Comrade Hero getting a knee in the chest from Graviton Girl. Now that's something you don't see every day
Spasiba, can't wait to see how this develops and thank you so much for your consideration, time and effort. Greatly appreciated. -

Comrade Hero and Graviton Girl are on the list. Lucky number 17.
Got a tap on the shoulder about this thread today from a friendly CoXer.
I've been rather sick the last few months so haven't had a chance to check out this fourm. I'd commissioned Gill for a duo piece - East meets West many moons ago...

Please send me references, and if you and an artist agree on something--let me know so I can update the list.
Thanks,

Comrade_Hero, I would love to take a stab at Graviton Girl and/or Comrade Hero if you allow me. Did you have a particular scene in mind? Impressive art collection, btw.

Sure thing. Graviton Girl and Comrade Hero were my first heroes. I like the idea of them being teamed up like "World's Finest" by DC. One of the images that springs to mind is Last Son of Krypton -

Grats on your first piece of commissioned FanArt!
And kudos for getting such a beautiful piece done by a great artist -
Soul Train: "Don't make me hurt you, sucka!"
Sorry, I can just see Soul Train as a Cleopatra Jones type character -
Happy Joyous Remiscing Day of Earth Entry Human!
Happy B'Day Ya Big Lug! -
Excellent costume and use of color. The commission is really, really nice.

A hug for Gamma for the good news...
And a hug for Nivienne for the not so good news...

Very nicely done Juggertha. You continue to go from strength to strength

Very nice! Waiting for a couple of Peng Peng's myself
Excellent job on this one -
Here's an old Comrade Hero picture that finally got colored thanks to Deberzer from deviantArt. Original Pencils by Mike Campeau and inking graciously provided by Sean Huck

I think it's safe to say we'll all just have to agree to disagree on the whole issue of freedom of speech verses censorship - or to nipple or not to nipple?
Our little Scarfie has made the best workaround so far in terms of highlighting the art without providing a direct link. It's not perfect, but I can manage that.
And why hasn't Dominatrix and her bondage fetish gimps been hit by the Decency and Morality Brigade yet? -
Nod.
In my personal opinion, the Comic Book Super Hero genre lends itself really well to Fan Art, even moreso than your traditional Fantasy themed Role Playing Games.
One of the things that initially sold me on City of Heroes all those years ago wasn't just the promise of playing the hero or heroine, but the great costume/character generator that the game had built into it.
I already had the genesis of most of my heroes and heroines created previously many years ago when I was a teenager and into the original Classic Marvel RPG by TSR. City of Heroes gave me a chance to put those original creations into action!
Commissioning Fan Art is an extension of that creative inspiration that City of Heroes gave me when I finished spending hours (sadly I did) in the costume creator trying to work out that distinctive outfit and then cut and paste that labor of love called a Character Background that I spent even more hours on!
I can't see NC stomping down on Fan Art or Fan Fiction for the simple reason that both creative outlets are generally positive and promotes City of Heroes/City of Villains for free. And good publicity can't be beat.
I've been asked periodically over the past couple of years when I'd get around to paying someone to do a Comrade Hero comic, but I'm more content at this point in time to get the odd commission and work him ever so slowly into the Creative Writing Diploma I'm doing this year.
And yes, oddly enough for a mutant Communist with glowing red eyes, who was bombarded with cosmic energies, survived a free fall through Earth's atmosphere from the edge of space, crash landed in the Arctic and walked away without a scratch, Comrade Hero does have nipples.
And no, they're not star shaped or crimson red despite the persistent rumors circulated by Morally Subversive Capitalist Money Grubbing Tabloid Journalist Deviants! -
Exactly, although if you had a chance to jump on Age of Conan to check out the RP-PVP server, it was kinda sad to see most of characters encountered tended to be loin cloth wearing barbarians, or topless women wearing very little else. And yes, they had nipples. Then again that is an 18+ game for adults.... err... yeah.

naughty...knotty... art?
Okay I can definitely see a Plant Dominator doing that.
Definitely... -

The easiest trick of course is not to provide a direct link to anything dicey and merely point out that aside from the two pictures your linking from DA you have an additional third image that is new on your site .
It's neatly simple and follows all the guidelines in a round about fashion that keeps the mods jobs easy and infuriates trolls

Perfect!
Thank you from a mod.

