Commissioned art by term, means art that is requested for and paid for.

...And some of us are complete noobs when it comes to the finer points of evaluating the artistic merit of the very talented people here.
Me for example.
Part of my RLJ involves proofreading, editing, and rewrite advice for government policy plans, projects and reports in the field of Justice.
But I have no idea as to the criteria on how to evaluate and assess comic art - merits and faults. I just look at some of the stuff posted here and think wow.
Perhaps someone could post "A Beginners Guide to..." or point me (and others) in the right direction.

This one seems like it covers all the bases for art in general:

Also, I'd highly recommend the book Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud.

Heh. Yeah I've liked Deviant Art for a number of years. A lot of inspirational talent there. I like Cassandra Lovell who goes by the name of heartofglitter at Deviant Art, and also the work of the Brazillian artists at Comicomission Studios and ComiConArt.
The exchange rate at the moment isn't exactly favourable towards New Zealand to US Dollar conversions, but Ibraim and Felipe Watanabe (from Comicomission) are currently working on a copy of pieces for me.
It would be a very happy day if I could ever afford to get Tim Bradstreet to do something for me.
Forgot to mention ImageNETion if you just want a huge collection of artwork to look at in your spare time. -
I like scanning through the pages of the Comic Art Community. A lot of talent passing through there.
link is here. -
Heh, patience is a virtue...
*checks PM feverishly*
They're looking good. I love cruising the Fan Art forums and looking at all the different talent that this community has.
Keep up the good work.

If you're still in the generous state of mind to draw sketches, I'd love one of my blaster Albtraum.

Graviton Girl
Lvl 50 Gravity Control/Force Field Controller
Concealment/Fitness/Flight/Superspeed/Psi Mastery
Around 6ft 3in, late 20s.
Front Back Side
The original Graviton Girl was among the first generation of costumed superheroes to become active during the mid 1930s, and to later serve with distinction alongside US Armed Forces personnel in special superhero units created during World War II.
Little is known about Graviton Girl after World War II. It is assumed that like many returning heroes she opted to retire her superhero persona and resumed a normal life and civilian career thanks to government sponsored assistance.
It is uncertain if the current superhero operating in Paragon City called Graviton Girl is the original (and apparently ageless), is a descendent of the original, or just another costumed hero who has assumed the costume and mantle of the original. More insidious are the persistent rumors that the current Graviton Girl is in fact from the notorious Praetorian-verse dimension, or is a cloned replica of the original, part of Crey Industries illegal Revenant Hero Project.
The question of identity has yet to be answered, and the current Graviton Girl offers only enigmatic responses when the topic is broached. -
No matter what the level of the heroes in your group never assume that a Tanker can safely start a mob encounter by leaping in and hitting provoke, or that a Blaster can finish it with a well placed Nova or Inferno.
It's humbling when the level 50 Tankers in your group get b-slapped by a mob of Rularuu and your Energy or Fire Blasters get snotted by the same foes when they try to sneak in with Stealth/Cloaking Device + Super Speed to set off a Nova/Inferno.
