When you ask for a tp, someone hands you a roll of Charmin and you look at them like they're crazy or something!
When you walk over a plaque recessed into a sidewalk and wonder why you didn't get a badge for it.

Heh now that I look at an actual screenshot of her in that suit I see I exaggerated her eyes and
made her ear the wrong shape... and too low and there are way to many leaves in my laurel wreath
and her cheekbone isn't sharp enough and her jaw is way more squared in my image... and about
a dozen other things amiss.
Suppose that's what I get for "free-handing" it without a reference in front of me lol.
Oh well I wasn't going for supreme accuracy... it's just a sketch. -
Thanks Ghost
Quote:Heya Chris, great job so far bro!! Maybe some references to the character to balance the WIP from?
Lol I've seen them so many times it's easy to forget not everyone knows
what Xllusya should look like... yet... mwhahah!
errr I mean here ya go.Xllusya
Edit: I just realized there are no good shots of her wearing her 5th (armor) suit in that slideshow.
I'll pop into ICON and snap one quick to post.
Here ya go Xllusya in armor
Edit... again: It's in the slideshow now as well.

So here is another update!
Sidenote: What the hell happened to Parker Pens in the last few years??? They used to never ever
blot or run but the last 4 I bought have all started blotting on me. <.< >.>
Did they take a dive in quality in recent years or do I just have a bad batch?
Well the first blot happened in her neck and I sort of covered it with that diagonal band (a collar
of some sort is what I'll try and make it into) but the lastest ones on her armor plates and under
her shoulder pad (the black streak through the shadow in the lower left corner) and the one that
just happened on her cheek are bumming me out.
Bah, oh well Parker ink issues aside the picture is coming along ok.

Quote:Missed a tiny bit of color on the ridges of the lizards back. Also her lips having a brownish outline whilehttp://eddy-swan.deviantart.com/art/...evil-137104926
Similar to my last adventure in color. Me. Randy Green. Dead lizard. Hot chick.
all the rest of her features having a black one makes them look a bit faded in comparison to the rest of her face.
Finally the ground nearest to the black shadows cast by the lizard should be a darker shade of brown to pull the shadows
together a bit more and add some contrast to the lighter brown in the foreground. These are just my opinions, overall it's
a fine coloring job Eddy.

AHA! Found the buried intro thread.
Sup everyone I'm ChristopherRobin aka C.Rob, CR, or BigPoppaPump globally in-game.
I'm mostly call Liberty home but I have a presence on Triumph and Victory as well, plus a few heroes scattered across Virtue & Justice.
Most well known, on Liberty, for the infamous Chloe Macomber, and also Xllusya, Strahd, Simon Tam and Shieldara.
Brahn Fuhrnos on Triumph and either Perpetual Fist or Spinal Red on Victory.
I'm a self-taught traditional artist (drawing, color pencils, ink, some painting, silverpoint and photography) but I would like to learn
more about digital art (apparently there's this program called photoshop but pssst... it's not just for photo's... you can totally draw
stuff with it... I know I was shocked too). I used to draw all the time but stopped like 7 years ago and so am really out of practice.
I just got inspired to "pick up the pen" again recently after stumbling across this section of the forums (been around CoH since Issue2
but never knew there was an art forum) and seeing some of what other people on here were doing.
I build custom computers for a living which tends to get in the way of my CoH time (it's probably all a Nemesis plot though).
When I'm not gaming or ordering parts online I lift weights, play drums and occasionally draw stuffz. -
Hey all, welcome to my art thread. Just wanted to post the progress of this sketch of one of my mains Xllusya.
More updates to come as soon as I take some pics.

Funnily enough from a skin-v and CO crossover standpoint there was a day waaay back in early CO beta
(first week of March if memory serves me) that the "tops" disappeared off of all the female champions...
and I has teh screenies to prove it... not sure if I can link them here or not lol.

