It's a spoof of all the people that come out of the woodwork to proclaim that they know perfectly how something could've been avoided whenever something happens.

You should try making refridgerator pickles sometime. Vastly easier to prepare than the canned variety. Only downside is that you need to devote fridge space to 'em for the length that you have them. I've got a second fridge in the basement w/2 gallon ice cream pails full of 'em. Just tried a couple and my word...they would be good as a side dish all on their own.
Something else to try...pickled garlic. Do your traditional cucumber pickle brine/canning method, but leave out the dill. Remove the outer husk of the garlic and slice off the root end of the clove. I'm not sure how long you need to let them sit, but when they are done, it's basically like eating the garlic left over from the cucumber pickles.
I've seen watermelon pickles before, but never tried 'em. -
Are you making refrigerator pickles or canned/normal pickles? And if you are doing the canned variety...do yours ever come out not as crisp as the store bought variety? Ours always come out not-mushy, but not that nice, crisp crunch either.

Quote:Except I'm young enough where I'm starin' 70 years of boredom in the face...Heh, true, though back when i worked grocery, i knew a lot of older guys who retired and were so full of energy that they couldn't sit still. setting your own time is nice, , but i notice most retired people i knew couldn't not work. in fact i pass an ex mail-man every day to the car, he is always up pornographically early.
plus, those who know me know that the second overtime is whispered about, ill be doing 6 day weeks again

Quote:Well...I kinda always figured I would have a hand in causing the end of the world...just never thought it would be by having voted for a comic...Actually the launch date of issue #2 is the end of the world. Something has to be the cause of the end of the world and a cool graphic novel is about as good an excuse as any other.

Throw on another +1 for Empowered (again).
Just finished vol. 6 and I wish vol. 7 was out already. I really really dig that series.

I can't be the only one that thinks those are great, can I? Except instead of sammiches, I put a little slice of the 'schweig on a cracker, with a little bit of onion, and a tad of dijon mustard.
Also, Troy...will issue #2 be out before the end of the world in 2012? -

I hate this time of year.
Srsly.
Every store feels the need to fragrance their buildings with that godawful holiday spice or whatever the hell it is scent. You know the one. Spicy, "warm", kinda like mulling spices on overdrive. It makes me feel uncomfortably warm, makes my forehead sweat and gives me a headache.
OTOH, one can start staying inside without feeling guilty. Garden is done, no more lawn mowing for the season, and generally time to unwind. -
Six eps this season, though I've heard they already greenlit a second season.

Hugh Laurie, to me, will always be this character:
Quote:As I've just recently been in the hospital, I'm familiar with the current IV machines like the one shown -- they run on electricity, but they have a battery backup that will last a day or so, according to the nurse who had to adjust mine. In Walking Dead the electricity in the hospital was not completely out (which I attributed to visual aesthetics) so that may be an out for some people to hang their hats on. I wasn't paying attention to the bag, but it was probably 1,000 ml. IV machines can regulate how quickly the fluid drips. A person can survive on as little as 500 ml per day (as has been done by people at sea) but he was in a coma in an undemanding environment, so he could probably do with a lot less.
It could be that the hospital had it's own power generator that was able to run for an extended amount of time due to lessened drain. -

Also, come on Rick. Dead Army (or National Guard) guy hanging from a flippin' tank. With a .50 cal MG nest abandoned right next to it? Not really indicitive of a happenin' hotspot for anything other than the walking stenches.
Edit - While I must give props to Dwayne and his pop for boarding up the windows, the fact that they were still staying on the ground/first floor of a two story house was pretty bad. I guess it comes from the Zombie Survival Guide that you don't stay down there. Hack up the stairs, put a retractable ladder there, and have a rope ladder out one of the windows for a quick getaway. The fact that they were smart enough to remember to douse the lights before looking out the window is also a bonus (something that the idiots in 30 Days of Night were apparently not intelligent enough to remember). -
Quote:There's newb and then there's just plain stupid. To be fair, he's still a n00b when it comes to thinking about the zombie threat.
lrn2plan!
It's the difference between asking if KO Blow is a Hold or if Blazing Bolt is a Hold.
Guess which end Rick falls on? -
Rick has got to have done the biggest DERP! in history. My word man. You see burned out cars all leaving the city with none on the incoming side and you decide that you are going to continue on in! That right there is a Darwin Award winner, without a doubt.
-
I already hate Laurie. Though I never much cared for her in the comic either.
She could've at LEAST left Rick a note in their house. Sure, there's a good chance he'd never see it or come out of the hospital as anything but a deader, but still. -

Quote:Np.Wow, thanks! I had no idea that free month was happening! I'm excited; I just set my DVR to record it!
Standard disclaimer of check to make sure it's on for you. I didn't know about a free month either, but I saw an ad on Comedy Central for TWD and they had something up about a free month w/ TWD trailer. TBH, I was only half-listening and I remembered that you mentioned you didn't have it. -

Quote:Who knew?Little Red Riding Hood is hands down my favorite story ever. The juxtaposition of something so innocent and kind encountering such malicious evil has so many different themes and interpretations, it continues to be relevant no matter who tells it and how.

Starts tomorrow (Sunday, the 31st) on AMC @ 9pm Central with a repeat immediately following. If you have Dish Network, it's channel 130.
I am giddy, GIDDY! I say, for this show. From everything I've seen, they have not skimped on the gore. Starting on Halloween is pretty appropriate as well, I'd say. -

Quote:Rush isn't good, he isn't evil, he's just amoral (IMO). He'll do whatever it takes to survive or get the job done. More than willing to sacrifice others to further his goal.I disagree on the SGU front. (Admittedly I never watched Caprica so I have no idea about that.)
Everett and Rush aren't "Bad guys." They are just very flawed guys. The both have good intentions, both are trying to make the best of bad situations, their both just in over their heads and have a number of vices making them do less than perfect things all the time.
Honestly I think SGU is doing a good job. It' is character driven, the characters just aren't as 2-Dimensional as the characters in SG-1. They aren't all completely good and heroic. But I like that.
Can't comment about Caprica though, never saw it...
Young is...odd. I don't think he's shown the necessary skills or leadership to have risen to the rank of Colonel. He definitely isn't afraid to ruffle feathers and that would go against the political nature of getting to that position. He's willing to protect his people, but despite his feather-ruffling nature, too soft-footed around people who think they are more important than they actually are (Wray).
One thing I will say...TJ definitely managed to project a motherness air about herself, IMO. Just the way she carried herself in the episode after she lost the baby. She really did make it seem like she had a child. Kinda odd to put into words though. -
