  1. Fixed that. But you already know about the problems I have typing. I type too fast and my brain doesn't catch in the double check.

Yes it is from the Partners Statue at Disney World, where I go yearly. My niece calls it "Mickey Mouse with some guy" sigh.

Drake is probably one of my favorite paintings I've done.
I consider my style to be realist minimalism with a sense of humor. I don't like making art with a deep meaning.

In regards to my Kotex series a lot of people think the work is feminist but it's not. I just think old menstrual paraphernalia (the name of the series in fact) is funny. The way it is designed to appeal to women in a time when these vending machines were new, nowadays all bathroom machines are the same, the only difference is a decal, but these were crafted to get women to trust buying protection from a box in a toilet without being embarrassed. I mean look at that box... My first degree is in commercial art so those things appeal to me I guess. The package design on those things in general is ridiculous to me. Flowers and soft wavy lines. You're buying comfort, can't you tell?
    Ack I've rambled!
Not sure if I mentioned it before but I have a BA in drawing, another BA in Art Education with a concentration in painting and an AAS in Commercial Art
I want to get a MFA in painting but can't atm
    So for now I teach

This is what I meant by how I paint for real you can see the way I work with colors in blending the same between her and this painting, though this is more realistic

  6. Touch of the Nictus IO eh?

    An indirect sequel to Nictus-O's
  7. For a long time this has been THE BOOK when it comes to figure drawing. I have never met a figure artist who doesn't reference this book when discussing sources. I would even go so far to say that many see it as the Bible of figure books. It has been out of print for YEARS but it was recently announced that it is being reprinted, finally. I know I'll be ordering a copy asap, it's available for preorder now.
But I have also found it online though I find there's no beating a book in hand.

Be ye warned, nudity is in the book but as it is a figure drawing book...well duh.
Anyway I was just thinking about it and thought I'd post about it.
  8. hah in addition I finished this

    Merry xmas CoXers

Edit: I feel like I should point out that she's not normally the type to dot her i's with hearts, but the sentiment of the occasion seemed to call for it.
  16. her name is A'reena and she is...very worldly I guess is a good way to put it. She sells fantasies? She's a working girl who also makes jewelry. She is a fan character for a webcomic I read.
  17. ok I can talk a bit more now. Spent a long time installing and such then played for a bit, then played CoH, then got down to the nitty gritty. I am an oil painter so yeah sketching is a big deal for me with this but I wanted to see how it would handle me being able to color with fluidity.
I was nervous that drawing or painting on it would require me to do some adjusting, like it did on the graphire. My brain told me there would have to be tricks to it. Well I picked it up and from the first stroke till the last tonight it was completely intuitive. Like a duck takes to water. It was a perfect blend of what I already know, smooth clean digital mixed with natural organic strokes. I feel like there was a significant increase in quality to my mark making. I know that before I would get tired of working on a piece and sacrifice detail to just get it done. I am convinced it was a sort of fatigue. I would be just exhausted from my brain working over time to connect the dots.
Well I was having fun! REAL FUN! The sheer joy of what my hands wanted coming out of the "end of the pen" as it were. But I had the freedom of the digital process...oh that was wrong. Undo. Oop that's too small/big. Resize it and keep going. I don't want to screw that up. Make a different layer.
Honestly I am in honeymoon phase. I'm sure I'll be swearing at it in a week or so but right now it's the most perfect thing that ever perfected perfect!
Started painting on that sketch btw:
  18. she's a fantasy ethnicity

    And the cintiq is awesome

  19. out for delivery!!!!!!
I drew this last night, it's not CoH, but I did it on my old Graphire 3 because I am so excited about the Cintiq. I don't normally draw only on tablet because since I'm traditionally trained it's very hard for me to keep things consistent because I'm not watching my hand make my lines, I have to look up at a screen while I draw in my lap. All this will change any minute now!
