It's based off of a hilarious 6-part graphic novel filled with video game and comic book references (try this one out) in which the titular character, Scott Pilgrim, the lovable loser, contends against ninjas, action movie stars and lesbian lovers in an effort to win the love and respect of his new girlfriend.
He has the help of his gay roommate Wallace Well, who anytime he is mentioned is referred to as "gay roommate Wallace Wells." He levels up in video game fashion and attains new abilities.
The movie is directed by Edgar Wright, director and writer of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, two movies that were never short on the action, if that is really all your worried about.
Mostly, the reason to watch Scott Pilgrim is because it's directed exactly at us. We're their audience. The humor hits me right in the sweet spot, and everyone that I have recommended the book to also loved it.
As for your Michael Cera concerns... He was great in Arrested Development. He has seemed similar in every role since, but he hasn't been given much flexibility. This movie will allow him to stretch his legs and show if he can do something out of his ordinary wheelhouse. The character Scott Pilgrim is an overactive, ADD-addled 23-year old (who, on his 24th birthday proclaims that he "will be the best 24-year old... Ever!"). Michael Cera is generally pretty much the opposite; hopefully he adapts and grows into the role. -
The league that I have ran with Infinity players for the past three-four years has a few vacancies this year.
It's full of many names you may recognize, including: Malice, Knight Shayd, Knoxie, Strongstar, ProcessedMeatMan and a few others.
So, if you're inclined to manage a pretend team, send me a PM and I'll send you the information to join. We're taking 1 or 3 people to keep the league at an even number. If there is a huge response (DOUBTFUL), I'll push it to a 14-team league and take 5 more.
I'm leaving this open solely for Infinity for at least a few days, because that's how the league began. But if there isn't much response, I'll open it up for the Fun and Games crew. -
What is this?!
The Infinity server I knew had more than three posts over a two-day period. The Infinity server I knew could post for hours on such menial subjects as "What other games are you playing now?", "What are you reading now?" "What movies are you watching now?", etc, etc ad nauseum. The Infinity server I knew was the perfect place to kill an hour or three whilst stuck at work.
I realize the population is down, and there is only like... 8 people who seem to actively browse this area. But the minority never let that keep them down before! Post about eating a fish of "lol dUmb" or "lol dark armor" or something.

Bought Final Fantasy: Dissidia and Arkham Asylum yesterday, so I hope to get to them soon. I have to either make myself beat FFVII beforehand, or find a decent stopping point - Probably the end of Disc 1.
Next week is Champions Online and Murasame: The Demon Blade for Wii.
I skipped the Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii that released yesterday simply because I have no idea when I would play it.
Sept. 15 is Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 and the newest Mario and Luigi DS RPG.
And there are a few games scattered in there that I've forgotten. September will bury me.
My account here is about to expire, but you guys should add me on the PS3. I'm going to add this here for prosperity.

If I am remembering my Infinity history correctly, Chris used to be a pretty active member on Infinity. Helping with the community, and whatnot. Or he was one of our lolzdrama people who helped dub Infinity the 'drama' server. Either or...
He isn't exactly bashing CoX, just mentioning that he was moving on (permanently or not, I'm not sure), and asking if any of the people he's been playing with for umpteenump years are going to be there as well. Given that both Chris and the OSHA's have 'left' the game multiple times (again, relying on memory, apologies if I'm wrong), I wouldn't really be getting my panties in a bunch over them doing what amounts to a goodbye post and asking if friendly folk will be going where they are.
And given the revolving door that seems to be attached to the game, I'm betting they'll probably stick their heads back in, in the future. It happens. And also given quite a few people will probably be doing trials of CO while simultaneously playing CoX...it, in a roundabout way, does relate to the community.
Though the idea of CoX forumites forming a community outside of CoX in the rival's game makes me chuckle.
And tl;dr, No one asked you to read this thread, and no one is forcing you to continue reading this thread. There are other active threads in the Infinity forum. If this is really pissing you off that bad--GO READ THOSE.

I wish CoH loads of success, and hope it gets even Awesome-er so I'll have some new stuff to mess with in the future. I don't think CO is the savior and the game CoH should have been - It's simply a superhero game that I want to try, just like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, DC Online, and even DC Vs. Mortal Kombat. I'm a fan of comics, so if you make a game based on a comic-inspired atmosphere, I'm interested.
I've only played a little of CO, and so far I don't like the battle system and the movement is off, which could be due to the intense lag I'm getting over there currently. I'm going to try it with a 360 pad when the head start weekend begins this week to see if I like that any better. The graphics, which generally don't bother me (My SNES games get as much play as my PS3 ones do), are quite an eyesore in this game. So damn bright. -

You're crusading against the wrong guy. I'm not bad-mouthing this game, I'm simply asking if other people are going to try out the other game, and if so, we should meet up. I didn't say anything negatively about CoH; you simply inferred it so you could have the argument that apparently you've been dying to have.
We can do that if you want... But my subscription expires within a few days, so just know I'll assume I won INTERNET DEBATE '09 if I'm suddenly disallowed to post. -

Who plans on playing the game?
I'm currently in the Beta, but can't bring myself to play it because it is so laggy and apparently I've lost patience as I've gotten older.
The character creator is nice though.
I'll still be trying it, and I know KS will be there as well. Who else from Infinity will be there? We've gotta get some coordination going. -
I'm about to retire from City of Heroes like Brett Favre.

The Return of the "Other Games" Thread!
I'm currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII from the PSN (just beat FFVII: Crisis Core for the PSP for the first time, and wanted to delve back into the story).
Beginning tomorrow I will also be playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 when it releases on the PSN, and maybe Madden if I get bored and buy it.
Starting Aug. 17th, I'll hopefully be playing the Champions Online Beta, if frikkin' GameStop can get around to getting their preorder beta code cards in, at least.

The annual Infinity Server Fantasy Football league is forming once more. This will be the fourth year (IIRC) we've been together, and this time we've got a few spots available.
If you were in it last year: You should have gotten a renewal e-mail. If not, PM me.
If you are interested in joining the league, which consists of predominately current and former City of Heroes Infinity server players, PM me.
We've done 18 and 20 member leagues, and everyone remains active for the most part. It's traditional rules and scoring, and our Draft date is TBD, most likely on a Sunday within the next three weeks.
