    This suggestion is in NO way influenced by the fact that I was recently introduced to FABLES and I think that Bigby Wolf is way cool! =D =D

    That being said, I would LOVE to have an alternate animation for the Claws set that was Wolf/Great Wolf, using the Wolf/Dire Wolf body types! Thoughts? Criticisms? Complaints?

  8. so the 'Sweet Spot' for Doms is 23 (slotted with SOs) to 40 (or whenever you hit AV/Monster mish where your Primary is nullified by Purple Triangles)

  9. Whats really funny to me, a study of Irony, is to use Dominator tactics on */Kinetics or */Storm controllers. Grab two attacks (flurry and air superiority work best) to simulate the Dominators heavy HtH attacks and control one, debuff another then immobilize and kill a third.

    Do it, I dare you!

    Then come back and say dominators don't need a damage buff to make them even close to parity!!

    The sad thing is, the fast cycling Power Pool attacks are even better than Ice Sword/Total Focus in terms of DPE!

    I'm only playing controllers whil waiting Patiently (almost) on Dominators to get some long deserved Dev Love!!
  10. I just mention that to point out most dominators I've seen need some...guidance perhaps...

    Heh, my first blaster sucked, I fully admit that one. And even after I fixed it with a Respec and some forum reading, he still sucked because despite being Ex Army Artillery, I don't like performing Fire Support (or waking up at 5am, but I digress)

    I have noticed in getting my IllusionRad to 50 and my experiments with Gravity/Kinetics and Mind/Kinetics that I like Active Defense. Which is why I wish my Dominators played more like any of the above or my Ice/Energy Blapper. They aren't grossly overpowered but have effective attacks and juggle controls to keep themself safe as opposed to simply throwing up RI/DN or EF

    I just want the AT thats roll is Control and Assault to have parity in Control and Assault to Mind/Kinetics, Ice/Energy or Gravity/Kinetics. Is that unreasonable?

    (ok, maybe not parity with Mass Hypnosis/Fulcrum Shift/Terrorize/Fireball...that sort of Power Cosmic should be in the hands of a select few)

    heh, what other AT do you need a forum guide to make a passable build? Are the majority of the Dominators you team with going to be forum lurkers who have read ever guide to make the best use of the down time between domination to create crack attack chains that optomize control and hth atacks to do the max damage?

    How many guides does it take to use Fury properly?
    How many guides does it take to use Scourge properly?

    I think the title is valid, as one should not have to read multiple guides to make a passable character and since you don't become powerful until your do/so days and you will never reach SO if you delete your toon before you hit 14.

    The majority of players do not read the forums, I hear
    therefore, the majority of dominators, don't, IMHO
  12. The AT does two things, Control and Damage so....

    you could buff damage or you can buff control

    No, I honestly think the proper action is to add secondary effects like slows and such to allow the holds to have more effect, but not take them up to the pre-Nerf AoE controls level

    but that would probably come after another issue, if at all

    its either more control where they might be useful, but is unlikely, or more damage which is easier to code in the short term

    otherwise please tell me how you are helping out (pre-SO) and saving the team, or really the Anchor man taking down Infernal
  13. I've only seen one Ice Dominator (other than my own) and he was in his twenties and Ice Patch is a thing of beauty then!

    Every Dom I've seen run Hot Feet would die again and again and again.

    ..hell, my Fire/Storm contrlller can run Hot Feet and Hurricane and dies again and again and again....

    Without a taunting tank, thats ritualistic suicide
  14. Well, by pulling their weight I mean making the team go faster. When my Sonic/Rad corruptor is teamed with an Electric Brute it is a race to get my debuffs/bufff up and kill some mobs before he punches them all out. When My Brute or Tanker is playing he is taking the alpha strike and killing as fast as he can. My blasters and and controllers kill single targets at a fast rate! My defenders and controllers debuff to save the team and then get to killing fast!

