  1. What a conveniently timed thread!

I'm just now considering IO sets for my new Traps MM and am looking at ways to put a little more pizzazz into the Acid Mortar and the Caltrops. As an MM I've got slots to spare, and I was wondering what the effect would be of stuffing these two powers full of procs.

From the answers already given, it looks like the procs would fire when activated and then every 10 seconds thereafter, so long as the Caltrops and/or Mortar hung around. Yes?

What happens if an enemy enters into the AoE after the power is planted? Do the procs have a chance of affecting them immediately, or will they wait until the next 10-second instance?

Also, for you proc-familiar folks, which do you recommend- basic damage or the various status-affecting procs?
  2. Hey guys,

I went ahead and bumped Boopsie over to 27th while doing some monster hunting the last day of the Halloween event. That let me get her all outfitted with new SOs, so as not to eat up Legends time with administrative stuff.

I also have Shivans stacked away, ready for use if need be against the Tree of Doom(tm).

    See you all Tuesday!
  3. Victory and Triumph still down, I blame them!

Will try to log on in a couple minutes regardless...
  4. OK,

So walking broke the game. Who woulda thunk? :/

Anyhoo, I'm here, and will hop on when it looks like we're in the green.

    See y'all soon!
  5. Woo!

And here I thought I was going to be late. Some snafu with the new patch?

I'm downloading patchy stuff right now, and was getting on to say I'd be in ASAP, but I'm guessing that's not an issue.

    *goes off to check announcements*
  6. Probably won't be from me, but you know it's coming:

  7. Oh yeah! Some so-so procs from the merits, but also a LotG +Recharge!!

For those of you missing out on Spectre's TF runs, I heartily recommend them. I gets the bestest stuff when he's around.
  8. Whoa,

All kindsa stuff happened when my back was turned! Halloween has gotten the fate wheel turning at 'blend' speed!

WB Spectre, Vaya Con Dios Johnny and Vexxxa!

Hope everyone gets their web-browsing issues fixed soon!

Oh, and this may somehow be appropriate. A surprisingly sfw Penny Arcade strip, that sums up many a Microsoft user's experience, even if it's not Windows 7.
  9. I'm looking forward to it!

I've only ever done it the one time before, and the conclusion was great. It's nice to see those set pieces of exterior locations used logically in missions, and the Sky Raider base is a wonderful 3-D battleground. Outdoor missions using ruins or dime-a-dozen streets? Ugh. Outdoor missions with actual architecture? Awesome!

Makes me wish there was something similar using the the aboveground portions of the Council base on Sharkhead, or an outdoor cemetery mission using Potter's Field.
  10. This thread is now rated 'T' for teen.

Y'know, I heard a rumor that any time you see a scantily clad female toon, that that's really what the chick running her is wearing in real life. >.>

/about as likely as the lvl 54 rumor
    //equally as disturbing, too
    ///what rumors have YOU heard?
  11. I popped on to start migrating Boopsie to SOs and it occurred to me that we're going to blast right through the 20-25 level mayhem with all the Halloween stuff.

So I'm going start dropping newspaper missions and turn off XP when I hit 24, in the hopes of getting the mayhem before 25. Then we can all grab it and get introduced to whatsisname, the Family contact, as planned, in a couple of weeks.
  12. So,

According to Avatea here, the Halloween event goes live tomorrow, in time for the next Legends meeting. Is this something we want to do as a group, or is it more of an individual thing? I'm guessing we've got 2 weeks at least to run around and trick or treat or whatever, but it'll be fresh and shiny tomorrow.

    Thoughts?
  13. I'll round 'em up and put 'em in storage. I'm about to pop on and zip through my lvl 16 Mayhem, and I should have a little extra market time afterwards.

What's next on our hit parade? Costume slot and working towards the Sharkhead mayhem?

Oh, and a big THANK YOU to Golgothan for running the cold demon blasting afterwards! This marks the earliest I've ever gotten that badge, and it's sweet.
  14. I'm in. The cold buggers are always a pain in the tush to put together. Also, I may be a little late tonight. Got a scout leader meeting an hour and a half before Legends time. I *think* we'll be done and back before 8, but I've never been to one of these before, so I'm not sure.

Gah, leadership. Here's your lesson, kids: Never volunteer for stuff!