Actually, that is a simple and effective idea.
And yes, I did ask for the thread to be locked. As a point of discussion it was applicable to the thread in question, but not the right venue.
Art will always be subjective and will always be open to interpretation.
I had to laugh though at the mention of clothing (or lack of) by Turbo_Ski. That brought a smile to my face.
Just under 270 years ago and my ancestors were running around with very little clothing in good old Aotearoa, New Zealand!

I won't further add to the debate, as you may note that my link to Albtraum 2 was edited out via Moderator Intervention and I can't comment on the specifics of that.
I appreciate the support of those who have commented, and do understand the objections that others have raised.
I'd love a constructive debate on the Screenshots and Fan Art Forum about this issue - however this thread shouldn't be used to do that at this point in time.
Therefore, I have asked this thread to be locked.
Thank you all.

4. You may not post or link to any sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive imagery or content.
[/ QUOTE ]
I fail to see anything sexually explicit, harmful, threatening or ethnically offensive (unless you happen to have a thing against pointy eared elf-type creatures!).
I've never been pulled up or shoulder tapped by a moderator before for any breach of decency regarding posting of inappropriate imagery and I always warn about pieces of art that may cause offense (violence or nudity).
I appreciate the pencilwork the Russell Platt did, and the amazing work with color that Dietrich-March did (Russ has just commented on this). All I want to do is share what I consider to be a fine piece of art.
So thanks to those who do enjoy Albtraum 2, and for those who don't, thanks for stopping by anyway! -
Thanks for the feedback. I am curious as to what would be considered prohibitive in respect of Albtraum 2. So I decided to check the City of Heroes Message Board Rules and Guidelines posted by Aura (link here).

6. Hosting your own images.
You will find that we do not host screenshots, signature pictures, or other images on this message board. You are more than welcome to link to images hosted in other places (like on your own personal website), as long as they are of an appropriate and non-offensive nature. Avatar icons are allowed as long as the images are below 20kb in weight. Links to images that are inappropriate will be removed immediately and you will be contacted for breaking the forum rules. Images that are obscene, vulgar, references to bodily functions or body parts are also forbidden. Words that would be censored by our bad word filter are not allowed in images either. Finally, copyrighted images are also forbidden.

In North America, City of Heroes is rated Teen by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.
City of Heroes rating by the ESRB states that is has " Suggestive Themes, Violence."
I really like the work that Dietrich-March did in coloring the piece done by Russell Platt and in my personal opinion consider it to be a tasteful nude without explicit sexual overtones.
However in case anyone finds an image to be "obscene, vulgar, references to bodily functions or body parts are also forbidden," I always put up the "NSFW" where such image could be considered such.
And if you do take the time to go through my gallery on deviantArt you will find the majority of commissioned pieces involve heroes and heroines fully attired.

Hi all,
Been absent for a while. Found out I had a genetic heart condition which kept me in the ICU for almost a week, but I'm slowly recovering.
Anyway, a trio of pieces I received while I was in hospital.

A lot of artists that do superhero style commissions are more comfortable doing established comic book or animated heroes - usually from the DC or Marvel stable. An established character has its own costume(s), colors, and features that can be drawn relatively easy - think Superman or the Hulk.
An original character (and fanart essentially falls under this) is more time consuming for an artist to work with as the person ordering the commission has their a character with their own unique costume, features design etc.
This can be offputting if screenshots or examples of other reference art aren't available to work from. Artists are also wary of having to constantly adjust or rework sketches to meet the approval of an original commission - which adds more time to the work they're doing.
