Combine that with Hulk supposedly talking more and getting along better with Banner, and it's going to be ******* awesome. I almost wish he'd fight Thor, though, but I suppose I can be happy with him tearing through an entire army.

Some have made it to the big time, though, like Venom and Harley Quinn.
  3. I told myself to resist watching more clips and such as they're released but . . .

    I was powerless.

    one more month....one more month...
I kinda know what you mean. I remember when they came out with X2 and started releasing clips like this. I was still excited for the movie and enjoyed it when it came out, but I regretted following the movie so closely up until the release.

I hope they don't release too much more. They should just let the anticipation simmer.
  5. It's only too bad that there's no female villain for Black Widow to get into a catfight with, like Sinn or Madame Hydra. Whedon does awesome catfights.

  7. I'm looking forward to all of the Avengers getting their Whedonized moments.

To be honest, I'd prefer they NOT use Adam Warlock at all for the movies. His character is a bit.....unique, in part thanks to how Jim Starlin defined the character, but also the plot device of how Warlock could/does become the Magus is really worn out.

Drax....we could do without him if Thanos shows up, but his sole purpose is to kill Thanos. If they don't make him mindless like the Hulk or as single minded as he was in his first incarnation then it could work. He'd bring extra brute force to the fight against Thanos, and Thanos in his first incarnation was already strong enough to fight both the Thing and THOR at the same time in hand to hand combat.

Mar-Vell....good luck casting him, because I honestly don't know who could play the role especially after he gains Cosmic Awareness and becomes the Protector of the Universe. He should be pivotal in the fight against Thanos, which was his destined purpose as the Protector and it was Mar-Vell that stopped Thanos the first time.

Still, IF Thanos were to be used they'd pretty much have to bring in one of the above mentioned characters, preferably Mar-Vell. Heh, if Mar-Vell does appear in a movie and the movie is a hit and Mar-Vell is portrayed correctly perhaps Marvel Comics will finally develop enough of a backbone to bring him back for good in the comics.
Whedon has said he'd like to actually go smaller for the next Avengers movie. Not sure if he's signed up for the next one, but if this is the case, we probably won't see Thanos until the third one. If they do go smaller, I'm hoping for Ultron or the Masters of Evil.

Or it could just be a really cool, glowing staff.
But it does fit with Loki snagging an already-made army, one which bows to the wielder of a specific weapon.

I don't doubt that the Cosmic Cube will come into play (perhaps the Avengers will attempt to use it against the Cosmic Control Rod?), but to have Loki wield it as just a big energy gun and nothing more would be lame since we already saw Red Skull underperform with it. And if he does use the Cosmic Cube to essentially dominate a dimension worth of life and sic them on Earth, thereby using the reality warping properties in one instance and not the other (to simply take over or destroy without all the fuss), it'll be equally lame if not more so.

Looks more like the Cosmic Control Rod here:

Cosmic Cubes could even become sentient, but, as with the Mind Gem, having this as his power source would eliminate the need for Loki to take Earth by force or even tolerate opposition.

    You mean all these?

It sure does look like the Cosmic Cube there, but in all of the trailers it looks more like an oval shape than a cube, so the toys could be misleading. After all, there were Titanium Man figures made for the Iron Man 2 line and he wasn't in the movie.

I believe Whedon has said it's not the Skrulls or the Kree, and it's a threat we've seen in the comics before so it's not something new for the movie.

Some have theorized it's the Korbinites (Beta Ray Bill's people), the Sons of Muspell (who attacked Earth during the Surtur Saga of Simonson's Thor run), and the Badoon.

I'm going with the Annihilation Wave from the Negative Zone because:
    1. The Negative Zone is one of the obvious places Loki could've ended up after falling off the Bifrost Bridge.
    2. The chitin style of the army and their ships is in line with the Annihilation Wave.
    3. In all of the trailers, Loki is carrying around a staff with a big pill-looking device as a power source, which resembles the Cosmic Control Rod (save for being blue instead of yellow), the weapon of Annihilus, ruler of the Neagtive Zone.
    4. It can't be the Korbinites because they're a peaceful race and the only one that resembles how the army appears in the trailer is Beta Ray Bill, and that's after extensive modifications made to his physiology when his people made him in their protector. Plus, Beta Ray Bill has the notable ability to lift Mjolnir, which is a moment they'd be saving for Cap.
    5. It's not the Sons of Muspell because they attacked the Earth during the Surtur Saga, one of the most significant arcs of Thor's own series, so this is something undoubtedly reserved for Thor's film franchise.

Because the Cosmic Control Rod is blue instead of yellow, I'd also thought perhaps it might be the Mind Gem, which would tie into the rumored Thanos cameo. This would also explain how he gains the allegiance of an army so quickly. However, if it were the Mind Gem, Loki would simply be able to take control over the Avengers and the populace of Earth as opposed to attacking them.

