"Sir! A black hole has just opened up next to the ship!"
"You think that's bad? Remember the time ..."
I'll leave it to you fine people to complete the line. -
Also, I wonder if they'll work in heat vision shaving. That'd be a nice touch.

New set shots of Superman bearded and shirtless
It's interesting that he'll be sporting a beard in this movie; perhaps this means he'll get stuck in the Phantom Zone or on an alien planet for a chunk of the movie? If he does get stranded in the Phantom Zone, that could mean they're taking elements from the Last Son arc, which was what I thought Superman Returns should have been.
*EDIT*
It was supposed to be "Smell Like," but I haven't had my nourishment today. -
That's really weird. Are you sure you have instant streaming as part of your plan? I've always had it as part of mine so I don't know if those who are DVD-only don't have it, but even though I'm streaming-only now I can still view titles that are exclusively disc-based.
-
When you're logged into the Netflix website, just go to the tab that says Watch Instantly if you're not already on it, then it should let you see everything that's available for stream viewing. If you see something you want on your Instant Queue, let your cursor hover over the thumbnail image until another window containing the title's details shows up, and you'll see a link on the lower right-hand corner that says + Instant Queue. Click on that and it'll be added to your queue.
-
Quote:An "Add to Queue" option should show up along with the main options when you select a title. If it doesn't, just log on to your account through the Netflix website and add titles to your instant queue that way; it's faster this way anyway.I have a Netflix question, actually.
I recently took the free trial through my PS3, as did my nephew. On his version, they offer the ability to put movies in a queue to watch later. I do not have that option. At first I thought it was ecause I as on the free trial and he is now paid, but yesterday I renewed as a paid user, but there is still no queue. Not a major thing, but I am curious.
As it stands now, I have to start to watch something for a few seconds so it appears in my "Recently Watched" list so that I can come back to it later. -
Y'know, with vibranium's properties and all, has anyone ever tried taking on Sebastian Shaw or someone with similar powers with it?

Quote:Not to mention when he inevitably gets smacked down in giant form, he always crushes a building.I really don't know why Pym bothers with his Giant Man sizes any more, at least when facing opponents other than low level mooks.
Every time he's used them, his modus operandi is to just smack a giant hand down on his opponent. But most of the time his opponent seems to be either STILL stronger than him, or has massive fighting skill. So Pym ends up getting the crap beat out of him.
The only time he seems to win, really, is when he goes Ant-man and does something scientific on a micro-scale that incapacitates his opponent.
In short, he should really stop trying to be a brawler. He's not good at it.

Quote:I thought it went without saying that Window and Hawkeye would see Cap a bit differently.Actually, I would think BW and Hawkeye wouldn't look at Cap that way at all. Now, they may see him as out of touch with today, but not as an undisciplined freak.
I think Ultimate Avengers (animated movie) showed best how I think BW would treat Cap, and it's not as a freak, but as a good soldier and leader.
However, the team is filled with large egos. Tony is obvious. Thor is a god. Even Banner is a genius (but even he has reason to worry about SHIELD, as they have no real reason to want to cure him, and in fact, in the past movies have wanted to capture and basically make more of him).
And like you said they could see him as out of touch, but just how far does that go? If Cap refuses to kill these days will that affect their view of him? And what if Cap harbors trust issues against SHIELD or Fury, leading to a break from government control? -
Quote:Written correctly, would they have any effect on their team building at all, though? Since they're SHIELD agents, chances are they'll view the rest of the team as an undisciplined band of freaks, while the others look at them as Fury's stooges. If Cap, Tony, and Thor have enough of hard time respecting and being willing to follow each other, I think it'd ring false if they looked to Black Widow and Hawkeye and fall in line just because they're doing the same.I've seen some speculation around the Interwebz about Black Widow and Hawkeye. Mainly around what will they bring to the table relative to their super-powered teammates, with respect to the versions of all these characters as shown in this series of movies.
In my opinon, what they will bring is 'team'. They're modern, covert paramilitary agents used to working together and with others. Written correctly, they would be the support inside the team to keep the over-the-top egos, the culture-shock victims, and the mentally-unstable powerhouses pointed in generally the right direction as much as humanly possible. Basically they will be able to demonstrate the value of teamwork directly and viscerally to the rest of them. -
Man of Steel doesn't come out until 2013, apparently because WB doesn't want another of their superhero movies diluting their box office take in summer 2012 and they don't want to compete with The Hobbit in winter 2012. It's filming at the same time as The Avengers too, so Man of Steel better have the best of everything that goes into post-production ever.

