Quote:As far as the 'disappearing/reappearing' thing, a relatively quick fix would be to make sure that the models are being DEL'd and recreated (hence the vanishing).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThBz1kfqPyw
This took about 2 weeks to do from start to finish, including writing, demo recording, voice capture, and video editing. I'm actually starting to think that my issue may have been related to server lag because Virtue's been acting up for me a bit lately.
One of the really big issues, though, is the ragdoll system; it just looks REALLY weird when the enemy in question disappears and then reappears a moment later a few feet away (and usually above) where he/she was standing before.
I actually never used any of the third-party demo editing tools, just Notepad and a whole lot of trial and error. :P Granted, it probably wouldn't take TOO long to smooth out the timing issues (assuming they're not being caused by intermittent server lag) just by adjusting when things happen, but... Blahhh! XD
Another means of eliminating the ragdoll problem altogether is to use either PvP or AE maps to film on, and use players as your targets. We don't follow the ragdoll code, so you'll only get standard player death animations when our health hits zero. Just a thought.

Hmmmmmmm... I'm afraid it's going to have to be the latter to REALLY get it exact. I know that when I film stuff, I spend HOURS messing with the demorecords to get them right (and even then stuff still gets by me coz my eyes start to cross).
Have you looked into Zloth's Demo Editor and Balshor's Demo Editor? Those might help streamline the process for you.

Be glad we have the demo system at all. David Lewis, the official Paragon Studios videographer, originally was told that they were doing away with it when I-17 and Ultra Mode were to be released. He raised holy hell and told them to keep it in. They apparently did.
Re: the timing problems, I'd have to see your demo files to figure out what's causing the issues.

CoH, TV Tropes, and Order of the Stick. It just doesn't get any better than that.

I'm glad you liked my little arc! I will be revamping it once the new issue hits, since now we'll be able to lead escorts to stuff instead of just to the door, but the basic premise will be the same.
Re: my arc, yes, Dr. Aeon's "super power" is his brain power. He doesn't QUITE have his gloves in M3 (I had to rebuild him without them), though he does still have ONE energy punch and ONE energy blast. (Hence him shouting "No fair! If I only had high-powered tech energy throwing gloves to beat you! Or power armor! Yeah!")
Did you actually commit the various acts of wanton destruction? If not, you should.
And I have to say, writing von Grun (and the mindless Dr. Aeon) were just an absolute riot. When I nearly made my husband spew seltzer water all over his desk, I knew I had it right.

They're not grinders!
They're subs! Hoagies! Sandwiches! Errr... wait, wrong kind of grinder.
Back on topic, yes, I sometimes sell stuff at less than it cost to make coz I need the space or am working a badge or whatnot. On the flipside, I tend to make a killer profit when, through no actions of my own, the price of some inane piece of salvage I happen to be selling SKYROCKETS and I make a ton on that without deliberately listing it for something ridiculously high. In the end, it all balances out.
Like Forbin says, it's a pretendy fun-time game. (Dude, I have to stick that in a video somewhere.)

Quote:Question - what's your budget? If you're looking for free, it's pretty much Windows Movie Maker, which is okay as a starter tool that lets you mess with stuff as you get the hang of the process. Once you've gotten good at that, then you'll want to invest in software. Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, and Final Cut are all excellent programs, but they will cost you. I personally use Sony Vegas Movie Studio, which is Vegas's little brother, as it's much cheaper and works just fine for me.I wanted to try my creative hand at making entertaining videos, so this morning I downloaded and tried out WeGame. What it records isn't true high definition or anything, but it's good enough for me. Anyway, I've got a few questions for the people that do this all the time.
1. First hurdle is video editing software. Since WeGame records its videos in .avi format, I'll need something that can edit .avi files. I'd like to be able to layer in my own sound and visual effects on top of the video. What's a good program for this?
Quote:2. Music and legal stuffs. If I'm making a video to post on the boards, am I allowed to set a soundtrack to it? Do I just put the song/band in the credits? Does it depend on the song or how much of the song I use?
Thanks!
Alternately, sites like Jamendo.com, which specialize in license-free music (aka Creative Commons), are a godsend because barring individual musicians' preferences, it's fair game to use the music how you want (as long as you're not making money on it).
Good luck!

I saw it too, Jack - one more example of someone who doesn't understand the NDA concept. *sighs*
Not sure if making it private helps matters anyway - the REALLY smart thing to do would be to take it down ASAP before whoever it is finds themselves ousted from closed beta or worse.

Quote:Yes, originally at HeroCon 2009, it was said that Ultra Mode was part of GOING ROGUE. Then later on, once they got it up and running, it was then announced as part of I-17.You're spinning the facts a bit, my dear.
Before Issue 17 was announced, Ultra mode was promised as a major feature of the retail expansion pack, Going Rogue. When Issue 17 was announced, that was no longer the case. So off the retail pack came Ultra Mode and in its place comes the first level of the Incarnate system (with the other 9 levels to come at a late date).
Keep in mind this announcement comes in Spring 2010 when GR was provisionally scheduled for release (and is now pushed back to July). So this "swap out" of upcoming features is seemingly a last minute decision (and this is after 2+ years of development mind you) - but for what reason?
I'm not complaining - I get UM, I get it for free (well, apart from what I pay for the game, of course), and I get it earlier. And as long as GR still has lots of spiffy new uber stuff, I'm happy.

aka
Samuraiko/Dark_Respite -
Quote:Yes, Ultra Mode is part of Issue 17 (per the splash page on the main site for Issue 17), which everyone has access to whether they buy GR or not. Whether your computer can RUN it is another story, but it will be available to all subscribers. As for Ultramode, I think that was going to be available to everyone, whether they purchased GR or not. So getting it out before GR is not a big deal.
