  1. Momentary Photobucket snafu but it's fixed now.
  2. I think Pyro may light someones pants on fire if he doesn't get some computer info to appease his wrath
(he's got flame throwing smiley's in his sig for jewish zombie's sake) so here are a few teaser pics
and I have some more answers/ideas to throw in shortly as well.

  3. Hmmm don't get the 3 mile joke but Coultergeist made me laugh, I wonder if she shouts rightwing epithets as her battlecry?

Though after reading Dark Forgiven's post, I am highly tempted to sketch up a page of bewbs...

Edit: make pin ups? you mean muscle poses?
Apparently only half the links I posted violate the rules.

Also I have never had to make a "two click" link to something before... it took me a while to figure out
how to one click link stuff lol. So I guess I need to link to a site that shows nothing but
that links to another site with the "good stuffz" pic?

Ok I can kinda see the reason for it but if I was a teenage boy and presented with a "two click" obstacle
(or even a two hundred click obstacle), between me and boobies, it would hardly stop me from just clicking twice.

Maybe really young kids won't know you can click twice (though with all this talk of two click they know it now )
but then they probably shouldn't be roaming a thread about boobies (or the internet for that matter) unsupervised.

Then again maybe this is not the thread for sidetracking with making sense... carry on with the Boobage!

    My new avatar

Nice. I like the eyes/expression on this one even better than the first.
  6. Wow that's really nice Bobby.
I love the warm color scheme and the expression on her.
    Great job!

    Buy This

It looks like Foo just volunteered to have his work dissected.

Oddly enough I would'nt mind having one of my pieces go under the knife but I don't know that I have any start to finish City of Heroes pieces in color other than that LJ one I did and Suichiro already gave an excellent critique of that one. Most are pencils or pen sketches that I run out of time to work on and new ideas crop up that carry me away... I may have to take a week off after the holiday season and try to finish up some of my WIPs.
(ok rambling here but I too would be interested to hear an educated critique happen in real time )
  8. Yay Happy Uterus Expulsion Day!...

Ok on second thought instead of trying to be different
I think I'll stick with... Happy Birthday!
  9. Ok I have a limited knowledge of comics but it occurs to me that there are many instances of the "huge" body type heroes and villains swelling in size leading up to or during a fight and shrinking down afterwards... notably Colossus the Hulk and even Juggernaut in the old versions ("think Pryde of the X-men") so bearing that in mind most any depiction of Juggy is of him in combat swinging his axe fury bar (he's a brute right?) maxxed out looking to destroy... maybe in this alternate version of him we see him now after combat when the bloodlust has ended and his fury has depleted and he is, as few have seen him, at peace.

Or it could just be me grasping at straws... I had pancakes at IHOP last night and was hitting the Boysenberry syrup pretty hard.

It's a REALLY crappy copy, but this 4 minute clip shows the whole intro and the last part of it is where my avatar comes from. If you care to watch it!

Ok now I see it haha. Yeah that is totally SMG and that is a box of cereal
with red berries on it (still looks like pepperoni when small though lol)
and spike isn't bald and naked just shirtless and bleached.
While I am familiar with the cast I haven't seen that many eps of Buffy
(although I loved the Buffy Musical) but I was/am still a huge Firefly fan though.

Oh and the first few parts have started to appear on my doorstep.
  11. Actually no I was just making a joke from what you said earlier about pencils being too oldschool but now that you mention it the Hot Penc... errr I mean, I have no clue what you could be talking about good sir I would surely never stoop to such tactics (are they working?). Ahem.

P.S. Love the markery (tm) look.
  12. It's digital... LJ has "Traditional Artzititus"... he sneezes whenever he sees a pencil.

    P.S. Wohoo gift art rules!
  13. Ransim, please edit your post to remove the $ amounts as mentioning costs is against the forum rules.
Besides Kheldarn will pelt you with bacon that's been overcooked.

Also please read the original post thoroughly... and welcome to the discussion.