Just a reminder that I have the Skyway Mayhem as well, and will hang onto it til next week. It's set at 16th level, so we'd probably just burn through it to grab the temp power and then out. If we're all hitting 20 and no one's interested, I'll solo it, but the self-rez is darned useful.
  16. I have to admit, I didn't see her that much. We beat her pretty damn quick. It's possible she was elite and I wasn't paying enough attention when I clicked on her and hit the "KILL, MY MINIONS, KILL!!!!" switch.

Strange how some foes give a particular group giant hassles and others don't. I think some of the named bosses gave us more trouble than she did.
  17. OK, seriously: I fit all your definitions for Casual except for the market stuff. I don't farm, only have 3 50s after 5 years, and the majority of my characters have never made it past the teens. And I still use SOs from levels 22-32.

However, using a combination of the Market Forum for basic strategy (very nice folks posting over there, drop on in and say 'hi') and Mids for planning makes buying and slotting IO sets easy as pie. Anyone can do it, just read up a bit first. Also, I can pop on and do market stuff for 10-15 minutes rather than drum up a group which I'd then have to leave after only one mission. On days I can't play, the market is a great way to sorta-play. So I'm a very pro-market player.

Lastly, to monkeywrench your thought process, I'll note there's a difference between the casual game player and the casual forum goer. I've long since lost my amateur status here, and that makes a difference in the way I play. I'd like to think being part of the conversation here makes me a better player. Certainly it makes me a more experienced one, and that alone will impact one's play.
  18. OK,

So it was great to be able to catch the last mission on Tuesday! I was vaguely hoping that Facemaker ramps up to at least an Elite Boss on a big team, but alas, no. Still, she and her minions were enough to catch me up to you folks.

So, I soloed my mayhem and hit up Themari to see if he'd recommend Willy Wheeler. But he was a giant jerkwad. I was 15th level at that point, so he gave me no missions and recommended nobody. >:? HOW DARE HE, THE INSIGNIFICANT SWINE!?!

Naturally, I went to Bloody Bay and acquired some giant radioactive blobs with which to threaten him. That plus some more newspaper missions cracked him (and 16th level), and he coughed up Wheeler's contact info. Plus some radioactive teeth.

I'll be ready to rumble come next week, and I now have the Skyway Mayhem on tap for when everyone hits 16+. We can swoop in, grab the temp power and head on our way without outlevelling too many contacts.
  19. I direct you to this thread here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=187759 for redside action Tuesdays at 8 eastern. Vets and noobs alike, we're blasting our way through what the Rogue Isles have to offer. The group that's met so far is now roughly 13th level, but super-sidekicking makes things easy. Come on down and join the fun!
  20. Oh good,

I'm glad to see more folks signing up! 8 pm tomorrow, we're getting ready for Mayhem in King's Row, launching out of Cap Au Diable. You might want to get on early and grab 2 levels, so you can get the jump pack after we demolish whatever pathetic "hero" Paragon throws at us.

And I say 'we' like I'm going to be there, even though I'm not.

My best friend's sister just got out of the hospital this weekend from a major surgery, and we're taking turns in the evenings fetching and carrying for her. Tomorrow night's my turn in the barrel, so it looks like I'm not going to make it. Maaaaybe just before 10 or so, but that's pushing it. If I can make it, I will, but very late is the best hope, if at all.

Sorry folks, but I didn't realize this conflict was coming back when I signed up. Punish those Paragon do-gooders for me, eh? I'll be back next week, with my shambling creations ready for action.

So normally I just grab the few IOs I consider most important to that toon as soon as I can, and switch to a full IO build at 47. There ya go! You've answered your own question as to why I was buying IO sets at the market two weeks ago. I figure at the rate stuff pops redside, I'll actually have what I want when we hit our mid-30s. At least, I hope so. The I16 XP boost to the lower levels is pretty darned noticeable, and may play havoc with my scheduled acquisitions.
  22. DOs, Bah!

Invention Origins are where it's at! All my abilities stem from my marvelous INVENTIONS!! MWAH-Ha-HA-HWAaahoopy-doop!

At least, they do until level 22. Then it's SOs through the 30s, 'cause I prefer set bonuses over frankenslotting.

Loads of fun last night, even as I faceplant here and there while learning how much I can and can not tank with a less-than-full set of minions and enhancements. Better tanking to come in the future, I promise.

Looking forward to Mayhem and Krylov next week!
  23. I'll be there with my new costume slot on!

    Now with more mad-sciencey goodness!
