Not at all. Now that Jane has the badge, I'll swap to Jaine (fire/kin corr) who deals better single target damage - and has scourge. I may see if I can respec her into tactics if necessary, but bottom line is there were several on the initial successful league who were not on their badge toons. Clearly we need to work to remedy that.

Thursday nights will be Mag runs for some time - either RHW or some of the other badges. Tuesday nights will be badge runs for other trials.

I'm not sure if I would call it 'easy'. 'Nerve-wracking', 'nail-biting' and 'ulcer-inducing' do come to mind, however!

Thanks to EVERYONE on Pinnacle as well as Amygdala and Placta on Champion for their help. Clearly this badge is a server-wide effort with people leveling their alts and slotting incarnate powers to compliment each other. The key ingredient we were missing was -resist...for some reason, early on, I accepted at face value that Tyrant was immune to everything but -max-hp. Clearly he is not! A few rads, some sonics and down he went.

It was soooooo gratifying to see his health drop into the 20s and teens. He'd drop by 7 or 8, then regen by 5, but the overall trend was about a point per second down to the end. I had to keep glancing at the count of lights to make sure we hadn't killed one by accident (that happened - TWICE - early on in our runs).

Again - AWESOME JOB to everyone. I'll be running more Thursday attempts (at 6 pacific, 9 eastern) in the weeks to come so those who were not on their badge alts, or who 'skipped' this week can get their shiny!

This is badge #1394 for Jane and, once again, she's maxxed out until the next issue.

Tuesday nights are iTrial badge run nights, btw. Again, 9 eastern, 6 pacific. See you there!

    Pinnacle rocks!
  3. Kins we have covered. Ultimates we have covered - folks bring 4 and we take him at least to 50% before we even use the first one.

I was told that Tyrant's ability to be -resist debuffed was minimal, so we haven't focused on that at all. If he's able to be resistance debuffed, that's definitely something we need to change.

The strategy thus far has been:

    1) Take him to 50% / first "plateau" without ultimates (although I suppose this would go much faster if we simply used 'em at this point)

    2) Pop ultimates and take him to 2nd plateau (typically 40ish).

    3) Move one team at a time out of the bowl to launch lores (folks were dying by lightning spawns during lore launch, and one team at a time seems to keep up the DPS so he doesn't regen much.

    4) Once all teams have lores launched, make sure ultimates are in place, hit Call To Justice, team insps, etc - anything to turn on the gas and hit him hard. For Lores, we've been favoring Cimoreans (max raw DPS even though it's S/L) and Warworks. Interface - anything with extra damage. Hybrid - assault for damage dealers (radial for double strike) and support for everyone else.

Thus far, without -resist, we've gotten him into the upper / mid 20s using this method. So the mod to this strategy would be to have any low-DPS alts focus on providing -resists.

And yes, the pet fix had no effect on RHW. I knew that.
  4. Has anyone successfully met this badge requirements since the pet nerf (lore pets do not receive level shift via lights) and/or the lights nerf (hover/fly prevents damage from lightning)?

We've been trying for this badge on Pinnacle for over a month with regular runs with top-notch, well slotted incarnates. We've gotten Tyrant into the upper 20's in terms of health a few times, but lately only mid to lower 30s. Is this badge achievable given the current game settings?
  5. On Pinnacle, our R2R strategy is as follows:

    1) Pick a team that has mostly high damage lore pets (Cimoreans works). This team will be first to spawn lore pets and will do so immediately upon entering the map. The other 2 teams do not spawn Lore pets yet.

    2) The non-Lore teams move quickly up the left and right sides hitting AOEs and taking out minions and Lts. The bosses will take some damage but take too long to completely kill without lore pets. They'll wind up about half health and the Lore team will finish them off with 1 or 2 shots as they move slowly up behind the other two teams, mopping up bosses which are easily spotted because the mobs are thinned. It's good to have the Lore pets speed boosted, not because their attack rate is faster but because they can move to the next target more quickly - which effectively allows them to attack faster. Overall, this will cut several minutes off the counter phase.

    3) Once the AVs spawn, teams 2 and 3 launch lore pets. Attack Shadowhunter first, he will die very quickly. Then Naga, whose shield doesn't stand a chance against the full league and lore pets. After these two, Chimira. Controllers and Dominators can use Geas + Vanguard or the redside equivalents to help hold him. We've completed without allowing him to teleport a couple times.

    4) Then comes the cut scene, then Black Swan. Team 1's lore pets will be dying early into the Black Swan fight, but that's fine, use them as a 5 minute timer to gauge progress. Black Swan will typically die within 90 seconds, which leaves plenty of time left on the badge timer. Typical completion is 6 to 6 1/2 minutes using this method.
  6. Interesting thread on one of the other servers. Apparently they're requiring (I'll downgrade that to encouraging) at least 2 Leadership powers in addition to preferring Psi-dealing lore pets. Seers are too slow, I think there are others, are there not? Apparently Tyrant has no Psi resist.

