Extreme mind control, and extreme dark miasma should also be used sparingly imo, because very little players have fear protection, and fears are quite overpowered when used on players.

One way I found to get around this is to work in an ally that has the Empathy set, as I find that it spams clear mind quite a bit
That way I can make the Elite or AV that I want for the story and still make it possible to play with a non-mez protected player or team. -
Personally I'm having a blast
For me it isn't about making something popular or 5 stars. I just wanted to make something that's fresh and more than your standard radio/farm. If that means no one plays it but myself and the pugs I get together then so be it.
I just put up my first arc this morning and I'm pretty proud of it, even with the size constraints limiting my vision somewhat. And I can't deny that being able to put some of my 5 year old characters in the game as allies and AVs is an almost out-of-body experience -

Downloaded the 32bit ISO today but haven't burnt or installed it yet.
As I haven't heard of any radical improvements over vista, I don't have high hopes, but just as with vista, I'll run the beta for a while to see what's what.

You need to pay more attention to the newsThere are benchmarks popping up that show it's a vast improvement over Vista and comes up above XP as well. That's pretty radical

Searching around right now shows 7 beating Vista and XP on boot times. And that's about it.

Hmmm interesting. Wonder why this shows differently.

I'll get more excited when I see some gaming benchmarks...right now that's all just file system and installation stuff. Some of which might end up in Vista SP2 anyway -

UPDATE: I would like to report that Death Bane's fix of turning off your Depth of Field and Bloom works nicely. My character log-in screen now looks as it should. Good-bye black & white vertical lines and overlap.
1000 thank-you's Death

Cool! you're welcome
Yeah this one seems kind of random as for who gets it when...I'm using a Geforce 7300 GS OC with 158.18 drivers and I actually had the grey screen/interlacing overlap all the time till I findled around with the settings and found with either DoF or Bloom on, it'll come back instantly, but works normal with both off.
And thanks everyone for all the fixes on here...using them the only difference I have is a loss of a couple FPS and an ugly looking cursor...certainly playable and I think the key is lots of RAM, I'm running 3GB. So now it's just a driver/patch wait -

Ive tried the cursor fixes and I still cant see my cursor, I am also getting that nasty gray screen and screen over lap when I try to create a character. Ive running vista on a new dell xps any Ideas what i should try or do?

Well for me the grey screen and overlap was fixed once I turned off Depth of Field and Bloom in game... -
I remember with my beta char not realizing multiple enh stack on the same power
I remember when Perez Park had a glitch that caused all the spawns to not recycle but keep respawning (think skulls as far as the eye can see)
I remember using an AR/Dev blaster in the beta and being the only Dev blaster around
I remember seeing Dr Vahz and realizing for the first time there really are AVs in this game -
I remember when the Vahz desease wouldn't come off after I completed the mission...and still beating Dr. Vahz with it
I remember when emps were considered obsolete past lvl 32
I remember when all the TF were down and none of the trials worked
