First I would like to say, this thread is a perfect example of why devs try not to give actual numbers regarding nerfs. How dare you people do your own math and find flaws/lies/misrepresentations.....
Ok now to the real point. Even if, best case scenario, the numbers statesman has given are correct, 3% is a RIDICULOUSLY low number. Pre-I5, I wouldn't slot a power that gave me LESS than 5% def BASE, most of the time not even bothering unless it were at least 10%. Now we're getting numbers for a power whose base is not even ONE percent? I don't care how many people cry whiner, but I think I'm justified when I say
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
and while you don't have to agree with me, if you can't at least see where I'm coming from with this opinion, you need to surgically remove your lips from the hind quarters of the developers of this game
That is all. -
WOOHOO, Just dinged 49 last night on my fire/nrg melee tank. Think I can make it to 50 and retire her before I5? The race is on!
BTW, we know you don't care about your current customer base. Over a year ago, when I first started playing, this game had like 200K+ subscribers if I remember correctly. Something I read the other day on the forums said you now have 140K? Is this even after opening the euro servers? Anywhoo, I'm sure you're banking on COV coming out and getting a whole load of new people to buy both COH and COV who have no idea of what this game was like before you *cough* revamped it. So good luck with the new subscribers, I have a feeling you're going to need it. It's just really sad to see this MMO go down to the egoism of the developers who feel their vision is more important than the enjoyment of their players. Especially when that vision hasn't been consistent and seems more of a knee jerk reaction to the fact that people might be *gasp* "beating" your game.
I just heard DAOC opened TOA free servers, 2 years after they released that debacle. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to get an I5 Free server when we come back to this ghost town in a few years.
Cheers!

Oh-- Davistian reminds me of something, and though I have to run, I want to say this (not that I'm afraid of having people hate me... but...):
I think it really is reprehensible that they'd push I3 without making the free respec available.
That was a fairly stupid thing to do, and very unfair. I happen to be in a good place with my build, but I'm very sympathetic to people with builds that don't work as well in I3 who don't have respec.
That sucks. Sorry.

Just my 2 cents since this thread is teeters on hijacking every few posts or so.
I actually think having issue 3 come out before the respec was a good idea. Yeah, it was hard. I have earned all three debt badges when I didn't have ANY of them before, but I also know now what sort of powers I need to keep and get rid of to be more viable in issue 3, and if I'd had that respec the first day, I know I wouldn't have spent as much time sussing out the intricacies of the new issue. -

Yesterday I did 7 missions. Every mission had a boss at the end. Only one was announced in the text before the mission. According to Statesman, 'If you see a boss, you should get help.' I was thinking about this...

OH and in response to this (quoting here since I didn't see the Statesman quote) I was invited to "help" with my controller on one of these missions. I was one shotted 5 times by 3 purple and 1 red con freak tank bosses. (Somehow I drew aggro from the tank and the scrapper every time I put a hold on these guys) And because I was only there for the last part of the mission... you know, the part with all the bosses? I didn't even get mission xp for my debt. How nice is that? And how often do you think I'm going to be retarded enough to join an already started mission again? So if you ask for help, make sure everyone exits the mission to give the appearance that you haven't already done enough so that anyone you're asking for help isn't going to get screwd on the mission xp.
Ok Ok i'm bitter I know
And as an aside, this was a level 32 mission, my controller is level 32. The owner of the mission had pumped up the mission to rugged from hard-boiled so we were going up against lvl 34 bosses and the mission owner and I were the highest lvls in the team of FOUR people. I shudder to think what that mission would have looked like had the slider been up any farther. -

Boss level too low. (No seriously, I think it's perfect. And the rewards are much greater as well for XP)

Ok, so I killed a blue con boss yesterday on my ice/ice blaster. I got 30 pts more xp than I got killing an oj con lieutenant. That's THIRTY. And it took me 3 to 4 times longer to kill the blue boss, with at LEAST twice as much damage. That isn't enough compensation in my opinion. Not enough at all. I'll take the oj lieu any day. -
I'm a super hero with 3 heroes, all lvl 32 when issue 3 came out. I have an emp/def (shelved until respec), a mind/kin controller, and an ice/ice blaster. I have had super groups, but b/c of time of gaming, different levels, etc., I often have to solo. I was looking forward to the difficulty "slider" so that when I had a grp, I could take on harder challenges, and when I was solo, I could opt to not be quite so challenged. With the new boss difficulty, I can't even touch the boss hps to finish a mission with my controller. Which means I cannot finish missions solo. I've had several missions where I have done everything, except kill my yellow con boss, simply b/c I (and my confused minion) can't even dent his hps. I'm trying not to whine, but finishing missions and filling up contacts is sometimes hard to do EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE A TEAM. A lot of times if you're not the highest lvl in the grp, you never get your missions done. SO even if I spend the majority of my actual xp gaining time teamed, if I want to fill in story arcs and get to know my contacts, which I like to do, I still have to solo. And the boss hps increase has essentially precluded this.
