GP, you're durn right it was horrible enough to celebrate. Was truly a nightmare.

Yes, they are deleting it, and replacing it with a Carnival of Shadows Megazone!

Hey folks,
Im having to reschedule the RWZ raid for this Saturday. I would lie about something coming up that's uber important, but the truth is that my friends are throwing me a combination birthday/late divorce party, and there will be steaks. Among other things.... So yeah....
I am not sure when I will reschedule. I will let you know. Sorry for the inconvenience. -
Can you break things apart, like "I was talking to my landLORD when I got bit by a big RECLUSE, and afterwards I went to this old WIDOW's house where I saw a GHOST!"?
-
Sounds great! Feel free to send me a global friend's request using /gfriend. Tell me your global or shoot me a message and I will look for you.
-
I actually tried Niviene but got no response. That makes sense now.

First, is there anyone out there interested in trading infamy for influence? I got 1.1 billion influence at the moment. I'm willing to trade for a fair amount of infamy, we can negotiate the exchange rate.
Second, does anyone know how to change your forum username? Enchantress and "Chant" were already taken, but I have a third one in mind that I think would be more suitable. Ive heard you have to contact the devs but I would know where to begin.
Thanks, -

Welcome to Victory,
I agree with GP and Penny about the channels. They are especially useful for TFs, etc.
On Redside I would strongly recommend an active SG since its hard to find teams over there even with the channels. Necrotech above has one of the more active SGs on Redside.
On blue you are more than welcome to join our SG, the Tribe of Legends. We are one of the more active SGs on the server. Half the toons in the SG log in daily for the most part, and we fill up almost daily and constantly have to make room for new toons. We have a fairly active channel I can invite you to regardless of whether or not you are in the SG. Aside from a few special exceptions (military players or players who have given me notice of extended leave) ALL toons in the ToL have logged on in the past 10 days. On most days we range 10-15 players online during evening and night hours. We do TFs pretty much daily, and lately we have been hosting the weekly Rikti Raid. We have a villain group too, but it's not as active as some of the more established VGs out there.
If that does not sound what you are looking for, I could recommend some other SGs. We also have numerous themed SGs around such as an all female toon SG called Dames of Heaven, several LGBT-friendly SGs such as Titans of Pride, etc. For people who avoid AE at all costs and love regular missions, Avenger Guys is a personal favorite of mine and they are consistently active. It all depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for activity I would definitely say to check us out. Contact me at @Chant if theres anything I can do to help. -
I tried to make sure we would have plenty of time for the Fight Nights.

I think I did a Kahn with you, and I hadn't done it in like months, and like a noob I forgot what the purpose of the stabilizer was for and you had to remind me....
As for why that coalie is not in my SG? Well, he's difficult. KinTrollr-Girl or however he spells it likes to play the "lone-wolf" card, but we're pretty much the only people he TFs with. He's unofficial member, if we voted on stuff he would have voting rights. -
Quote:Weren't you on a Tf with 6 of my members the other night, and a coalie? But I do understand. I consider my SG very active, but I do see many ones that are not active out there.I know when I do get around to teaming, I'm hard pressed to find characters from the same SG on the team (weekly groups notwithstanding).
I will take your advice and give channels more of a shot. I've been doing that a little more lately actually, just like how I've been giving the forums a shot (and have liked it so far). -
I think one extra component of a SG may sound completely nerdy, but some people just like the "feel" of being in one, of having a base, or having a theme, etc. Global channels cannot easily replicate that.
-
I've found global channels bothersome. I really don't care to be "in" on the more established channels out there, and likewise people often forget to put them on tabs on new characters, etc. The only two channels I'm involved in include VB which I primarily use to fill up extra slots on TFs I do with my SG, and the channel for my SG which is pretty much just for when we're playing on toons not in the SG at that given time.
It may be fallacious reasoning, but the point has to be made, if SGs are meaningless why are they used so much still?
As for the set-up being outdated, that I agree. Likewise, to be completely honest, the main reason I established a SG in the first place was so I could do my own base designs without worrying about some person with the red star messing up all my stuff. It just kinda grew up from that. -
Greetings Victory Server,
The Tribe of Legends will be hosting another Ship Raid this Saturday at 7:30 PM EST. I get many questions about what time that is in particular people's time zone, so if that's a concern, consult this link. For EST pick Georgia-Atlanta.
We will be using a variation of the model for raids located here. I will give out details at the raid site.
To participate, just go to RWZ and meet us at Point du Hoc located on your map around 7:00 PM. As I have discussed before on the forums, I request only toons level 35 or higher. Preferably level 50s if you have them. The raid consists of many level 54 enemies and unfortunately lowbie toons damage the success of a profitable raid.
If you have any questions, or are interested in being a bomb team leader, send tell to @Chant.
Thank you all, let's continue to raid the Rikti regularly! -
I disagree with this. I understand that for a veteran player having your own SG just for storage may be all you need, but SGs also help newer players (or at least they SHOULD). It creates a sense of cohesion among a group of players.
Humans naturally group themselves. Even if it's not a "SG" per se, but SG is just one expression of this. Victory Badges is a group as well, not just a channel. To that extent Victory is a group. SGs are also a form of media as well.
I've heard many players comment that its hard to find a team in a less-active SG or that they even feel "left out."
Essentially for a player that has 60 something vet badges and knows hundreds of people and is wildly popular on the forums or whatever, I can see why a SG can be meaningless to them as other groups meet their needs. But not every player has access to those groups or the same connections.
And honestly, SGs also foster competition that hopefully is more often than not healthy.
Essentially SGs are a slightly more formal way for doing what we would do anyways, and that is create cliques and social groups. It serves that function. Something to work towards that is bigger than oneself. Yeah, it may not make much of a difference in your personal well-being or life, but neither does this game in general. -

I plan to attend and will alert all I know about it.
-
I also agree with GP, for all players, now is a good time to "branch out." Victory won't get any bigger until at least the next issue, so now is a great time to meet other veteran players. I have become more active in the Badges channel and on the forums myself. All the while I have met some really cool people.
-
Hey Flux, for some reason I didn't catch this post until now. Congrats on one year.
Glad to hear that Tribe has helped you continue to enjoy the game. Victory is and will remain to be the best server, and CoH will remain the best MMO out there.
As for Snowy, I cannot brag about her enough! She's truly been the culmination of my CoH experience.
Take care, -
I think the forums, Victory Badges channels and the like are enough to educate players on events, etc. It's to some degree part the responsibility of the player to do their homework about such events.

Personally, I do not think you can rank a SG in any manner. Different strokes for different folks. I would say you can distinguish from "acceptable" and "unacceptable" but even that would be subjective. Some like large SGs, some like small, some prefer veteran players only, some prefer just friends. That's why there is so much variation out there, because there is a diversity of desires.
In my opinion, any SG that treats its members with respect and follows the ToS of the game is an "acceptable" group. No matter what ethical background you may have come from, the belief that you should treat others as you would have yourself to be treated always should apply. I think any SG that tries to convey such standards for its members is worthy of any Top 10 list, regardless however many SGs there are out there like that. Whatever rules that follow or admission standards is up to the SGs at that point.
