    XP and I5

    [ QUOTE ]
    Couple of changes we're making in I5:

    2) XP debt will be halved on mission maps (that includes outdoor mission maps, too).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Then in that case we need....

    a) the ability to delete missions.

    b) much clearer indications that a mission contains either an AV or a Monster, is timed, or needs more then 1 person... BEFORE (note that word) we accept the mission.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
    We were promised PVP would not affect PVE, back when PVP was announced.

    We were promised this.

    It was a promise that I knew would be broken, but I still don't understand why.

    There are those of us, there are in fact a large number of us, who don't care about PVP and don't plan to set foot in the arena once it goes live. It is IMMENSELY frustrating to have so many powers so radically altered in such a short time when nothing of the sort would have happened had the Arena not been created. I liked my PVE the way it was. Unless you're a Defender, most of the changes are not going to make PVE better, they are in fact going to make it less fun.

    Change and balance all you want for PVP, I don't care. Just keep the changes out of my PVE game, as was promised. I'm really becoming sick of it, and so it seems are many other players. A word of warning; the limit of tolerance is close to being reached by the community on the boards. The general explosion over the latest patch notes holds this feeling. Too much more and you're going to lose players in large numbers. I know that's been threatened before, but I'm not threatening, I'm just taking the temperature of the community and making an observation.

    At any rate, and speaking only for myself, my account is not set to renew when it expires next month and after this latest round of nerf-herding I certainly don't plan to change that situation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah I agree.

    I do not have the slightest intention to pvp, I can't pvp to save my life (pun intended), as my Mouse and Keyb skills are not Ubah due to ill health and age, as a result I am 100% PvE.... and a 99.9% soloer.

    And before someone ask's 'why on earth do you play MMOGs then?' it's due to their open ended nature, offline games have a very limited life.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    I think this is need of an update with the I4 changes.

    Siphon Speed and Superior Invis? Big changes to those powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I've not been able to play or read the forums much lately, what changes are they making to Siphon Speed and Superior Invis?
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    Actually I do have a comment after reading this.

    I had a level 23 ILL/Kin controller ...

    Why does everyone HAVE TO HAVE HASTEN???

    My god, it seems people are too lazy to try and do things much harder.

    How about writing a guide for those who want a challenge?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Maybe because its too useful to pass up?

    Just for starters with ill/kin it allows you to have PA up more often.

    Its like asking 'Why does everyone have to have legs?'

    Yes, you can get by without them, but why make life harder for yourself and give your build a disability just to be different.

    The answer isnt really that hard.

  5. OK, I finally (after much messing about by NCSoft/Cryptix and me getting feisty with them) got a decent answer to my petition about the Spectral Terror issue.

    Note that my petition was done while on the Test server, and I am not sure if the response applies to the Test or Live version of ST, but from what I have seen ST seems to do the same thing on both anyway.

    [ QUOTE ]
    This is not a bug.

    Currently Spectral Terror is working exactly as described in the in game info on this power. The pet itself casts a PBAoE fear which causes villains in its range to cower in fear. It also casts a Terrify cone power and any villains in the range of that cone power will run away.

    This is currently working as intended.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Leaving the out the name of the GM/Dev that replied to me.

    From the other threads I have seen about this, it would appear that ST is back to its pre-I3 suckiness, and thus usless.

  6. A lot of nice ideas here, not read them all, but here's my 2inf.

    - Active Link in the SG Window to the SG's website, which when pressed minimises CoH and starts up the users web browser, taking them straight to the guild website.

    SG/Guild communication is pretty poor in CoH compared to other games. ie in EQ almost every guild has a website, that comprises 75% of guild life (imho), CoH seems to be missing that extra element, and thus SG's are not the 'Super' things that they should be.

    - Abilty for leaders to be able to Export the roster in a choice of file formats, so that it can then be pasted into guild website easier.

    - More than 75 members, a LOT more, so that people can join their alts up too. I am great believer in 'One person, one Guild', as I feel it promotes guild loyalty

    - Ability to mark characters as 'mains' or 'alts', and add name of whom alt is a main of.

