However, I am being selfish so far and demanding one of the two characters be mine.
(I may spring for an extra character or two if the entry is THAT good but since it means extra money, entry really would need to be far and away better...)

Agreed, nothing wrong with style at all and some very tough competition...
If there was any "issue" at all with the piece for me personally it was that it didn't scream CoH... At first look I missed it was a CoH piece altogether, then when I saw it was Statesman I gave a secong look and the design on bag and such became apparent. It's tough, what with the theme being Off Duty, but I personally still want to see an immediate and obvious CoH hook... Be it costume pieces, backgrounds, whatever... -

Saw that and raised an eyebrow...
But I've had no personal dealings and have no first hand knowledge so *shrug*. Personally I try not to talk smack about any artist. Even those on my personal "been ripped off by" list I try to do no more than maintain the list. If others want to take my experience into account, fine. If not, so be it.
Besides, this could be a long overdue piece or she may have a prior relationship with them... -
