  1. My wife and I haven't played in several years. We both downloaded CoH today and for me, it worked fine. All my old characters are still there, just needing to be unlocked. My wife's, though... no characters. None. They're all gone.

    What happened?!? Is there any way to get them back??? Our old SG was planning a reunion next month!
  2. Our lord Tyrant, ruler of Praetorian Earth has decreed that the invasion of Phalaxian Earth begins NOW! As his most trusted enforcers, he has tasked us with the mission of securing a foothold there.

    We have deemed the best place to be the fractured Rogue Islands. Any and all may join us in our crusdade to bring about the fall of the Phalaxian Earth's government and usher in a new era when Tyrant will rule all worlds!

    ((Our group is based around RPing villans from Praetorian Earth and conquered worlds (like Warrior Earth that Battle Maiden rules or Shadow Earth). As long as you pay service to Tyrant, you're welcome. While villanous versions of heroes are obviously going to be a large part of the group, at the same time you DON'T have to play the evil version of your hero. Many members are "originals" with no good version of Phalaxian Earth (at least none we know of yet....

    We do not have a sepearte website for this group yet, but feel free to drop by our hero website at www.theaurorae.com to get a feel for our players.

    To join us, join the global channel Nightfall and ask for an invite. Invitations will be pretty loose here in the Beta, though we'll be instituting an interview process once the game gos live.

    See you in CoV!))
  3. I got really annoyed earlier and said the devs "must hate ice" which I'm sure they don't, but I just don't understand.

    Why can't they just take an ice tank in the 30s or 40s, and play it, an Invuln tank, a Granite tank, and a Fire tank for an hour each? I know they haven't done it or they wouldn't think that ice was just as good as the others....

    Its so bizzare. They should know that Ice is gimped on Test. They're devs for [Insert Diety Here]'s sake. But it's like arguing that the sky is blue with someone who thinks its green. At some point you just have to accept that no matter how logical you are you can't convince them. No matter how many independant observers agree with you and no matter how precisely you examine the light waves' frequency to prove that it's blue....

    in the end, they still think it's green.

    It's simply a fundamental disconnect on the state of reality.
  4. If not, however, it's arguably a nerf. Making it a clicky you can't come out of on will would be "teh suck," as it were. My gf uses it quite often for less than 45 seconds.
  5. I think the devs just hate ice tankers. Why else would they give all other tanks and some scrappers (well, the one with a tank secondary) better defense?
  6. While that's OK... Hibernate still isn't a great power by any stretch (now, if it dropped a big taunt when you turned it on, maybe) and Permafrost is still kinda sucky unless its a HUGE slow resist that can overcome forrests of Caltrops.

    The core problem still remains: that the other sets are WAAAAAY better than Ice. Invuln and Stone and even Fire all have better defenses. The math bears out what conventional in-game wisdom states.

    Statesman, why don't you do this: Make an I5 granite tanker and an ice tanker of, say, 35th level. Put them against some +1 Council spawns for, say, six people. Time how long each of them can tank before they die.

    Then tell me Ice doesn't suck.
  7. Aurorae is a RP-heavy supergroup on Virtue currently comprised of ~40 unique players. You can find our website at www.theaurorae.com.

    Our supergroup has no strict theme, but beleive that by bringing those of diverse backgrounds together, we form a stronger whole (think Avengers if you want a comic book version).

    What we DON'T do (well, what most of us don't do) is sit around Perez Park chatting. We are very mission-heavy. We do our RPing while we fight badguys! If all that sounds good to you, get in touch with us.

    Originally a primarily European group, Aurorae is now probably about 70/30 American/Euro and makes for a great place for any European players to join. But of course we have players all over, including Japan, Korea, and even exotic Canada!

    The best way to learn about us is to read out About Page and check out our fourms.

    If you're interested in joining, you can post on our site, or better yet just get in touch with us in-game. We prefer to RP getting new members instead of submitting an application (that's so unheroic!)

    Captain global tags:
    @Attractor
    @Dayraven
    @CoreTemperature
    @Iceborne

    /gfriend any one of us, and we'll work out an RP meeting!

    ((Ignore this. I'm putting it here for anyone that does a "find" once this thread becomes big. role-player roleplayer RP RPers)
  8. I stand corrected. But let's be honest, that's not a really big pool of badguys.
  9. Also, rememember that there's stuff in the game that auto-hits (or close enogh) like the DE swarms, the giant eyes in the Shadow Shard, the Envoy of Shadows' (who you have to fight, like, five times through the arc) death aura, ect.

    There is nothing in the game that ignores resistences.

    Additonally, some stuff, like say a Rikti drone has big +ACC modifiers that essentially smack ice. There is nothing in the game that ignores a certain percentage of resists (except blasters in PvP now), which would amount to the same thing for a invuln tanker.

    Lastly, Ice relies on having tons of mobs to get def from constantly. That means in one on one AV fights, they eat the ground a lot, with no way to get their defense even *close* to the cap agianst a mob that has a huge acc boost (and you can't even cap yoru def against even con white *minions* with only one opponent facing you down).

    Circ, I dont' completely agree with your reasoning.

    The thing is, when you uplevel just slightly (1-2 levels), CE becomes less effective but it does become significantly harder for invul to floor accuracy. Of course they hit harder, but this isn't balanced perfectly, either.

    Of course, my math might be off, since it is just approximations, but since no tanker worth thier salt sticks to tanking whites, it's probably a better idea to compare how Ice/Stone/invul work with +2/+3s.

    Not saying that Ice doesn't need a buff- boy could it use one in response to the new mod to EA- but I think stepping up to 178% hp boost is just too high, it fails to take into account increased healing and the like. Perhaps hoarfrost being moved up to a 60% buff with a +regeneration tag attached to it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ice has no increased healing compared to Invuln. that's the point.

    You think it sounds like an extreme buff? Yeah... but that's where invuln is now.

    So now you know how much better other tankers have it.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
    The power is still quite massive, and probably still too powerful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Obviously, Geko is working on a career in stand-up comedy.

    Either that, or the devs are clueless about how bad ice armor is compared to the other tanker sets. And we all know that can't be true, can it?
  12. I want more SG symbol options... not more symbols, but more places to put them. Options for smaller chest symbols for men, breast pocket-type symbols for both sexes, belt-buckle placed symbols, shoulder placed symbols, and cape-placed symbols. The X-Men all haver very different costumes, but all have that red X somewhere. It'd be nice if CoH Supergroups could do this.