Anyway, with Assault and Tactics both infinitely stacking, having a bunch of league members with those active at all times is a major bonus. Also, they can be re-launched after a death pretty quickly, although with some solid practice, dying isn't really an issue on this trial. Just gotta move when you see 'Crackle'.

Anyway, I'm going to attempt two pinnacle runs this week, Tuesday 7/3 and Thursday 7/5. I'll be respeccing Jane out of Siphon Power and Maneuvers and into Tactics and Assault and would encourage anyone who is serious about this badge to consider doing the same if it doesn't break your build.
  7. [QUOTE=CatAtomic;4285894]However, I plan on making it up THIS week on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 5pm pacific, 8 eastern.

Let's get some signups, shall we? Please specify:

Global, Alt name, Lore (Cim preferred, other high DPS too), Destiny (Barrier or Ageless), Hybrid (Assault or Support)

    (I'll go first)
@CatAtomic, Jane Reaction, Cimorean T4, Ageless T4 (Barrier T4 avail), Assault T4 (Support avail)
  8. It didn't form because I fell asleep. RL = crazy right now.

However, I plan on making it up THIS week on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 5pm pacific, 8 eastern.

Here's what I'm reading on the forums:

    1) It's all about DPS. I haven't heard people come right out and say it, but I think this badge boils down to lore pets. And while lore pets can't get a recharge boost from things like ageless or speed boost, they do increase movement speed, which means they'll chase Tyrant and continue hammering him faster.

    2) It's all about DPS. A dead player means Lore pets die. So we need to keep our league alive. That means that while a couple Ageless *WILL* be helpful, the vast majority of Destinies should be Barrier. That also means we should launch lore pets immediately upon entry rather than attempting to only give him 24-ish targets to kill, then haphazardly spawning Lores later. That seems to be a consistent thread across the accounts I've seen from other successful runs, posts like "Launched lore pets, had him dead in 3 1/2 minutes". So, lore + 1/2 of the league's barriers upon entry, then the other half 60 seconds to overlap. Spam barrier upon recharge after that and keep it coming.

    3) Crackle means run. No exceptions. The pets will continue to hammer him.

Let's get this on Wednesday, shall we?

    Barrier + Cimerorans + Assault

Oh - and those olympian guards? Ion those on an ongoing basis. One fights incarnates with incarnate powers...
  9. So what I'm hearing is lore pets should be chosen for max DPS. To me, that means Cimoreans. And while SB doesn't up their power recharge, it does up their mobility, so having a bunch of romans zipping around chasing Tyrant when he moves (since they're almost 100% melee with their attacks) would be ideal.

As for -resist debuffs, the more the merrier. Yes, these may stack to a maximum, but that's not to say that league members will all be alive or near him at the time. We should also consider buffs which up DPS, including ageless (more recharge = more attacks), SB, AM, etc.

What debuffs would Melt Armor and / or standard /rad debuffs provide? Those are ranged and would allow folks to get out of melee and away from the death fist.
  10. First, thanks to everyone who's worked so hard thus far to figure out the specifics of the Tyrant fight. I think we're on track to get this badge.

Second, we're going to be forming weekly runs on Thursday around 5pm pacific, 8pm eastern to work on this badge.

Lastly, use this thread to discuss strategies, Tyrant's weaknesses and strengths and ways of combating him.

    What's known so far:
    1) Tyrant is immune to pretty much everything except -resist, -maxhp and -to-hit.
    2) His 60' pbaoe fist is pretty much a one shot if you're in melee and have less than perfect health
    3) The trial is currently bugged such that only 16 objects (pets, people) on the map get the level shift, although this has no bearing on the RHW badge
    4) The prevailing opinion on strategy appears to be to buff (+def, +to-hit, +recharge) players and pets as much as possible, spam heals as much as possible and overwhelm him with DPS.

Let's discuss which interfaces, destinies and normal power sets can achieve that.

    DB server error

On Pinnacle, I can't get into Steel or Talos. Cap works. Folks on the Global channel are reporting Atlas is down. If logging in to toons in those zones, the loading screen never shows, the game client locks up before it gets to the loading screen, the shows "Lost connection to DB server". If in game, the zone never loads and the connection times out.

    Sending petition/bug report.
  13. Well, it's hardly "the one" that got away. On Jane's account, I'll never get the 1st or 2nd year anniversary and unless they change the 5th column gladiator requirements, that's not in the cards either.

But these are for events gone by, not for performing tasks - and I have no problem with not having been around when those events occurred. Passport falls into this category too. It happened, I wasn't here, no big deal.

