No, it's the actual sounds that doors make when they're opened. They are now different.

The patch notes for Dominator changes are wrong too. The updates from 6/16 are live but not reflected in the notes.

There will definitely be a free respec with this issue. That's why they made the announcement on Friday to use any previous free respecs you may have had.

Whether the freespec is given today or at some point within the next week or so remains to be seen.

Alrighty, finally patched and got in, and I can verify the Dominator patch notes are wrong. The changes from 6/16 are indeed on live.

Something important to remember throughout the game, especially for "Defeat 10 [enemy type]" missions!

There is a little button on your mission compass that will bring up a window with the mission briefing in it. Your contact will often give you helpful information that you might miss at first glance.

It is very likely that your contact said something like, "Check Industrial Avenue and the King Garment District"! Your map will show you where these neighborhoods are.

When I'm not sure where to look, I always check the mission briefing first thing. It usually gives me solid direction.

While this might work in a pinch, I've found such information is often not all that great. These "hints" will often send you much further than necessary and will often pit you against foes that are much higher in level than you.

I've found the map overlays at vidiotmaps.com to be very helpful. They show which factions spawn where as well as their respective levels.

The GTS250 is a rebadged 9800GTX, so it makes sense.

I think it has more to do with the decline of OpenGL as a gaming platform than anything else. The vast majority of games today are Direct3D. As the number of OpenGL games continue to decline so will driver support.

A newb is a new player. Being aware that they don't know much about the game a newb will ask questions and listen to the answer.

A n00b, on the other hand, may or may not be a new player. The one thing they all have in common is they are absolutely convinced they know everything about the game and that everyone else is wrong.

Interestingly enough, n00bs are the people most often seen calling people n00bs.

My favorite place to find Lost in KR is along the northern edge on the NE corner of the map, the shorter side of the zone, just west of the smoke stacks. These should be around level 7. If you go up to the very top of the zone they are typically level 9s.

And again I find myself the voice of dissent -- I never take Mesmerize or Mass Hypnosis. I don't need them to solo and on a decent team there is far too much AoE damage for them to be useful.

But... not all sleeps are created equal. Some do damage, some have nice debuffs, so they have an advantage over the sleeps in Mind Control which sadly have neither.

Using TK is very similar to using knockback powers. It's all about timing, angles, and knowing when NOT to use it. And yes, it's an end hog. Some people love it, some hate it. I'd say you should try it for yourself (on the test server for example) and see if it works for you.

I don't mind Total Domination or any of the other AoE holds Doms get. Agreed they are only good in a pinch, but it's nice to have when you need it. If you're going for massive amounts of recharge it comes back pretty quickly.

Confuse has many uses, even with the upcoming patch. Besides the obvious soft control it's great for using buffing/debuffing foes to your advantage, as once they are confused they will buff you and debuff critters. Remember, their buffs and debuffs are significantly stronger than ours. And let's face it, nothing better than confusing a nasty boss and watching them lay waste to their buddies.

Just my 2 cents. YMMV.

My server box has a 1.8 GHz single core Sempron paired with an AGP GF 6600GT that I bought used for $20, and it actually plays pretty well. Obviously I can't max everything out, but even on medium settings it's quite playable. Keeping antialiasing and anisotropic filtering off and the particle count low (like around 5000) are the big keys to getting decent performance.

One big advantage to getting an add-in card (besides the enhanced visuals) is the onboard memory. My 6600GT has 256 MBs, which is a whole lot more than his 32MBs, which is most likely system memory.

Glad I could help. Y'know, you really should consider getting a dedicated video card. I know your system is old, I get that, but even a $40 card is going to run circles around what you have now. The GF 4 MX is very limited in what it can do, and there is so much you're not getting to see because of it. It's literally like night and day.

Your log above says you're using 93.71, from 2006. I checked and it is indeed the latest driver for your card.

It's going back a few years, but I remember having all sorts of problems with the 9x.xx series of Nvidia drivers. The 8x.xx series worked much better.

Why can't you go into safe mode? What happens when you try?

To go back to an older driver it's best to uninstall the current driver, use driver sweeper, reboot, and then install the older driver.

I just looked over your logs and saw these:

Water Effects: High Quality
Bloom: 1.000 (turned on)
Depth of Field Enabled: Yes
Desaturation Effects (Sepia) Enabled: Yes
Shader Detail: Unknown (3)

I'm betting it's a shader issue since you have a very old graphics chip. Set the Advanced Graphics to on, and set Water Effects to none, Bloom, Depth of Field, and Desaturation to off, and Shader Detail to lowest.

See if that works. Alternatively I would try starting the game in safe mode (there is a checkbox for it when you launch the updater) and seeing if that works.

If you still get a black screen then yes, roll back to an older driver.