Quote:My initial impression is the sidescroll isn't working as you have it there. He (the figure) doesn't appearhttp://eddy-swan.deviantart.com/art/...walk-136830136
This is a piece I am working on for an illustration assignment In very early stages I've posted it here because I am looking for outsider perspectives on how effective it is at illustrating the desired mood and if not field some Idea's as to how I can improve it.
anyone at all can comment here or on DA. don't hold back. if you think it looks like Dungpoo then let me know, If you have any idea's as to how I can improve it I'm all ears!
The piece is supposed to represent a breaking of old habits in the interest of moving on to a brighter future.
to be breaking any chains and from a purely symbolic standpoint he does not seem to be between his
"dark past" and "bright future" but rather all that seems to be happening in the background
and he is separated from it all by the "guardrail of his denial" (lol ok probably read too much into that last one
there.)? I would suggest rather than a figure in the foreground and stuff in the background to put
them together and have the figure in the middle of it all. Perhaps the background is all one continuous
city done in neutral grays and such with cooler shades to the left (maybe a broken window or other
signs of disrepair like potholes in the road)and warmer shades to the right (with newer cleaner buildings
and such) and the sunrise is happening offscreen to his right, and you see the sunbeams striking the road
in front of him or touching his lead foot (if he is mid-stride) the light coming at him from where he is going
to (the right) can actually be casting the shadows (to the left) of where he came and if you want to represent
chains (mentioned on your DA post not here)or breaking free you can have the long shadow he is casting be
trailing chains behind it off into the darkness.
Also you can have some random junk or litter in the street behind him, you can really get creative with this
aspect as anything you want to portray about his past can be made into litter of some sort that he (or even
his shadow) is walking away from or even stepping over on his way to his goal.
Just some suggestions
Christopher
P.S. One other thought he should be chin up or at least looking upward as up/down has a long
history of representing good/bad in visual works so if he is looking forward to a brighter future he
should be looking up at least somewhat... him looking at his feet and his posture as it is now suggest to me sadness or depression.

Ok I have listened to all the comments and con/crit on here (thank you all for that
) and went ahead
and made a few changes. Note these are not changes to the paper drawing as it would be more trouble
than it's worth to try and change the ink... I'm just doing these edits for myself so I
can learn and improve my skillset.
The cheek-bone and thin neck seem to be the most commented on so I went ahead and removed
the cheek line and made her hair cover more of her neck so it's clear that her neck is being obscured
and is not just scrawny lol. Granted I am no photoshop master but I gave it a try. So what do you
all think? Better? Worse? About the same?

Quote:Rabid you say? Good to know mwhahahah.Heh, true, I don't really know many people who honestly sit at a con and draw all day, most doodle on napkins in the bar or mess around with something between panels/shows/etc, but I always like to point out that con goers are rabid about art, I've had someone offer me money to draw something before while I was just wasting time in the back of a program, which, seriously, very much not real art, so most anyone with real skill is good to go
Well I get to meet all my west coast friends and there is a banquet dinner included and a bag of Free Stuff!(tm) plus I would be very surprised if we don't get some first looks at Going Rogue, but whether that's worth the price or not for others, who knows
Don't know if that is worth it or not... If I did go it would be to meet and hang out with other people into the game (seems like no one else in WI is into Coh) and art... of course free stuff is always good too but if you pay $80 to get in plus airfare, plus hotel, how free is the stuff really lol. First looks at Going Rogue... well I'm usually in on the betas early on so not such a huge thing for me... I did see some video of Samuraiko on how she makes vids up on youtube and having tinkered with cohdemo files for a while now that is something I would be interested in attending. Thanks for the info Kai
Quote:Stunning picture. I wanted to comment to 1. tell you how good it is, and 2. bring it to the next page.
Oh and if no one else has said it yet, welcome back.
Cool thanks for the +1 rep bro and the kind words. -
I'm on board for this as well especially if Ennvee is spining the tunes. I'm more for running a tf or even starting
with all new level ones (if people want a level playing field
) and running the sewers moreso than just hanging out in the D but I'm flexible.
My home is Liberty mainly but I'm also on Triumph and Victory and a few others. I'm also on test so that's cool too.
I'm self employed (building custom computers) so my schedule is flexible but am more of a night owl than an early bird.
Great idea here Pyro -
Quote:I hear ya Scooter... personally I want one of these --->I really really really want to get one of those drawing boards. LJ has one and I want one too.
My mouse is so clumsy it's hard to get the details I want.

