a well known private Millionaire and do the same thing with criminals.I did that where the story contained 3 of my characters I play in CoH.The Story was originally based on the Teen Titans Cartoons in the direct aftermath of "Aftershock" that me and a friend of mine at work made up to see how the story would turn out and we wound up feeling so original,we left the teen Titans out of the whole mess completely and made the story into it's own original story!
The way I wrote the profile on my characters,nobody could tell that they were characters copied from me and my friends Teen Titans fiction (Robin who?I think I know him. :P) and I got a few compliments on the profile!

Need a name! No problem,get a strat guide and turn to page 156 and read on! They give good advice and in addition,get to a Bookstore and look around,they have books that are designed to help you come up with names for independent File Screenplay/movies and they can help you make a name for your hero!

And Finally don't hesitate to make and remake your toon a few times,to see if you can get your playstyle right,nothing worse than playing a superhero you hated and is stuck with it.

My Roleplayer.Sir Godwine doesn't consider himself super at all or even a hero at all.He is just a person,who tries to help others.Although I picked him as a magic origin,most of his powers are not his own,but have been given to him by a powerful protector on another plane of existance, as long as he is good of heart.....
