    lol x2

This is all fun and stuff, but can we PLEASE get back to Sophia being a def mute and looking for other poor story development/lazy writing techniques?

Agreed, T-Dog said like 3 words last episode. One criticism I have is that some characters get so much to work with while others are barely touched (daryll VS T-Dog for example). I figured he would have been killed off along time ago along the lines of the old school, unwritten movie rules of black guys in movies dying first.

And, if there was a commitment to simply using her death as a symbol and a device to drive the characterization of others, the plotline would have been over sooner, affording more time for the fallout.

Also, if you'll notice, I've not been jumping on people for disagreeing with them about their opinion of the show. I asked a question then remarked on how they missed out on character moment opportunities.
I hope I didnt imply that you were jumping on anyone in disagreement with their opinion.

You call it lazy storytelling and missed opportunities, others say otherwise pointing towards strong storytelling vs nitpicking. It is what it is.

What do you enjoy about the show? Thats what Id rather focus on.

It seems like common sense to me that the kid comes from an abusive environment explaining why she isnt an extrovert or even talkative at all. Im not defending the show, its producers or the storytelling, all I can say is that I enjoy The Walking Dead. I have been critical of this and other shows but if my criticisms start to outweigh my enjoyment...Ill just stop watching.

I know you feel strongly about your opinion of this and other elements...thats whats so great about opinions, everyone has them. I dont see the point though in debating opinions...all people can do is express their own and if that doesnt convince someone otherwise, there doesnt seem like much of a point in going back and forth for two+ pages about why Sophia doesnt talk. Im not saying you shouldnt go on about this or anything else you dont like, but I just didnt think the thread was going to focus on stuff like this as much.

    The Walking Dead

CF has stated more than once that he doesnt enjoy the direction the show has taken. I think this is another reason to help confirm for him how poorly the show is being done. For me, the point of Sophia not speaking is as much of a non issue as the 3 pages of discussion about how to properly gut an animal or some of the other ideas that have floated around the thread about things that werent done very realistically.

You dont have to be a fan of the show to be involved in the conversations here, but I dont see why you (Lothic) would go back and forth with him. CF already has it set in his head how he feels about this deal and no in depth explainations or commom sense approach from anyone that enjoys the show is likely to change his opinion.

    The Walking Dead

I think the people on Talking Dead awhile back explained all of the non animated corpses (on the highway for instance) as having been possibly gassed or experienced head trauma etc before dying.

I forget what the comic's take on the deal is. Im thinking though, If you die and turn into a zombie or die and just die...Im not sure if it matters whether a person is immune or infected, dead is dead. It would be a 'dun dun DUUUUN' issue if the infection slowly zombified you while your alive moreso I think.

Just grabbing some numbers from Red Tomax real quick, Fossilize does 160 base damage in PvP (smashing) and Blaze does 120+the ticks (fire), so most of the spike will be smashing damage.
    I appreciate the info.
I thought the OP was talking about zone since he mentioned SC and my mind always works along the lines of casual zone play. Somehow got caught up in a bunch of earth/fire dom spike team arena craziness.

I said the same thing earlier in post #462, but didnt get any feedback. Glad to see Im not the only one tying this over religious dude into the Job concept/story.

Yeah, I dont know how the other primaries would mesh with devices. That toon was one of my 1st toons years ago and I havent played another blaster since then.
  15. Gotcha guys and thanks, didnt realize /FAs were so bad compared to the other secondaries performance wise on Scrappers.

I'm a huge fan of the comic. My wife, on the other hand, is not. In her defense, she's not overly a big fan of zombies.

Our two reactions almost mirrored that.

I smirked as Sophia walked through the barn door, knowing Rick was finally going to "nut-up" and stop being cowardly. Finally becoming Deputy Rick Grimes I love vs. Sheriff Rick Grimes I hate (Probably the reason Shane is actually my favorite character on the show I suppose)

She was practically in tears because the little girl they were looking for was dead and her "family" put her down.

So, with the show on planned hiatus, anyone want to keep the discussion going with the comics over the next few weeks?

I think TB 15 comes out in about a month. And I91 came out last week maybe? Or the week before.

