Quote:Who could you not know Elric of Melniboné and Stombringer?I'm amazed that people are saying they only know swords from video games and Bleach. Doesn't anyone read history or sci-fi? Don't the names Durendal, Joyeuse, Tizona, Gram, Stormbringer, Graywand, Scalpel, Sting, Narsil, or Anduril mean anything to you?
Sigh. Much that once was is lost, for none remain who remember.

Quote:There goes my coffee over the desk. Thanks for making me laugh. Graviton Girl is also gravity-defying girl...Obviously her assets shifted while fighting bad guys and she hasn't untwisted her tunic yet... obviously.
Man, now that you mention it I can't help but see it. Even the infinity symbol is shifted. *shakes fist at ChristopherRobin*
I still like the picture overall. I like how she's faded in the background like she's the main thing on his mind.
Thanks VexXxa. -
Quote:Thanks for the feedback Christopher. I don't draw myself so can't comment on the technical aspects of what should look correct or not. I'll pass the comments on to Ian, but I'm quite happy with how the Triptych turned out.Colors came back really nice Comrade.
Graviton Girl's outfit still bugs me though. In the third panel see how the farside ...shall we say mountain peak...
is clearly in the blue while the other is completely within the red? In fact the red covers
most of the near breast going about 2/3's of the way toward her armpit.
Viewed from the other side it would be 2/3's in the blue.
Now look at GG's outfit in the 2nd panel (which is centered correctly).
It's like in panel three her outfit is facing
more toward us than her torso is.

Quote:Thanks VexXxa, it never ceases to amaze me how much time artists spend on works, the penultimate perfectionists. I think I'm back with editing and rewriting, but I can only imagine how it must be to analyze and evaluate every thing from a visual point of view.CH! Your new additions are totally "fantastik"! BW worked on yours for a long time and was definitely worth the wait!! BW seems to have limitless artistic talents!!!

Quote:Agreed, the Soviet Flag does look striking. I wasn't expecting it actually. Sean just decided to make different variations and I ended up with more than one.I think the Soviet flag looks more striking, purely from an aesthetics point of view.
Damn but you get the best artists, CH D= /envy
True, hard to ignore that steely eyed crimson gaze of Comrade Hero...
Urah! -
Quote:Thanks for the vote of confidence. Currently in the process of getting more visual references/design concepts for my project and working on new set of sample pages tailored for both storyboarding and sequential pages.Yup I just went through all 21 pages of this topic. Love this character and fantastic art!
I wish you the best of luck in taking this character to the next level my friend... -

Comrade Hero and Friends completed.
Pencils by Ryan Stegman. Inks by Tom Parrish. Colors by Sean Ellery.
Comrade Hero tribute piece modeled after Jim Cheung's cover for Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D Annual #1
Of course instead of just coloring this once, Sean went above and beyond and made different variations (that's what you get when a teacher goes on long service leave).

Big thanks to Layla. Comrade Hero Jnr. arrived safe and sound in New Zealand. And he's staying in the plastic...

Quote:Heh, I only received these a couple of hours ago, but yeah I had the same reaction.Um, all I can say is "WHOAH!"
You mean these pictures didn't instantly sell the project?
Be Well!

And an update...
And here's what Comrade Hero looked like before he was a hero. Second Design Sheet by Yamandú Daniel Orce and Model Sheet by the talented Erwin Ropa. That's the first Character Set complete.
Stylized Russian Test Pilot uniform. Chest emblem is that of the Sukhoi Design Bureau.

Artist Jeff Chapman created a set of 'Live Action' Comrade Hero pieces for use as promotional images and visual references. Here's the Default, Russian Federation, and Soviet Union styles Comrade Hero.

Quote:I gotta agree with you on Codpiece. Definitely one of the Doom Patrol's most cringe worthy villains, although in a twisted, inspired way.Cod-piece.....look it up as words can not sum up how much fail he is.

Quote:Agreed. Captain "Billy Batson" Marvel's outfit is fantastically iconic.Captain Marvel (DC's version).
The cape, the top, the sash, the lightning bolt....they're all so incredibly distinctive and sums up the character's powers and at the same time has a faint sense of whimsy and fun in it, like the costume is a swashbuckler's costume mixed with a musketeer and a superhero.
S.
And the the other end of the spectrum. Although the standard issue uniform of Mega City One's street Judges is pretty iconic, it's that combination of Judge's Helmet, hard chin, and even harder pressed lips that makes Judge Joseph Dredd immediately stand out. (Although there's far more than the Judge's uniform that makes Dredd such an iconic character in the verse of 2000AD.

Quote:I've really been fortunate in that respect.Nice new additions, CH! And those model sheets are some of the best that I have seen here!
I noticed Yamandú Daniel Orce work before on deviantART, and Caemgen put out the good word about Erwin Ropa.
There's a two month and a half month window between contestable arts funding applications her in New Zealand so I'm updating and reediting project material and documents, and getting more visual reference images and concept work done.
I'm currently talking with Dimitris Moore and Rodney White about less comic book styled and more animated style character sheets, and Michael Penick and Jeff Chapman about action and photo-realistic pieces
respectively.