    My Ice/Dark is an Evil God!
    Brute takes the alpha (protected by my Darkest Night) then I Tar Patch/Flrost Breath/Ice Storm and watch the SCOURGE go off...and then use Fearsome Stare!!


    But my Teen-age Dominators?
    Best case scenario is Ice Patch and Flashfire --and they are rarely up, pre-SO,

    so early on the Dominator is slowly killing single whites or blues while someone else takes the alpha and/or debufs and or kills quickly.

    Hell, my Mind Fire used to take the first few seconds to line up TK and even then the Brutes would complain about me moving thieir targets away or the Corruptors about me moving the anchor accidentally!

    I don't call slowly killing singles pulling my weight!

    Then domination would come and I was the hero for 90 seconds, and then once again, a camp follower...
  15. I guess we are just going to have to disagree then. I believe if you are going to make an AT and not imitate the mistakes of Controller pre-containment, you must make them fun and easy to solo. Also they benefit to the team should be obvious to make them wanted by teams and you should not be able to fufill they're roll *better* with other ATs than you can with the AT.

    I should not be able to out-control a controller with a defender, I should not be able to out tank a Tanker with a Scrapper.

    I should not be able to make a Fire Kinetics Controller who control and damages using Power Pool attacks better than my Fire/Energy Dominator. I shoud not be able to do the same with my Ice/Dark Corruptor.

    ...or an Ice/Energy Blapper for that matter!

    I read multiple guides before I made my Dominators, and read the forums, and most warn of the tedium... playing a superhero game should not be tedious, even Pre-SO, especially on V2 of said superheroe game. Especially since they got things right with Brutes and Corruptors. Stalkers are a specialty but still solo well for lotsa good reasons...and they may hit and run (a common practice among Blasters as well) they don't sit around endlessly punching 3 white minions to finally put them to sleep.

    I've been on teams and Ive run teams and pre-SO, its easy to notice the Dominators are not pulling they're weight...and since I play them and have read guides on them I know they are not, its not just assumng since I've seen them from the inside out...

    and that seems unfair on an AT that needs to team to reach 22

    Hmm I must have been doing something wrong because my Ice/Storm Controller couldn't solo worth a lick until 32 when I got Jack andreally didn't become a soloing machine until 33 when I got Jack slotted.

    Heh, I didn't agree. I just saw posting in the forums. Some of the controllers still want damage rolled back, but I think its a joke. The Devs have clearly shown they don't want a City of Statues.

    I just don't understand the whole issue. A) Why they would make the Dominators so dependent on teams early (pre-SO) yet not really that helpful to teams pre-SO...haven't we already seen that with controllers pre containment?

    B) Why the Devs didn't 'Smoke Test' the development of Dominators thru all three levels of play (Pre SO/SO/fighting AVs) so they didn't get this whole drama fest fixed before it rolled out of Beta smelling so badly

    If you don't want to give them more control, you give them more damage.

    Mind achingly boring and tedious, but solo-able.

    Right now my Ice/Fire is 11 and I got killed twice by gold bricks trying to run to my mission site. Kinda frustrating so I logged him and alternated between my Fire/Ice Tank and Fire/Kinetics controller for the rest of last evening.

    well, I tried...

    Its like taking a driving mower on the expressway, you CAN do, but would I recommend it?
  18. All your examples are Post Teens build; while I was talking about Dominators need to team Pre-SO, yet being somewhat leech-ful then and there.

    Also I have a problem with the performance in the late game due to the sheer number of AV mish.

    A long fight and they main contribution is (and I quote) "Sub Par Damage" unless DOMINATION is up, and then they are cool for 90secs!!!!

    Mass Hypnosis?
    Useless if your Brute has a damage shield, or if the Corrupter opens with AoE

    Flashfire??

    The problem is, prior to SO, the recharge is so long you cannot use them regularly.