The reason I think his assessment has elements of the latter is because in the trailer you can see Loki catching Tony outside of his suit and chucking him out of a window. Also, I have a suspicion that if there's a team training sequence Tony may blow it off in the manner Batman did in JLU.
-
I could understand them calling Iron Man, Thor, and Green Lantern B-list by average person on the streets standards, but if they're managing a list like this, they probably shouldn't use those standards. >.>

But will they race on the beach wearing muscle shirts and short shorts, culminating in an extremely intimate yet heterosexual embrace?
-
Durakken I'm going to have to ask you to refrain from bringing your patented black hole of wrongness and crazy into my thread.
-
Oh, and if I was Marvel, I might've held onto the Hulk reveal just a little while longer, just until right after WB released a full Dark Knight Rises trailer, just to screw with them.
-
Quote:It's possible, but I doubt it. Thor already pledged an alliance to SHIELD provided they returned everything to Jane Foster. It may depend more on the circumstances of Thor's return: Will Jane find a way to bring him back? Will Odin repair the Bifrost Bridge? Will Loki's emergence on Earth lure Thor in? Or a combination of these things?I'm guessing Nick Fury sends Cap to bring in Thor when he first reappears on Earth.
In any case, I think if they're going to have the team needing to fight one of the members to bring them in, they'll save that for Hulk. -
Thoughts:
- Wondering what exactly Loki's motivation is for going on the offensive on this scale; I'd imagine Whedon will give him more to work with than merely his villain status.
- To most folks it's going to look like Loki taking on the entire planet and somehow being a threat, even though Thor beat him by himself, but the movie's still more than 6 months away from release, so they're undoubtedly going to add the secondary (or main, depending on how you look at it) threat in those traveling explosion shots.
- Tony does come off a bit dickish in this trailer, but perhaps he's bitter since, according to Iron Man 2, he's not actually on the team.
- It's obvious the bulk of the effects shots aren't done, but the ones they included were nice.
- Not liking Thor's hair, which I hope isn't an indicator of overall quality like it was with X-Men 3 (it sounds silly but it's true!)
- Speaking of Thor, I wish we'll see him in some flying shots, so it's clear that Iron Man isn't the only flyer on the team; also, for epicness.
- Cap getting in Iron Man's face may appear to be conflict within the team for its own sake, but I have a feeling it's part of Cap trying to get them to work as a unit and perhaps criticizing Tony for his lack of fighting ability outside the suit.
- Does Thor attack Cap during a training sequence? Is he being mind-controlled? Is one of them part of the rumored shape-shifting army?
- Looks like Tony's vulnerability outside the suit will come into play for at least one scene, with Loki tossing him out of a window.
- It appears the non-powered members will be getting their own triumphant moments, at least, as they should.
- Cap's suit does look a bit better in motion, and it seems they'll go the Spider-Man route with his face exposed for a good portion, which could reflect them realizing the helmet doesn't look as well as they hoped.
- Again, Tony might sound douchey at the end when he's talking to Banner, but I think he might be making light of the fact that SHIELD is more interested in the Hulk than him.
- Finally, the reveal of this incarnation of Hulk shows they aren't ******* around when it comes to his CGI. Nice!

Quote:Question #1: does it count as competing if it's a F2P or otherwise freely available game?Hi folks, allow me to clarify some things on this rule. The rule can be boiled down very simply to:
No dedicated discussion of games outside of City of Heroes, and limited discussion of other NCsoft games.
What does "dedicated discussion" mean? This means that threads created specifically for discussing another game are prohibited; e.g., "New Game X comes out this fall," "General MMO/RTS/FPS/insert genre here thread," "How do I beat the boss in X game," etc. Dedicated discussion also includes lengthy discussions of another game in unrelated threads.
Other games can be mentioned in passing provided they are not competing products. In addition, comparing/constrasting any game(s) with City of Heroes is prohibited.
Basically the rule has been modified to allow players to mention other games, so long as they do not discuss them. So you can make a reference to game X, or say you're playing game Y, as long as you don't go into lengthy discussion and/or create a thread specifically about it.
Hope that clears everything up!
Question #2: how broad a definition are you using for "game?" As in, are cell phone games included in that? Board games? Etc. -
The good news is that the eye ball is back in its socket. The bad news, well, see for yourself.

Gonna see this tomorrow. Hopefully I'll enjoy it.