If Thanos is involved, perhaps he helps Loki usurp Annihilus and, while Loki is busy getting revenge on his brother by attacking Midgard, Thanos can take the Cosmic Cube while everyone is fighting off the invasion.
  14. Also, is it possible Cap will adopt scalemail and physical wings on his helmet after wielding Mjolnir? Hmm...
  15. All these sites are coming out with articles speculating and asking the fans who they think the army is. I think it's become pretty obvious that it's the Annihilation Wave, what with the chitin style of the army and ships and Loki sporting the Cosmic Control Rod in that staff he's carrying around now.
  16. Just got back from it. It covered what it needed to cover, but I thought certain moments lacked emotional punch and the plot progression could have been a little more smooth. Then again, you can say that about most adaptations, and when you can come out of it and can't bring yourself to say it was actually bad, then it puts it above most adaptations.

I blame LOTR for setting the adaptation bar so high. >.>
  17. The notion of throwing second-class citizens into a death arena isn't all that unique. Let's see, there's Running Man, Death Race, Hunger Games, Battle Royale, and what else? Not to mention the actual battle royales that would take place at least a century back where they would take black kids, blindfold them, then toss them into a pit, force them to fight, and bet to see who comes out on top.

  19. Okay here's my screen cap analysis.

    POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

So here we see what looks like an UFO hovering above a waterfall. Could this be on Earth? The UFO doesn't look like the C-shaped craft we've seen in the Alien films and the Prometheus trailers. Also, it's possible this is on the planet our explorers land on because . . .

The planet has snow on the mountains, so waterfalls aren't out of the question.

It seems like in this film we're having the Prometheus crew fearing infection from some kind of entity or virus instead of a more apparent physical threat like a xenomorph. Here we see someone clearly infected standing at the previously shown waterfall. However, there's no UFO on the other side of the waterfall, so maybe they're standing below it or the whole waterfall/UFO/infection scene we're shown is a flashback.

Here's a look at the statue/pod chamber from a different angle than we've seen. The pods obviously resemble the xeno eggs, though they're less organic and slimey.

Here the crew is exploring some tunnels, but are they in the halls of the C-shaped ship? Or some other ruins? Also, notice that there appear to be a heap of humanoid bodies on the left hand side.

This is what Shaw (Noomi Rapace's character) is looking at when we hear her say, "They're changing." But is this audio taken from another scene and spliced into what we're seeing just for the trailer, or is she referring to some kind of mural on the ceiling that is, in fact, changing? If so, perhaps she's watching some kind of shifting carving that goes from human . . .

    . . . to this?

Are these (what appear to be shifting rock-looking sacks) the xenomorphs' "small beginnings?"

    And are these evolving/growing xenomorphs?

Here we see Fassbender's character activate some kind of holographic map, but take note of the chamber he's in.

Basically just included this shot of the expanded holo-map because it looks cool. >.>

Ahem, however, you can also see what look like planet systems and bits of the alien writing on them. Is it just me or does the alien language look a bit similar to the language of the Predators?

Space Jockey in his nude glory.

Remember the holo map chamber layout? Four horizontal pods and a small control area on the floor? Looks like it's the Space Jockey's chamber, and here we see him without his suit.

This shot shows more of the parasite being removed from one of the crew. Looks to have more appendages than assumed. Still does not resemble a face-hugger, however.

In the trailer it looks like the Prometheus crew is going to be a race against time with the C-shaped craft looking to take off and head for Earth. Looks like they decide to crash into it to stop it.

Here we see the alien craft falling, but no sign of the Prometheus ship. So is this an explosion caused a little bit after the collision? Perhaps by someone who stayed on the C-shaped craft and sabotaged it? Or is this right after the collision and Prometheus gets disintegrated, explaining why Ripley's crew and Newt's folks only ever saw the alien ship and not Prometheus wreckage as well?

Here's the Space Jockey's suit retracting. It seems obvious now that the elephantine head was just a helmet and what we see walking around in other bits of the trailer is the pilot. Still, if the Space Jockey was there the whole time, does this mean the suit he's in was actually like a stasis pod similar to the stasis tech humans have developed by this point? Or is the trailer reversing the footage and instead of getting out of the suit, he's getting in? Possibly because he's activating the stasis in hopes of avoiding his chest-bursting fate?

There looks to be a faceoff between Shaw and the Space Jockey. Here you can see more of Space Jockey's design, clearly in the vein of H.R. Giger's style.

Here's Shaw in a Ripley/Leeloo-esque bikini, covered in some kind of substance. Possibly the blood of an infected crew member or maybe even the blood of the Space Jockey, proving she gets the better of him, though in the shots of the confrontation she's wearing her spacesuit, which wouldn't allow the splatter to reach all those areas.

  20. Tell me this isn't an Alien:

And a possible variant of a facehugger here, but it doesn't look like one I've seen before:

  21. Here's the full trailer via youtube so you don't hafta watch that damn extreme sports ad every time.
