do some Time powers work better with melee or ranged minions? I know with bots, I can ignore the attack powers and focus on the minions and the upgrade powers. demon summoning has a debuff in a whip attack at least, and beast attacks bump up that pack mentality (still not sure if I'm taking that or not). I don't know if Time favors the ranged pets more like bots and gang, or melee focused pets from necro and beast.

I noticed you picked a travel power after lvl 20. do you have one of those travel powers that are account wide you picked up through the market? and if so, which one did you choose? when I started out with the bots/FF I picked up flying at lvl 6, and eventually went into teleportation. force fields is a nice secondary when you only need key powers and can ignore the other half that largely don't help a mastermind much. allowed me to mess with the power pool a bit more. that's much harder to do with the Time powers though, I'm not sure which ones I can skip over as I've no experience with it and all seem to be useful.
also noticed that you ended up taking all attack powers. through most MM builds I've seen here, attack powers are often avoided if they don't provide some other effect (like the demon summoner's whip). I know attack powers help bolster pack mentality, but will my pets be able to bump it up to 10 without much help from me? I don't even know if there's enhancements that up pack mentality procs or not. -
most builds I've seen highlighted in these forums are for lvl 50. I'm about to pair Time with a mastermind build and would like to see some usable builds that get me through much of the tedium in leveling--at least until the first respec. no particular focus on melee or ranged pets, but I know some primaries like demon summoning or beastmastery benefit more from taking attack powers rather than robotics and some others.
To sum up, I'm not new to mastermind (robotics/FF) but would like to see some low to mid level builds that put Time to work, which powers I can skip for certain minions, etc. Thanks in advance! -
okay, here's the thing. I'm planning to start a beastmastery MM build with time as my secondary, and both are powers I've never touched before. there's a lot of must haves from both sets, and at least one or two ranged attacks that help bolster Pack Mentality. what I'm looking for is not a high level build or lvl 50 one.
I want to be able to survive long enough to at least reach the first respec quest and and perhaps respec a second power selection (at some point I know we can toggle between two builds). the end game builds are nice to spec and try out--when you are end game. what about builds that help me survive and be useful until lvl 20 or something? I'm looking for some low to midlevel powerchoice options, so I don't gimp myself in my long quest for lvl 50 status. thanks in advance!
oh, I also enjoy teaming with other players who are doing lower level quests. I'm not a fan of a lvl 50 build gimping me when I get my level scaled back to 14 or something. there really are not enough low to mid level builds available. -
just a heads up, I have both test and beta servers installed now. character copy is working fine for me too. the main difference I saw is beta server allows one to use market items where test server does not (example, I can only test the travel powers like ninja run in Beta, never received it in test server).

Update: and it's a bit weird. I reinstalled the beta, and the beta shortcuts didn't appear in start menu. odd enough, but even more so is when I used the =CohTest shortcut again, and this time I got the option to install the test version. I'm gonna guess that something was going beyond the launcher that prevented installation of the test server client, but this is just a guess. anyway the install is going to take an hour or so.

Quote:but that is what I used. CohTest in the shortcut pulls up a beta install, not a test install, test server, public test or test anything. I only played about a week so far, and never saw anything with test in it. just beta.I was just on the Test server; checking my shortcut for Test I see "I:\NCSoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe /LaunchGame=CoHTest" (I have an aversion to installing software on my Windows drive). Does your shortcut look similar (notice the difference in the slashes)?
oh, when I installed the subscriber beta I see new shortcuts that have beta in it as well, the one I created does NOT seem to do anything, or even autorun the "test" server. -
Okay, I'm a very recent subscriber (VIP) to city of heroes. started with mastermind, really enjoying it, and the community on the Virtue server has been very helpful. This question relates to the test server or test servers, because I'm still not sure what they're called or which ones still exist.
I've followed the instructions in these boards for the Public Test Server by using that link which was dated in 2011, rather than the older ones in the Development forum. I make my shortcut, modify it to have =CohTest, and then it brings up the NCSoft launcher. in it I see CoH Subscriber Beta as the one to install. yet the boards do not call it beta, the Paragon Wiki does not call it beta. in fact, when I install attempt to install the subscriber beta, the folder that's created is not CohTest, but CohBeta.
so what do I need to do here to use the test server? or is beta the test server? or is beta the only server to survive for testing and copying live characters over try out new content before it's live? the instructions in the Development > The Global Training Room (Test Server) part of the forums is very dated, by a few years (2009) and why I didn't use a link that didn't include the mandated NCSoft launcher. it seems the old methods don't apply, no longer exist, or haven't been properly updated by the devs, the community, or anyone that seems to have a clue.
to sum up, the folder created after changing the city of heroes shortcut to end with CohTest provides an install that uses CohBeta instead. the launcher doesn't even mention test or training. Is Beta the training server? is the training server removed now? I'd really like some up to date information on this. Thanks again for any help from the CoX vets here, I know I'm not the only one asking this question.