    So, the devs have recreated the Controller issue solved by containment. I just got my Fire/Storm into SO and finally Flashfire is starting to shine, but before it wasn't dependable as an opener, without a END break after every fight (just waiting for it to pop) I even had a bind to tell everyone (No, Flashfire isn't ready yet)

    Ice Patch is similar and Gravity...heh, they wish they had Flashfire!!
  20. I have several dominators in they're teens and I have teamed with dominators often. My problem is two fold,

    A) I don't see them played effectively (either they are nibbling some mobs to death and leeching at early levels or the get Scrapper Lock during Domination)

    B) I can make a dominator more effectively by adding Pool Attacks to Controllers (my Fire/Kinetics kills in a way my Ice/Fire can only dream of) --and Blappers with holds works well... my Ice/Energy blapper is monstrous

    I've been here since beta and I have clocked a lot of hours, and have seen about two well played Dominators (both well out of the twenties)

    since I can manage to play Controllers, Defenders, Scrappers, Tankers, Corruptors, MM... I am vainglorious enough to think its the AT, not the player

    --especially since I can make one better as a Controller or Blaster, and fufill the role of Control and Assault
  21. I agree about Ice Slick, but that is unique to Ice and I have never been in that situation...

    I think its the exception rather than the rule

    Flashfire cycles rather slowly for the same usage (tanking) and I never see the player base too happy with Mass Confusion (seeds) nor Mass Hypnosis (I have a 41 Mind/Kinetics so I have no problem with it).

    Dimenson Shift as an opener anyone??

    Dominatorr don't enable tanking the way Corruptors can (or multiple brutes or a even a good A/S)

    I have never seen a dominator performing good tank support and I admit even my Mind/Fire doesn't really do it--people love to break my mass sleep so I save it for additional mobs, not sleeping the next pack and the next

    I don't think Dominators were built that way..If I put my controller targeting a tank and start supporting him it works... If I do the same with my Dominator I get to control something just as the brute kills it, or I get slaughtered for using Melee too close to the Brute

    I would not ever tell another player "You suck, we don't want you." I'm just not like that. However, if they're slowing us down, I'll notice it. I won't tell THEM that, since it's not their fault for rolling a Dominator, but I'll bring what I've seen to the boards and talk about it there where it's a balance discussion and not a personal attack.

    I wouldn't be rude enough to tell another player they rolled a gimp and they are just filling out the team to make it 8, but every time I'm rolling thru the early mish in CoV thats what I'm thinking about Dominators

    Are they killing they're 3 mobs quickly (no)
    Are they assisting the Brute tank (not really)
    Are they taking/mitigating the Alpha (no)

    Would I dump them in and instant for a Brute or Corruptor (yes)
    Would I dump them in an instant for a Contoller or a Blaster (yes)

    and the same is true for AV/Monster mish in the late game

    I read a bunch of the posts in this thread, not all of them though (yet). A lot of users hit the nail on the head when stating that you can't think of Dominator as "CoV's Controller". We went through a lot of effort to make sure that the ATs played and felt different between the two games. Dominators give up a bit of control for some good direct damage attacks that Controllers would give their left mouse button for.

    Mind/Kinetics? Illusion/Rad? Hell, My Fire/Kinetics and Fire/Storm controllers solos like a dream, while Mind/Fire dominators is slow and steady..but...

  25. In my opinion, everything on the villain side was pre-nerfed during release to prevent hue and outcry such as when the repeatedly nerf'd BURN tankers and Regen Scrapper

    In my opinion Corruptors are 75% because combining a Defender primary allow you to beat blaster damage, much more safely

    Fire Primary Attacks+AM+EF=75%x1.46=1.095
    (and this is before Scourge)

    In my opinion they pushed that logic to dominators thinking domination would make up for the lack of control, and lack of damage... so they end up remaking the controller prior to containment.... someone tedious to solo early on, primary target for PL since they're pre-SO performance is borderline leeching