Looking great so far BW I'll collect some references and send them along in the next day or two if you need any more.

Gratz Scooter (or scootz as you seem to have been dubbed) that is a fine piece.
P.S. Oh hey there Juggy, welcome back. -
I'm out but this is a cool idea and a really nice gesture on your part.
Keep spreadin teh artz lovin'! -
Quote:Thank you for that Kai. Well the times where I am out in public places doodling it does tend to draw people who stand overLate response, had to work the weekend at, oddly enough, a con....
HeroCon is Paragon Studio's own little con in San Jose at the end of October. Mostly just for my own curiosity, since I'm going, I wondered if you were because I thought it would be fun to watch you draw something :7 I daresay though that you could likely make a chunk of change there drawing if you wanted to as well, since people could walk away with sketches rather than be waiting for files to come through.
my shoulder lol. Not sure if my skillz are good enough to draw any character anyone presents to me or what anyone would
pay for it... like any other artist I'm really good at somethings and other things... not so much.
Plus if it were my first con I think I'd want to be going to events and trying out stuff and not necessarily drawing
the whole time, I think the people that can sit and draw through one have been to enough of them that
they wont feel they are missing out, just a guess though.
Quote:I just saw that I didn't comment on the piece for LJ *blush* You did a fantastic job, CR!!! I am impressed to say the least. And LJ, you got yourself a very fine piece of....ARTZ!! (hehe)
Gratz!!
) better
late than never... errr I mean... what took you so long! I was like waiting and stuff.
Quote:Oh, we don't get along with everyone, but that's why we just kick the interlopers out. Well, in fairness it's more like we piss them off so badly that they don't ever want to come back. We are after all, powergaming elitist know-it-all pricks. :3
But I love my group more than anything, so it works out quite well. They match me in oh so many ways.
Quote:I went to the 'first' HeroCon when it was just a meet-and-greet and while it was fun, there's NO ******* WAY I'm spending money on attending, let alone 80 dollars on it. Screw that. Just cause it's local to me doesn't make it a must go. >.<
willing to spend the money/time for it so there has to be something more to it now, right?

Great work and a totally deserving subject
If I were to suggest anything at all to improve da skeelz the hands do need a little bit of work
though and the same moonlight that is tinting her torso blue should also be on her left bicep/shoulder and
also along the outer edge of her forearm. I love the expression thought and lots of great little details that
really bring it to life.

Quote:Finding the right group of people is easier said than done. My old SG the Knights of Fate wasYou just need to find the right group of people. I've been around since issue 3 and I still have a strong SG. Best ones seem to have their own networks outside of the game itself as mine is attached to the Ars Technica forums. It keeps the SG alive during times when the game is waning.
the "right group" as far as us all getting along with minimal drama and complimentary play styles...
but your logic is sound as there wasn't much outside CoH holding it together and when the game
waned (YOU SUCK ISSUE 5!) the group did as well.
If you found such a group and everyone gets along consider yourself lucky Suichiro.

Quote:Psy has posted once since her last post to this thread... it was in regards to i16.I hope Psygon is okay it's been a while since they were seen.
anyone seen Psygon?
I'm guessing she (he?) is probably playtesting the new toys.
You can always try and message her on her website and what's up Scooter. Link should be in the sig.

Quote:Thanks FTThat is coming along fantastically, CR! The details are nicely done and I do like the colors!
The colors are actually about 2 shades darker than they appear here but yeah it's coming along pretty good so far.
