  1. Having a problem with the Secondary Mutant power. It keeps activating itself every few seconds. This in tern is causing an activation delay in the regular powers when you activate those powers. They won't activate when pressed because the SMP is activating for the millionth time. It also is causing the character to slide toward a target because it is trying to root at the same time.

So no, I'm not going to explain how to build a Shield Defense or Super Reflexes "on it's own merit". How you build it is you take pool powers and you spend some of that hard earned influence on occasion, like on the Steadfast Protection unique. That's also how you build ANY character. I can't even imagine that there are people playing this game without taking pool powers. But I suppose they must be out there, struggling, dying, burning out of endurance constantly, and wondering why their primary and secondary suck.
I have my 66 month veteran award. I know about pool powers. I generally end up with 7 or 8 pool powers already. 3 or 4 fitness, 2 travel (although these days I can skip the first in those and go directly to the travel power itself. And 2 from leadership because I can't get tactics without maneuvers or assault. I usually end up with assault unless I already have some defense in another power because maneuvers by itself is a waste of endurance. My present reliance on pool powers means I have to skip some good epic powers as well as 2 or mre useful primary/secondary powers. Even so I still have to skip powers in the secondary and primary sets. I am also aware that no character really hits it's power until mid 30's. It takes that long to get enough enhancement slots to make most powers effective. My main complaint is that defensive powers at their base level are useless. Resistance powers at their base do mitigate. Defense does not. And enhancements are not an option, they are requirement for defense. Since I have never min/max my abilities I do not have tough or weave on any character. I only have combat jumping when I'm taking super jump. I can see how stacking more defensive powers can help. But then what additional powers do you drop to make room for those extra endurance draining powers. My EM brute runs 6 toggles already and now I'm expected to add 2 more because the base level of defense is useless? And no, I'm not trolling. I'm just frustrated and, yet, I keep playing. I guess I'm more of a masochist than I ever wanted to believe I was.
  3. My question is why would anyone play shield? My perception of defense based powers is that they are defenseless. I created a scrapper Broadsword/shield on test. The base level of defense in the firat 2 tier powers is no better than having the toggles drop on zoning and not even noticing it through the first couple fiights. Then I notice that brawl is not smacking with the shield. I constantly take damage from even level mobs. So much so I'm wearing out rest. Can't keep enough green inspirations on hand. When I fight +1 mobs I risk being defeated as finally happened at level 9. From what I'm reading here everyone's build for shields requires multiple power pool powers to make it work. Why isn't it capable of working on it's own merit. I also decided to try a axe/shield brute. The only advantage that has kept him from a defeat is his fury. It sure isn't the shield power.
So can someone explain how to build a shield/ super reflex/ninja reflex/or any other defense based power on it's own merit? Or is it as I long suspected a lot of God Mode utilities?
  4. On the graphics page of the options setting below the ultra mode settings there is a set of sliders for changing the colors of your windows borders. Below that is a fourth setting for setting the Opacity of the windows. For several years now when I change the opacity to 67% it reverts to a new very low % (Usually 0-10%) when I log back in. I've kept waiting for a fix for this but I guess no one else has noticed it. And yes I have saved my settings to default multiple times to no effect. Could we get this setting to set once and stay?

  5. If it helps I don't mind getting zero xp in MA. I do MA for tickets. Increase the amount of tickets in each mission. Tickets to buy training and DO enhancements while saving inf for I/Os. I need tickets for common/arcane salvage which are always in short supply or over priced. I need tickets for uncommon and rare salvage that are in short supply or overpriced on the markets. TICKETS not XP are more important. More tickets please.
  6. Statedman says "Yes". I say it will be launched on time. Will it be playable at launch? NO! Based on unavailability, lag, and Map server disconnects on CoH servers caused by CoV beta being switched to live servers, it will unequivacally not be ready. Released? Yes. This evenning alone I can not log into CoV or CoH. That's the reason I have time to look through the forums. If I should be able to get on later, I know I will not be able to play without significant lag or multiple map server disconnects.
