So make it the 2nd saturday of each month for the time being and that solves the problem for both July and August.

As I stated a long time ago in another thread, it is the advertising and frequency of attempting to run these things.

When Hami raids changed I only ran 1 blue side raid a month. (I say "I" because initially I was the only person running public raids). Once we got a few trained teamleaders and a good amount of people who knew how to do them the time it took to do them lessened. The time it took to prepare lessened as well. Other leaders such as Amy and Tom started stepping up and running them as well.

Back then raids were being planned 2 weeks in advance to get the proper amount of the AT's needed scheduled. I spent hours and hours personally sending p.m.s and tells to ask people to come.

NO matter how excited some people may be to get these to be weekly, the fact still remains that most people want the time invested to be equal to the reward received. Thus the reason why only 15-20 people show up weekly.

If you schedule them 2 weeks in advance, only once a month for a couple of months and give it time to develop as far as team leads learning the ropes and the amount of time invested being shaved down some you will see that once you get the time down to about an hour and a half.....getting 50 people in zone every week will be a cakewalk.

I don't think anyone is not in aggreement. I think Elkie is just being Elkie, and the rest are just feeling their feathers being ruffled by some of the offhanded "patting of thy own back" type comments from the OP.

Actually it has always rang true that SG/VG lead events, no matter how pure the intentions are, normally will be looked at as a recruiting ploy rather than a community event. Especially when dealing with CC's. Precisely why I don't typically run events under the LES banner, instead I run them under the PERC/PVPEC banner. Brings way less drama to where my SG members call home.

Lol, not hard to do being LES doesn't try to get prestige. Nor do we kick people out for being inactive for a few days or weeks. Nor do we farm, pl, or even have lvl 50's playing for anything but cash for themselves. Nor do my guys have to be embarrassed to be in an SG that has the reputation of annoying half the server with random blind invites all the time.

So you keep on climbing up that ladder while my guys just play and enjoy the game.

You are right Elkie, it is wrong for them to throw community events for the purpose of recruiting new members. Instead they should just send blind [censored] invites to everyone who logs in to the game without a VG.

Other Sg's solicitate members all the time from every SG out there. There are lots of SG leaders that do not even bother to look to see if someone is in an SG before sending that annoying bind asking everyone logged in and showing on the search window if they want to join their SG.

The beautiful thing about this country is the fact that we have free enterprise. Businesses (SG's) have the right to solicit for customers, even those customers that are currently doing business with another SG. Consumers (sG members) have the right to try out the services of as many different businesses (Sg's) that they want to. If you are making your customers (SG members) as happy as they can be, feeling welcome and entertained....they won't stray away to other Sg's to do business with. You can't exactly blame the other SG for the fact that your members think the grass is greener on the other side.

There are so many times I have seen LES members suddenly gone and suddenly in different SG's. I don't blame the other SG for stealing my members, I blame myself for not making my members feel 110% happy within LES.

Dinah has a valid point. I know many occassions in this game someone has been doing something totally screwed up in their playing style and I have seen team leaders try to offer them pointers and be shot down rudely for their effort.

Example.

A few weeks ago I was on a PUG Numina. The tank did not have any vet badges. The tank also did not have stamina. Toggles kept dropping and he kept begging everyone for blues. Team leader nicely said "YOu might want to consider getting stamina so you have enough endurance to keep your toggles running". Tank says "You should have put the team together right and had a kin on the team to Sb me, don't talk to me like I am a noob." Then he quit the team and left.

That is only one example, but the mentality I have seen many times over.

In all fairness though many times I have seen new players totally welcoming advice. I guess the main thing is are the Pl'd toons rushing through the games going to be the ones open to advice or the ones shunning it away?

Are you kidding me? Cobbie was entirely too polite in his response. Personally I think you are crazy if you think you are the only person who contributes to this server on a large scale. I am not even referring to myself I am talking about so many other leaders such as Amy, Steele Brigade, Iltat, Bronx, Tfury, Dazz, Nibbles and many more who run regular events, give away millions and billions of prizes and influence on a regular basis and do so without even trying to recruit for their SG at the same time, just do it to give back to the community.

Personally I am a little leery on the whole "teaching of the noob" concept simply because there are very few players, even long time vets who actually understand the mechanics of this game. However it does sound like the intentions are good and honorable. For you to slam those intentions of an entire group over a few bad experiences with a few people within that group is petty, immature, and not showing very good community leadership skills IMHO.




To the OP:

While I personally can barely find the time to mentor the noobs within LES which should be every SG leaders priority to do, I don't have time to mentor other noobs in other SG's. However if you need any help with anything I could do on the sidelines to help you have my support as would any community effort to help others.

Yanno that is ironic. Same thing happened once when A.S.S.>> had a match against I don't remember who. Hot filled in because we were short an emp and he went afk for over half the match and left me to solo emp in the lab. The entire match all we heard was Brynn screaming at the top of her lungs for Hot to answer her on vent.

The time of the match being the same night may have quite possibly been arranged that way intentionally between Ajax and Johnny, I dunno. However...

lol @ OS being so important that we would actually throw a match so PX could be in 2nd place for your match.

It amazes me how everyone always said PE sucked so bad but then turn around and question whether PX actually beat us fairly.

Thank you for sharing this. I had been wondering the last few days how it went for you guys. Good to see you guys pulled it through. Interesting to find out you could go get shivans while still in a TF, I thought that would be considered a contact that you wouldn't be able to talk to while in a tf.
