  1. Speaking of which, [censored] GO ONLINE! NOW!
  2. Isn't someone supposed to say "RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE" when resurrecting threads like this? It's tradition!
  3. For me, the thing about putting melee attacks into the corruptor APPs is that it's too blaster-like. I don't want my corruptor to be blaster-lite. I wish they had put in more self-buffing type stuff. Soul Drain was a great choice, for instance. Stuff like Boost Range and Power Boost and a breakfree-like power.
  4. Honestly, Castle, with Archery it seems to me that the two biggest problem with the set are too much lethal damage and a lackluster secondary effect. Buffing the acc bonus some and adding in different damage types - like some toxic damage for poison arrowheads or something - would go a long way toward rehabilitating archers.
  5. Youse gotta wait for me to put up Darkest Night. You'd only have to take 2/5 of the alpha, and then with Fearsome Stare that should go down to badly-aimed popcorn tossing.
  6. I'd heal you, but massacring everything is just more fun.

"Hmm, Bill's getting hit, maybe I should.... ZOMG FIREBALL LOLOLOLOL"
  7. I thought I remembered its being a low priority fix error. Well, I'll leave it to a red name to correct me there if he likes.

    In any case, if it were actually intentional, it certainly was anomalous - 100, 200, 100, 100, 50, 100, 100, 100... 10,000.
  8. I heal lots!

(as soon as I know you're out of range)
  9. What the hell do you need Aid Other for?

Are you dissing my Twilight Grasp?

    ARE YA, PUNK?!?
  10. Has anyone mentioned the old Zookeeper badge requirements?

Did you know... the Zookeeper badge originally had an error which required ten thousand Rikti monkeys to be killed before the badge could be achieved? Since Zookeeper is a requirement for a popular accolade, this resulted in monkey farming teams running marathon sessions against the psychic, gas-spewing Rikti underlings on an island off the main Peregrine Island which came to be known as Monkey Island.
  11. My zombie/poison mastermind is totally grabbing onto the shark puke power and running with it.

    4) The abundance of holds and immobilizes in the current selections take away from the uniqueness of the dominator, whom already struggles in PVP with things such as low hitpoints, low damage, no status protection, and a non-pvp friendly inherent. What now will dominators bring to a team when almost everyone now has an immobilize AND a hold available to them? the answer is nothing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is a pretty valid concern IMO. The construction of the 3Ps might make the endgame a little rough on Dominators, Domination or no Domination.

No, I'm not saying repeal Containment, just change containment so that it is not as big a bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Do we get some of our control back? I'd make that trade in a second.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Do you get to lose a significant portion of your buffing/debuffing ability? Then it would be a fair trade.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Er... um... no.

We took a simultaneous triple nerf to get containment as a lone buff. I don't think it's asking anything silly that if we lose some of the buff then we get back a little of the nerf.

Oh, and my force fields aren't all that threatening, thanks.

  15. My */poison mastermind will be taking the sharks without a doubt, in no small part FOR the attack vomit.
  16. If they put in the anti-purple patch and the new to-hit rules, your opinion on that bit o' def might change.

So yes, I can lie, and pretend large chunks of the game just didn't happen.

I think this already started when we were asked to believe we spray people with fire and bullets and hard radiation and then slice them up with blades to "arrest" them in CoH.

Look, I'm the first person to congratulate you on having a character that's well thought out in terms beside its build. However, at some point you have to accept that your character is written into a collaborative setting which is in turn written by somebody else and that this is going to require a certain level of adaptability, either in the overall plan for character development or in selective inclusion of in-game text into your version of how your character changes with time - how "canon" you are.

I have to do this myself already. My stalker is unable to perform as written. The basis of the character is that for every crime she commits for a person, whether or not that person asked for the crime to be committed, she commits a similar crime against them as the price. She's supposed to be a living urban legend. It's a fun idea and it makes for a great character... who I absolutely cannot play to character in game. Period. I can't play my equitable tricks on the contacts in CoV, and all the Arachnos people know I'm there for sure.

I just deal, y'know? This is a collaborative setting in which I have no creative control, so I can adapt characters to the setting or I can just ignore maladaptations and be about my business. Sometimes I do one, sometimes I do the other, but I don't see the point in lamenting the fact the game wasn't written to spec.

Why do people think throwing analogies at a discussion is a valid argument tactic?

    Because it is?

King Arthur had Excalibur on loan from the Lady of the Lake but that didn't make her the star of the show...?

    [/ QUOTE ]

How many people associate the sword with the Lady? The thematic ideal of something like this has a life of its own, separate from the facts of the matter. The thematic ideal of Excalibur (a completely unique item as far as the legend tells us) has evolved such that it is associated with Arthur.

    ** sighs **

    Fine.

Green Lanterns get their rings from the vastly more powerful Guardians on Oa.

This is common knowledge throughout the cosmos.

The rings are not unique. Every Green Lantern except one gets his ring from the exact same place.

Green Lanterns still manage to be the center of the story.

On the other side of things, Sinestro gets his yellow power ring from the powerful Weaponeers of the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward.

    This is also common knowledge.

Qward is famous and widely feared.

Sinestro still somehow manages to be more than a bootpolishing lickspittle.

In City of Villains, we're being relegated to be lackeys of the lackeys. How fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You can look at it that way. You could also look at it as one of the handful of villains who sit at the top of the Arachnos hierarchy taking a personal interest in you, as you've come to their attention to the point where they are trying to recruit you into their own camps.

Great, we're the middle managers of evil.

Not really, theres very little organisation within CoH. They help get new heroes on their feet, but after that they are left pretty much to themselves, to do as they see fit. theres certainly no indication that you work for any particular organisation (other than the Rule of Law), nor are you beholden to any organisation.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I dunno 'bout that. It seems to me the heroes have ties to the city. As examples, supergroups are regulated through City Hall, capes are an honor bestowed by the city rep and you respec with Jack Wolfe at the Freedom Corps building in Galaxy City.

EDIT: And, regardless, don't you think it's reasonable to assume they could get a decent number of heroes to organize together long enough to sponge clean the Rogue Isles if the villains were living in complete anarchy?
  23. That is the tiniest ID card ever.
  24. It could be that was just my impression. The way the city is set up with government services for all the heroes and Freedom Corps personnel guiding the new heroes and the level ranks and such forth, I'd always thought we were supposed to be FC.

In any case, even if the heroes aren't FC, the original point was that they're still organized through the city government, so a completely disorganized villain "civilization" out on the Isles would get plastered unless there was some sort of unifying element.