Bug hunter is just -- arbitrary. Completely and totally arbitrary. It's like winning one of those ridiculous costume contests in AP. Totally subjective and awarded at the whim of whoever happened to be in a good mood at the time. And that strikes me as wrong.

The proposal was intended to make the badge requirements clear and allow players to work on the badge while also benefiting the game. I think that's doable - maybe not with the specifics of my proposal, but with a similar approach. And I don't think enough folks care about badges (maybe I'm wrong) to "flood the test staff" with bogus submissions. Maybe I'm wrong there, too.
  14. Hi,

The concept of a "discretionary" badge has always been troublesome, so I would like to propose some very concrete criteria and suggest that the much loved/hated bug hunter badge requirements be altered accordingly.

Bug Hunter should be just that - awarded to people who find bugs. That being said, bugs have different severity levels and different priority levels. Clearly it's the intention of the current badge criteria (find an unreported exploit) to reward people for finding only the most severe bugs. Two problems with this. First, the completely arbitrary and ill defined concept of "Exploit". Second, the notion that you have to be the first one to find and/or report it.

Bugs which can actively upset the "normal" flow of the game NEED to be reported. For instance, they might allow people to level too quickly (original CoPain exploit, level 41 exploit, spiderling exploit, etc) or otherwise achieve in-game rewards which are designed to be "spread out" or "paced"; being earned over time or at a governed rate. Worse, some exploits could potentially compromise the game itself or player accounts or information. Clearly those should remain a focus. Let's call these "Severity One" bugs.

There are only going to be so many of these and the vast majority are going to be found on the test server. That means that a great many people won't ever have a chance to earn this badge - statistically speaking.

Most people will never be impacted by these yet there are glitches which affect daily play which go unreported and unfixed.

What about things like holes in maps? Misspelled words in missions? Commands which don't do what they're supposed to do? Glitches which cause doors to be unreachable? Nuances which allow giant monsters to be pulled into Atlas Park to crush level 1s coming out of the tutorial?

I propose that any and all of these should be made known to the Dev staff and that the bug hunter badge should be the vehicle to do so. However, credit for less severe bugs should also be given on a point scale.

If you find an exploit - something upsetting to the balance and playability of the game or which compromises security or personal info, then you get the badge immediately. Period. 25 of 25 points toward the badge.

If you find a significant bug - something which is annoying and should be fixed (let's call these Severity Two bugs) like a hole in a map, a situation where a power won't fire or won't work as its supposed to work, etc, then you get a lower number of points. Let's say 10. The person looking to earn the badge MUST fill out a proper bug report form complete with steps to reproduce the error.

If you find a cosmetic bug, misspelled mission info, for instance, you get one point. Again, proper bug reporting is required complete with steps to reproduce it.

This benefits the game. This benefits the staff, particularly the test staff who suddenly have a lot more eyes looking for issues. And it benefits the player population who get a higher quality game as a result.

It also makes this badge achievable if people are honestly willing to put in the time and effort to find and report blemishes as well as exploits. There are plenty of them out there to report!

Now, I don't want to unduly burden the game staff with tracking all of this, so the final requirement for getting the badge would be for those interested in obtaining the badge to track their own submissions via the bug reporting process. The game would give confirmation numbers when bugs were reported and since the test staff would simply have to verify steps to reproduce, they could get back to those reporting the bugs with a point count based on the assigned severity of the issue reported. Those points would be awarded to the account and would immediately adjust the progress bar for the badge. Get to 25 and you get the badge.

Again, the goal would be to enlist the player population to help QA the game - but also to make this one capricious badge have some concrete requirements so it CAN BE EARNED by all.

Yes, I get this on 2 of my laptops. I've verified all files (no issues), run chkdsk (no issue). These same two machines also crash when I try to interact with wentworth's - but otherwise play the game fine.

  16. I don't think the star system is a failure. What I do think is that the AVERAGE start calculation - and making value judgments based on that metric - is flawed.

Take Footsteps - still the only (intermittent) Hall of Fame arc. One it achieves HoF status, inevitably a flood of zero star ratings bring it down below HoF threshold.

The solution? Once HoF, always HoF. You don't remove The Beatles from the rock and roll HoF simply because they aren't on the charts anymore. Likewise, a story's accomplishment should reflect its high water mark performance.

Second, default the rating to 3 stars, not zero stars.

No one arc is going to please everyone who rates it. However, artificially inflating or deflating ratings should be difficult.

I also agree with "Only allow those who complete the arc to rate it", although spawning an arc at level 1 and running it with 50s would make this restriction almost worthless. Perhaps all team members should be auto exemped to the level of the spawner/team lead?
  17. Why can't you use your eyes? Because maybe the map is huge and you don't feel like clearing.

Chibi, great idea. I think a little mark in the navigation compass would do the trick nicely, kind of like the "how to get out of here" beacon when leading a hostage to the entrance.
