  1. Wilkommen, Herr Freitag.

Make sure you create yourself an in-game avatar, because I will not rest until I've filmed it. Mods routinely show up in my vids, so you're the newest model on the block.

  2. Woo for 7 years of COH. I've been here since July 2007 and have absolutely loved it. Sorry to say I don't have a 7th Anniversary vid (I had absolutely no idea what to do for this year!), but I'm hoping that War Witch, Black Pebble, Zwill, and the gang, have something uber spiffy for us.

And I want my Vanguard pack - Agent Sorina Tavarisch has been waiting for this for AGES!

Just wanted to take a second to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. Yes, even you, G.G. Do you realized how many twists and turns this took, about writing, character development, game design, movies, comics, then back to the game again? All because we were talking about the non-existent relationship between two COMPUTER GAME characters?

I totally love all of you fracking weirdo pervs. I only wish I could contribute to the forums more but, frankly, they've put a web filter up at work to block sites that are even remotely "fun" or "interesting". Hell I'm lucky if I can go to Club Penguin at the office anymore (note: I have never actually played Club Penguin. Thank you.)

But yeah, spending 20 minutes going through a roller coaster of shouting, debating, discussing, and virtual high-fiving are why I still play this game and want to continue supporting the CoX community at large.

Oh and G.G.? I've got to meet you...virtually of course. I'll even bring my wife along in case you get nervous (note: I do SO have a wife and she does SO play...and has the 50s to prove it!).

See y'all in Paragon City (and sometimes the Rogue Isles)...
You know, I re-read this like five times and I still can't tell if he's being sarcastic or not.

As to why *I* contributed to this thread - one, I am one of the folks who gives a damn about storyline and canon and all that... and two, coz I wanted to see if anyone else thought this was completely out of left field because I was afraid it would wreck my books.

While the sentiment is definitely understood, with the current system we're not able to provide an option to skip the cut scene.

If there's a change in this, we'll update you all.
Yes, you can comment - who did the BAF cutscene vs who did the MKSF cutscene? WORLDS of difference b/w the two!

It does! Now if I can just get a map like that for Founders Falls, I'd have Tava's apartment... or at least her office.

(And now I need to run the Mortimer Kal again so I can film the cutscene.)

My understanding was that they would like to expand the slots later on, later as in issues down the line, and NOT anytime soon.

I'm asking so we don't spread such a rumor around.
It was mentioned during the Ustream with Zwillinger, Black Scorpion, and Protean - people had asked about whether stuff like non-Praetorian pets would be added, and additional powers types would be included later on, and they said yes, definitely. A timeline wasn't given but it was a known-and-planned-on improvement.

  7. Having also now run both the Sutter and the Kal, they're both great. (I prefer the Kal.) You feel pretty damn heroic during the Sutter, and DEFINITELY villainous during the Kal - doublecrosses, looting, and much smack talk that you back up with some serious beatings. Paragon getting TRASHED definitely ramps up the feeling of "we are at WAR here!", and it's nice to see earlier established plot threads start coming back into play.

  9. Well, I ran the Mortimer Kal SF last night with the Nova Dominion - now THAT was a Strike Force I enjoyed immensely. (And damn it, I want the map of Odysseus' office!)

But I REALLY liked the cutscene - it was quite cool seeing the villains of the SF squaring off against Posi, especially that fade to white and BAM there he is wreathed in flame.

So, hey, Paragon Studios? Whoever did the MKSF cutscene? Have him/her do more like that! Not that snoozefest that's the BAF cutscene.

  10. THE LAST UNICORN was absolutely brilliant - and like most good kids' movies, had a ton of jokes that only the adults would get. (Most of Schmendrick's lines, for that matter!)

"Oh God, I'm engaged to a Douglas Fir!"
"I am Schmendrick the Magician! The last of the red hot swamis!"
"Walk through time... what am I, a magician?"

And despite the man's immense body of work, Christopher Lee will always be King Haggard to me.

I love this book, I love this movie, I love this score...

No rush, I'm still working on the BAF cutscene. Got it storyboarded out and quite a bit of it shot, but now I'm debating if I should use the old MM hospital map, or one of the new Praetorian maps.

    Decisions, decisions...

  13. Some of mine...
    • The Shadow (Alec Baldwin, Tim Curry, Ian McKellen, John Lone... great film)
    • Flash Gordon
    • WarGames
    • A Chorus Line (yes, the movie of the musical)

There are others, I'm too tired to think of them.

  18. In no particular order...

Propel. I have taken out Nosferatu with a coffin, Jurassik with a biohazard barrel, Countess Crey with a photocopier...

Wormhole. Bampf them in at ground level... bampf them out 400 ft off the ground. Has led to our SG's favorite pasttime... Council Skeet Shooting.

Energy Torrent. Bowling for villains. STRIKE! This is especially fun when you have a bunch of Rikti monkeys go splatting into one of the outdoor forcefield walls to become Rorschach art.

The Gravity single target hold. Few things are more insulting to an AV than getting caught with that... and then having the rest of the heroes on the team whip out the St. Louis Slugger temp power and go to town pinata-style.

  19. ... I have now finished my first BAF.

    And my first BAF cutscene.

    O. M. G.

There really is nowhere to go but up.

EDIT: AAARRGGGGHHHH!!! Yes, the demorecord got the cutscene, but with the same stupid 'the background is there but the actors are missing' glitch that I've run into way too many times before. DAMN IT! *grumbles* Fine. I still have the models in the demofile, and improving on this shouldn't take much work anyway.

I have so many logs of trials I can build an Incarnate cabin.
    Wow... just... wow.

Do you have the dialogue for the Lambda as well? How about the Sutter and the Kal?

And I snorted water on the Incarnate log cabin comment.

    They should have 'outtakes'. Say...

The Barracuda SF... Mueller runs in to release Reichsman... but as the containment thing opens... you hear Darth Vader's breathing, and it's done like the scene in EMPIRE STRIKES BACK where Vader throttles Ozzel for being an incompetent moron.

The Roy Cooling arc... Captain Castillo thinks everything is better with FIRE!... and then he does the Beavis and Butthead laugh before coughing and apologizing for ruining the moment.

    You get the idea.

By 'play back properly', I mean this:

When we're actually getting the cutscenes in-game at the time they run, they GENERALLY run fine. However, when you demorecord them and play them back, you'll often have models vanish, dialog disappear, special effects are gone, music/sound won't play (this is a bug I wish to God they'd fix), etc. It has to do with the action-to-player distance ratio, I gather.

    Anyway...

No way to know til I try it. Life's full of these little challenges...

    *****

BTW, /signed for the idea of making cutscenes a selectable option at the start of the TF/SF/Trial - leader can go, "hey, we want the cutscene or not for those who haven't seen it or those who want to use it for bio breaks?"

  23. Drat - was hoping the ParagonWiki had the dialogue from both cutscenes, but no such luck. Oh, well - I'll run them this weekend and get them via demorecord (hopefully they'll play back properly).