Edit: Not at all Ransim, your gearhead post is welcome (and I did not ask to remove it at all) just remove the dollar amounts.
While being fairly new to the forums myself I see it repeated many times not to mention prices or talk of transactions
and I just don't want your post to be banned or the thread to be modsmacked for any reason is all.
    Also the OP mentions it.

P.S. I do hope you realize I was joking about getting pelted with overcooked bacon... Kheldarn would never overcook it.

Ok great I will start a pro's/con's list and add some of my thoughts and observations and others

Good I hope you pick up some useful info.
And thank Pyro, this thread was his idea.

P.S. I am trying to make sense of your avatar... it looks like blonde in a white dress holds
up picture of pepperoni which lures in a bald naked dude and they make out, then woman in
a red dress shows up and banishes them so she can take a big bite out of some kind of large
fruit? ... I could be wrong about the fruit tho.
  15. No problem buddy I figured as much.

Sidenote: I did have to learn about that movie for film study a while back and it pioneered many of the
effects that are now commonplace in film. Also many film aficionado's, critics and standards committees
consider Citizen Kane to be the best movie ever made... it's worth seeing.

*Looks behind GK's ear* Hey there's nothing back here cept some hardened wax... Kheldarn must
have beat me to it and sealed it off from the inside, Curses!

Ok now that I realize there is a place already here for longwinded highly technical discussions
I will try to make my answers in this thread be more about putting things in simpler terms for those
who don't have tech degrees and just want an easier understanding of my process in general and
how it applies to Pyro's Uber-box in specific.

    Thank you very much Bobby.
I should point out that while custom systems do cost more it's not excessively so and they are still better built than
what you will get from a big box store... I can even build systems under a grand you just won't see as many bells and whistles added.
  16. Wow it's neck and neck with... looks like 10Shia vs 12Foo so far.
  17. Thanks Foo, just went there and put up my first post.

Side note: Sorry but the section titles here stink on ice...
with a title like Technical Issues and Bugs I would think it's
only for talking about in-game issues and nothing to do with
    computer hardware.

Wonder what else I'm missing out on? Is there a secret "Bacon and Gravy"
section titled "Old Socks and Knitting Issues" or something???

P.S. Pyro isn't that the scene from Citizen Kane where Orwell is clapping in
response to the terrible performance his characters wife just gave?
Did I wax poetic off key or something?

    (*Warning, gratuitous handwaving ahead*)

If a 9800 GT is the "entry point" for GR Ultra Mode, and a GTX 285 will run it maxed out without breaking a sweat, a GTX 260 sits right between them: 9800 GT < 9800 GTX+/GTS 250 < GTX 260 < GTX 275 < GTX 285. So either GTX 260 or 5770 should be able to run Ultra mode to some reasonable degree.

    (*End handwaving; drive safely*)

Since ATI is now the official graphics partner for Paragon (instead of Nvidia), I would expect CoX GR to run better on an ATI board, or at least not have any difficulties. However, the game on the Live servers does have "graphical oddities" with ATI at the present moment. If you want prettiness *right now*, the GTX 260 is your board. If you can put up with no water effects, etc for a couple months until GR, go with the 5770.

Your problem better not be power. If you can't feed a 9800 GT, you're not going to be able to run a GTX 260. The 5770 sips less power than the 260, but it should be at least as much draw as a 9800 GT. If your system is hot enough that it's conking out a 9800 GT, those two cards are going to be too hot as well: tie down your cabling, clear out your air paths, and evict all dust-bunnies!
Hello all this is my first post in the tech section (I normally frequent the art section) as it was
just brought to my attention 5 minutes ago that a section for tech stuff even exists.

Wanted to point out quick that the 9800GT is just a rebranded 8800GT. Some of the 98's were
fabbed on the newer 55nm process but most were not. A quick bios refresh and added support
for hybrid SLI if that matters to anyone and that's about it. Otherwise same specs.

Also that is good advice to clean out the dust from any fans and tidy up your wiring so as to not
obstruct airflow as a can of compressed air is only like $6 and the wiring only costs you time.