    - Ability to change SG colours. A lot of people join SG's based on the colours... a shallow choice I know, but people do this. Choose the wrong colours at creation and your SG is doomed.

    - Give us back the ability to sort members by 'online' and 'last online' dates, this was broken in I3 or a patch shortly after.

    I did petitioned about it, but only got the usual standard reply and then the old 'we have not heard from you for 72 hours' rubbish! (I get this a lot btw, and it isnt good customer care.)

    - Kicking a Leader.

    A tricky subject this one. Imagine Cryptic/NCSoft give Leaders the ability to kick other Leaders, and you create an SG and make someone a joint leader with you. There is then nothing stopping this other leader hijkacking your SG and kicking you out.

    Therefore I suggest the following. Do not give SG Leaders/Captains the ability to kick/demote other Leaders, instead add another petition criterea for SG Leadership Issues. Leaders/Captains can then petition for an absent Leader to be demoted or kicked, and NCSoft/Cryptic then check their records to see if in fact this Leader really is inactive, and then kicks/demotes them if they are satisfied that they are.

  7. [ QUOTE ]
    I know this isn't a SG suggestion but tossing it in.

    Something that a friend that plays WoW told me can do is "email" stuff to his other toons. Like he can transfer money and weapons/armor from one of his toons to another. I like to see this option in CoH. I hate to bother a friend or wait for one to get online to move Inf to a toon of mine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Off topic too, but nice idea, would be great to be able to mail Inf and Enhancements to alts and friends.

    I tried to re-create the last soloing build in a Hero Planner, and found some errors in them...

    <ul type="square"> [*]Level 09 – Only 1 Ench slot is shown placed.[*]Level 13 – 3 Enchs slots shown placed[*]Level 29 – Only 1 Ench slot is shown placed[*]Level 34 – Only 2 Ench slots shown placed[*]Level 37 – No Ench slots shown placed[*]Level 40 – Only 2 Ench slots shown placed[*]Level 42 – 6 Ench slots shown placed[*]Level 43 – 4 Ench slots shown placed[*]Level 46 – Only 2 Ench slots are shown placed[*]Level 48 – No Ench slots shown placed (But note that there are 3 (47)’s placed, but 47 is a ‘new Power level’, not Ench slot level)[*]Level 50 – Only 2 Ench slots are shown placed[/list]
    Therefore would I be right in thinking that this was what you really intended:-

    Level 1 --&gt; Spectral Wounds { Acc(1), Dmg(3), Dmg(3), Dmg(7), Dmg(40), Dmg(43) }
    Level 1 --&gt; Transfusion { Acc(1), Heal(9), Heal(11), Heal(11), Heal(13), Heal(46) }

    Level 30 --&gt; Speed Boost { EndRdx(30) }
    Level 32 --&gt; Phantasm { Acc(32), RchRdx(33), RchRdx(33), Dmg(33), Dmg(34), Dmg(34) }
    Level 35 --&gt; Transference { Acc(35), RchRdx(36), RchRdx(36), EndRec(36) }
    Level 38 --&gt; Fulcrum Shift { Acc(38), Acc(39), RchRdx(39), RchRdx(39), RchRdx(40), RchRdx(40) }
    Level 41 --&gt; Indomitable Will { RchRdx(41), RchRdx(42), RchRdx(42), RchRdx(42), RchRdx(43), RchRdx(43) }
    Level 44 --&gt; Mind Over Body { DmgRes(44), DmgRes(45), DmgRes(45), DmgRes(45), DmgRes(46), DmgRes(46) }
    Level 47 --&gt; Psionic Tornado { Acc(47), Dmg(48), Dmg(48), Dmg(48) }
    Level 49 --&gt; Aid Other { IntRdx(49), Heal(50), Heal(50), Heal(50) }

    Note 1 - The DMG(40), DMG(43) in SW and Heal(46) in Transfusion where guesses by me, and the only obvious places to me for those slots to go.

    Note 2 - I used to 'CoH Hero Builder' by Sherk Silver do this template.

