Hi Everyone!
My wife and I are planning a new duo focused around her rolling an Ice/Kin Corruptor. The goal is to compliment scourging, Fulcrum Shifted Ice Storms and Blizzards for a variety of tasks. We mainly play as a duo but with the new teleport to a trial system we group here and there. We definitely want to focus on several targets at once (+1/x6-8) and still be able to take on tough single targets such as EBs and AVs.
So far I have a couple possibilities in mind but wont rule out any other suggestions if you have any!
The first was a Storm/Sonic Defender. With Fulcrum Shift bringing us to near damage cap levels I figured the only way to squeeze more damage out of this duo would be through resistance debuffs. Freezing Rain coupled with a Defenders higher RES values on the Sonic attacks seems like a good combination. However defensively this pairing would seem lacking. I figured I could make smart use of knockback with Gale, Shockwave, and Hurricane to herd enemies into walls and corners and keep folks flopping around to mitigate our damage intake but will that be enough? Thematically all the rains and the storm powers would make us quite the pair.
My second idea was doing something with /Time. Times additional recharge benefits on top of my wifes Siphon Speed and Hasten would increase her output. While Slowed Responses RES value is not as great (any idea if this stacks like multiple instances of Freezing Rain?) Times overall jack of all trades style would fill in some other holes. Especially, Power Boosted Farsight would help our defenses far more (unless Im proven wrong) than the Storm/Sonic Defender would. My only question is do I do this as a Corruptor or a Controller? On the Corruptor side I could leverage more Recharge with Psychic Blast, and as a Controller I have a thing for area confuses. Plant and Electric sound fun or Ice and its Arctic Air? Or do I even go with a Robots/Time Mastermind?
The last idea was something with Cold Domination. Leveraging Kinetics albeit melee based heal with Colds shields. Colds single target debuffing would certainly meet our goals of tackling EBs and AVs and in the end it offers some storminess with Sleet for a RES debuff. I believe Colds benefits are sung from the rooftops, but this is a very slow blooming set and we have been known to drift away from duos if the dangled carrot just seems too far away.
So any thoughts on the above or even other options would be of great help! Thanks for your time! -
Thanks everybody for the outpouring of input, it's sincerely appreciated! I've got a lot to think over between now and the next issue but think I'll be able to make a sound decision with all this advice.
I'd love to do two Warshades but we want to see the Loyalist story arc in Praetoria and at least one of us needs to be Praetorian to pull that off. It looks like I'll definitely be doing Cold Domination in some capacity based on the feedback, whether I pair it with Sonic or something else I'll have to go through Mids and make some decisions!
Thanks again! -
Thank you both! I didn't expect such quick and thoughtful responses! it certainly gives me some options to consider. Of course I always appreciate more input so if others have different suggestions and the reasons behind them I'd love to hear them.
One thing I did want to note is that we're planning on running this duo in I19. We plan on having her Warshade come to Praetoria to do missions through 20. So villain ATs are an option!
Edit: One final note, I did say I wasn't interested in being a buffbot however if Force Field is the clear best duo partner for the Warshade I'm willing to do it so long as I can keep busy with a solid primary or secondary outside of it. -
Hi eveveryone,
My wife is interested in starting a Warshade. She's been similarly inspired by the 'MFng Warshade' guide and is still debating on whether to go tri-form or human form. Regardless of her choice I'd like to have something to play with her that is highly complimentary. Either something that can buff her to Godhood or debuff her targets to anemic levels or layer on additional controls to render the mob into easy pickings. So, Kheldian gurus, what does a Warshade need to be better than they already are?
I'd like to be fairly active and not just a glorified buffbot, something that can perhaps help create the corpse fuel a Warshade needs.
Any ideas? -
Hi all,
My wife and I took a brief hiatus from the game but came back with the latest expansion and the new content. We've done some tentative duos but so far we're still looking for something to progress beyond Praetoria. I'm a bit removed from Masterminds and have read several times on the boards about the power of Bots / Traps. However I'm trying to determine whether this power against AVs and other hard targets is due to the secondary of the primary. Thus could you pair Traps with the Demon Summoning and be equally viable?
Any thoughts on the viability of Demon / Traps or insight into why Bots / Traps is so dominant?
As an aside, hearing how indomitable the Bots / Traps combination is could my wife play something with Trick Arrow that has no heals or perhaps something else? We thought about leveraging Oil Slick burn patch with the Assault Bot patch of any lingering effects from the Demons (admittedly my knowledge on their abilities is limited).
Again, all thoughts are welcome! -
My wife and I recently attained our first 50's on the Villain side and instantly rolled a pair of SoA's (I went Soldier, she went Widow). We're still getting our feet wet and experiencing a lot of the pre-24 growing pains and our minds are not 100% made up on what to do with our advanced career paths.
Since we're still up in the air we'd like to hear ideas on what pair of SoA's work good together, have great synergy, and most of all just have a ton of fun. We predominantly duo (98% of the time) but aren't opposed to teaming if the mood is right.
Any thoughts from seasoned SoA's?