Finally the 5770 will run on significantly less power and produce less heat and is ready for the new
DX11 and Open GL standards while the 260 is not. I am for the most part brand agnostic (I buy what
is the best at the time for myself and my clients) but right now ATI is the way to go in my opinion...
until we see how the new crop of Nvidia cards stack up.

The only con I see for ATI is the water bug (did they ever fix that thing?) that will disable fancy water
and sewer effects when you turn other settings up.

    Didn't know there was one?
I've been playing since the tail end of Issue2 but when I logged into the
forums the first time all I saw were a bunch of people complaining about what powers should or
shouldn't be nerfed and I promptly tuned out. Only stumbled onto the art forums (maybe has something
to do with the fact that nowhere in the title for the art section is the word ART! ) by accident when
I tuned back in for that big (failed) costume contest a few months back.

Looking through the categories briefly I don't see one called the tech section either. :P

Thanks Manny I was thinking to put up (yet another) wall of text post (I really need to work on economy
of speech ) about who is a good candidate for going custom. Kind of a pro's and con's list of buying
off the shelf from a big box store vs. having one custom made. Perhaps this would be the time, any thoughts on this?
  20. Haha thanks Power Stream, and yes actually I did buy some electronically safe
cleaning fluid +pads and some metal polish and cleaned it up.

The biggest improvement in that case I think (other than the look of it) is I routed and folded and even braided cables
to get them all out of the way so it wasn't blocking the airflow. The main source of cool air are from two front fans just ahead
of the hard drive and it was a royal mess before... afterwards though even the ribbon cables are laying flat against the back of the case
so there is nothing in that space at all... I could literally stick my hand in the air passage and spin it around without touching anything.

That is really a beautiful case, (they don't make them like that anymore) it has an automotive quality paint job
and is made of all aircraft grade aluminum... it's very sturdy but yet light weight. I went looking, after
seeing how nice it was, and found one for sale on Ebay (no window in it though) and grabbed it
    for my own main box.
  21. Nice work on Artemis the perspective of looking down the bow at her is pretty sweet.

    Oh and WB.
  22. Cool it will be nice to have them back and posting once again. Glad to hear she is finding work in a good field she has been trained for... having no internet for that long must really suck.

Dunno if that is going to happen If I actually like what I am doing though :P

either way, Will be buying some propr paper soon and getting into the manual drawing more seriously, so this thread should get some of my love for a little while.
Sweet! I'm sure Starwind and Psygon will be as happy to hear that as I am.

Yeah I hear ya Eddy it is tough to quash the desire to keep going with some of these. But I've found
my speed drawing dramatically improved over time in this thread. My first piece (clockwork)
I went over by a min or two but came out ok, the second (Perez Park) was under 5 but looks kinda
lame lol(thankfully the trees in there are warped and mangled to begin with ) But the more I got
going on it the easier it got and I started doing a two pass approach, the initial sketch that I was
spending the full 5 on I tried to do in 3 and then picked an area of interest to go in and do some detailing
    for the remaining time.

The Croatoa piece (with Chloe up in Katie's tree surrounded by Will o' Wisps) I just
never let the pencil stop moving and if I couldn't think what to be working on I just scribbled out
another background element (like add another wisp) and I found myself "done" with 45 secs to spare
so I chose her hat/face area and made a second pass doing some detail and adding shadow under her hat.
I am very happy with how that piece came out. Now I just refine it and in some I was able to do the
initial pass in 2 minutes and spend all the remaining time doing detail so the pics come out looking a lot nicer now.

I still go over on occasion when I forget to look up at the clock but I find I can get a lot more done in less time.
This thread has been great for that (Thanks again Pyro for starting it).

Cool glad to hear you will be staying a while... now we just gotta lean on Pirate Cashoo and
David Nakayama to spend a few minutes here... cough cough... ahem.
Also hope that Midnight Panther, Crestent and Grey will return and maybe we can get
Implicit Bookcarrier, BloodWolffe and a few others in here in here too... **plans out a few "Tag your it!" quick sketches**
  24. Yep still picking subjects and nice work on the strongman and sticking to 5 mins
(I try with every piece but I need like an egg timer with a 5 min
dial or something lol) Eddy, welcome back.