  9. Great Guide, printed it out too.

    As an FYI I just hit 26 and popped onto Test to try out Spectral Terror, and the bug hasn't been fixed. I have petitioned about it, will keep you informed of developments.

    I am a bit of a loss what to do now, whether to take it till respec, or just skip it for something else

    -
  10. Great Guide, thanks for putting this together.

    On Friday I'd worked out what was going to be my respec, when the free respec finally goes out, it was the 7th version I done hehe, but I'd left DA out.

    Over the weekend I've come to realise that leaving DA out probably isn't a good idea, and reading this Guide has compunded those feelings, so after I go grab myself a cup of tea and wake up a bit more (I just got up), I shall be working on version 8 of my respec, that will include DA!

    I am half a level from 35, so that will make life a bit easier, as it gives me more levels to play around with in the respec plan.
  11. I’ve been using 'Gnarly's Speed on Demand Binds' for a week or more and I REALLY like them, but why-oh-why do I keep dropping out of air for no reason at all?

    I'm not talking about the known 'feature' whereby if you try to use a power or inspire at the same time as you move while flying, I am talking about times when I am just moving about, usually manoeuvring to get a good angle on mobs, and BAM! I fall out of the air and straight into their laps!!

    It’s happened to me six+ times so far this afternoon and it’s starting to get REALLY annoying!
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    Hitting enter should give you "space", the default. So not sure why/how you'd get that. Try running the bind program again, perhaps?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ......... ......... DOH

    I will re-do my bindings, this time not just pressing the space bar, lol.

    Great work btw, I love them even without UP working as it should due to my error.

    EDIT

    Just did the changes, all the 'error' msgs have gone and now SPACE with Fly makes me move at a decent rate again.

    Once again, Great Keybinds, fantastic work!

  13. [ QUOTE ]
    As for what looks like Help messages from the game telling us how to actually use bind, not sure why that's coming up, but I'll look into it next week.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well I thought they were Error msgs rather than Help msgs, but now I've sat and played a bit more it seems more likely that the commands are being echoed along with a Help msg.

    No matter what 'Channels' I set to 'None' the Help section of the msgs I get will not go away.

    However, the second part of the msgs I get (that start - bind "+zoomin$$..... etc) can be made to go away by setting 'System' to 'None'.

    I'd rather have a better solution to this though.
  14. I am using Gnarly's, they appear to work fine, but every time I press a re-bound key in 'Speed on Demand Mode' the system reports keybind errors... but the key still works as it should.

    In fact on loading the bind files I get the following error...

    bind takes 2 arsgs, you gave 1
    binds a ky to a command - 'bind k ++forward' will set k to toggle runningforward.
    bind &lt;string&gt; &lt;string&gt;
    bind "+up"

    Pressing Ctrl R (to go into ‘Speed on Demand Movement’) works, I get the /tell and the mode works, but I get the following error…

    bind "+zoomin$$-zoomin$$up l$$down o$$forward o$$backward o$$left o$$right o$$bind_load_file c:\cohbinds\R\R_txt”

    That is the correct path and the file exists and has data in it.

    Then, any rebound key in ‘Speed on Demand Movement’ mode works as they should, but all throw up similar error msgs to the one above (with different file names, of course).

    I tried re-loading in my saved keybinds file, or resetting keybinds in Options, and a combination of both, and then re-loading Snarly’s, but I still get the same errors.

    Even tried different toons, same issues.
  15. Very interesting read.

    I have a Electric/Electric that I enjoy playing very much (she is 18 now), I'm in no rush to get to 40, because I cant see what all the rush is about getting there anyway... I mean, what is there to do at 40?..... make another alt and start again, hehe, doesnt appeal to me, but I wont knock others for wanting to do it

    I do already have various alts, including an Energy/Energy Blast and I am taken aback at how much faster I can level her, who knows maybe she'll overtake my Electric/Electric.

    As RSR stated, his post was aimed at people who wanted to get to 40 fast. I have gained some good info from it just the same (re defense) and I shall certainly take it into account. I already have Hover/Fly on my Elect/Elect and I love Fly just for the entertainmen value alone, but I may well try Superspeed on my Energy/Energy.