And it looks like McFarlane is finally get that series 2 line of figures out (Ones based on the TV show)
I agree with your post but not seeing the cowardly part of Rick at all...please expound

Absolutely and I agree, constructive criticism is where its at. If you and one other person are talking about how badly the show is being butchered with the majority in the thread saying they feel the opposite...may just have to look at what it is that you expect from this production is all.

I encourage you to continue to watch and post, variety is the spice of life and what gets these lively discussions flowing. It just seems to me that you dont really like the show based on your comments.

Its pretty obvious some in the thread dont enjoy the show. If you continue to base the show on the comic as points of contention, Id say that you will not ever enjoy the show. Why torture yourself by continuing to make comparisons and keep coming to the thread with opposing views based on all of the dissatisfaction? If it was me, Id call it a wrap and go back to reading the comics again.

Im pissed that Tyrese and his crew may be replaced by T-Dog (he showed up once this episode? boooooring, go ahead and kill him already), but Im able to look past it all and enjoy the concept that this show is only loosely based on the comic.

End of the world or not, a real racist is a guy like Merle...unrepetant for the most part even in the face of it all. Im not so convinced Daryll was that bad of a guy, at least not from the viewpoint of going from a "racist redneck who probably beat women in the past" to a loveable teddybear that has turned into the character that everyone loves to death...over the course of a few weeks.

Bit of a stretch to assume anything else until there are some flashbacks showing all of the racist/woman beating moments.

Mostly fire though right? And I like DP, but I also like /fire's fat, 10 sec recharging heal too. I dont play melee toons but seems like /FA would deal with a /fire dom or fire/ blaster better than /Elec or /Invuln scrapper.

I think we're just suppose to believe that Hershel's full commitment to his delusional idea that "zombies are people too" is suppose to adequately explain every motivation he has as a character and it's just hard, as the audience, to buy that point of view. *shrugs*

The "magic" of Hollywood makes many shorter guys look taller on screen.
Tom Cruise is the classic example of that.
    1) I think its a case of digging under the surface a little to figure out why good ol god fearing Herschel wants the group to leave the farm; everyone may have their own take on it. Before the group came, Herschels world/faith had been rocked severely, but had started to settle down to a "normalcy". They were farming and doing all the things farm people do being in a secluded location. Basically what I said in an earlier post, realists VS theorists...Herschel is very much the theory/creative driven personality type.
    The group brought with them:

    - a realistic focus point of what was happening outside the farm
    - a challenge to the common thought that if they just minded their own business, they could live day to day and get by
    - a challenge to the farm's concept that zombies were sick people that needed to be cared for until a cure was magically found
    - reasons for his "lil girl" to grow up and be interested in some of the studs that arrived
    - a drain on resources?
    - basically the group would "infect" the farmers with their crazy, real ways

    2) yeah, I forgot ...Tom Cruise is a little cutie pie shorty short

    The Walking Dead

As always, caught the episode this morning...thoughts:

    1) Nothing Herschel could do about making anyone leave his farm, especially not the TV version. What is he, like 20-30 years older than his comic conterpart? Not sure why they made him more the gandad type VS the dad type for the show. At the end of the day, hes just relying on Rick's decency to abide by his will or underestimating Rick's tenacity to keep the group safe.

    2) Really not the group's business to mess with crazy Herschel's decision to keep zombies. If you dont like the rules, leave...

    3) I know what they said, but this isnt the only farm in the area. Once tensions start running high between the leaders, they could have realistically just struck out on their own to an adjacent area. If youve read the comics (or if not, its not hard to see), theyve cleared out areas more than once for settlement purposes.

    4) Im a fan of contradictory aspects of the human personality, but Herschel's character is more of a stretch than any of the other "unbelievable" stuff in my opinion. Hes a religious nut that sits around regularly reading his bible during a zombie apocalypse and has the whole Gods grace thing going when it comes to zombies, but is going to kick people off his farm during their time of need. Out of all the crazy stuff weve seen on the show and discussed as being bs, this is probably the biggest stretch for me.

    5) Norman Reedus was a pretty smooth sounding, laid back dude on this ep of the Talking Dead. I met him, "Shane", "Glenn" (and Andrea I think) at some kind of Monster Con type deal this year...he and Shane were the wildest, "I NEED MORE BEETCHES NOW!" and talking about coke and drinks in the room dudes I ever met lol. Shane was a little guy too now that I see him in such a hard charging stud on the show, maybe 5'7.

    Cmon February!
