Thanks!

Updated! Now with a bit of transition between the pictures. It boosted the image size to 122kb (yeah, micro time even on dialup).

You might have to refresh your browser to see it (hold the shift or control key and "refresh"), as I just replaced the previous animated version.

Very nice compilation of them, SG. And Blue Steel, definitely don't take my comment as disgruntlement or anything negative, it was just a comment to show that great minds think alike!

Well, I'll say it was not an easy choice, but we do have a winner.

gec72 Blue Shield is the winner. It's simple and to the point while being stylish and bold. It's the winner.

I'd like to personally thank everyone that put time and energy into this. I'd like to Give shout outs to the following people and there contribution.

MCG_Warface Kylies Blue Steel

Projectionist Chibi Blue Steel

Assisace Blue Steel

LadyJudgement Amazing Blue Steel

Apocrypha The first submission.

Now If I can figure out how to make a rotating avatar that uses all these, I'll be extra happy.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have to admit, I really like the Chibi one. And Apocrypha's is almost identical to the one I submitted on the first page (mine wasn't quite as zoomed in, but same image from the comic).

Inspiration Conversion: Right click an inspiration to convert three of that kind into any one inspiration of another kind.

[/ QUOTE ]

I like this. This seems like a very powerful change to the game play. I can think of many ways how this will effect my powerpool choices. Maybe I can bypass Stamina now since I might be able to constantly maintain a tray full of tier 3 blues.

[/ QUOTE ]
The conversion will not give you tier 3 inspirations, just tier 1. This was confirmed by pohsyb. No "upgrading" occurs.

[/ QUOTE ]

No upgrading, sure. But if you keep getting tier 3 oranges and you only want tier 3 blues, then feel free to convert those tier 3 oranges to tier 3 blues to your hearts content. At least that's how I read it.
4. I'm no artist, so I just grabbed an image from comic 12.

I wouldn't say it's a unique fan made avatar though. But it's what I got.

Ok, admit it, who went out and spent the $10 as soon as they got the email?

I know I did... >.>

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't get the email yet, but I saw the announcement on the forums, and yeah, I went and spent the $10 immediately. And I was especially glad I did once I saw Mantid's post in this thread with the screenshot of the costumes.

I won't get home from work in time for this!

Have fun to all attendees!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Read the announcement. It's doing to be repeated every 3 hours. It's not a one time event.

[/ QUOTE ]

Technically it says "Beginning at 3:00PM PST (6:00 PM EST) on the Training Room, and repeating for the next 3 hours, we will present the wedding ceremony live."

The for seems to imply that it will repeat only for 3 hours, and thus end at 6pm PST. Unless you're reading a different announcement.

Edit: Looks like CaptainMoodswing beat me to it.

Don't the city terminals give you some kind of info like that? Or maybe it was clicking on NPCs whose names were a certain letter. Something like that.

[/ QUOTE ]

That just gives the number of hours you've been playing (citizens that start with the letter M). What Posi mentioned was more detailed and ultimately more useful. If it doesn't get added, no big deal, but it'd be kind of nice given all the other fun numbers we have access to now.

The one thing I question tho, he said they datamined how long characters were at certain levels. Could this info have been skewed by alt-itis? I know when I hit 22-27 range, I usually start another alt and run them for a while. Or even partake in a FOTM build.

[/ QUOTE ]

We have a "life at level" stat in seconds. This is how long a character spent at a particular level, logged in. While not a perfect indicator of levelling speed, it's an excellent starting point.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't suppose that the "life at level" stat could be added to the Attribute Monitor at some point? That could be a handy reference.

Just two thoughts.

In my extremely humble opinion, San Jose is slightly preferable to San Francisco due to easier parking. This is based on living in the City for four years or so, in the early 1990's.

[/ QUOTE ]

My sentiments as well. I try to avoid the City as much as humanly possible for just that reason.

You know, I wish more folks could turn what might be viewed as a negative experience into a positive one. The world would be a happier place.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree as well. It's just unfortunate that some members of our lil community will only use this as ammunition. =\

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah. Some people just like to complain no matter what. I work with someone like that. Just today he was complaining about wanting to do something. So maybe an hour later we told everyone that we'd be doing that for the rest of the day. And of course, the first thing he does is complain about having to do that.

What if it wasn't a matter of "just" a mutation? What if when he mutated himself, what actually happened was that it opened a gate to the Elder God Hamidon who then uses his body as a way into our world? What if this Elder God consumed the scientist's body in such a way so as to not require the scientist's actual body to reform here, which would explain the lack of such a body each time the Hamidon is defeated, or assuming this, repulsed from this dimension?

It's possible there is more to this than we currently know.

[/ QUOTE ]

I like the theory, but the fact that the scientist's name was Hamidon Pasalima before his transformation is a bit problimatic.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, consider that usually Elder Gods actual names are frequently quite unpronounceable to us so we had to "name" that Elder God with the name of the person who released it!

About the 50 people per zone/75 members for SG thing...do you honestly know of any supergroups that have upwards of 50 level 45-50 characters that are interested in doing Hami raids? I think it'll be just fine.

QFT. All of the groups I'm in (and a number of them are actually full up) only have a few 50's if that.

City of Heroes / City of Villains: Redesigning the “Hamidon”
By Christopher Bruce, Cryptic Developer

[/ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I actually found it a little annoying that one of the Devs knows so little about the game (even if he were trying to use "elder god" in a figurative sense) that he referred to defeating Hammi as sending it (him) back to the dimension from which he came.

Duh, read through a story arc of the game you code for once in a while.

It just looks bad to me. Cryptic's own developers (at least this one) know very little about the background of something that they are writing an article on... one that said dev knows full well is going to get published online and read by actual players.

I mean, come on, spend the 1-2 minutes it'll take to skim through the text of the arc and find the part about Hamidon being a scientist who mutated himself.

Along this line... What can you tell us about the various +Stealth IOs from the Travel Sets?

Specifically, can they be slotted in passive powers? If so, how is this going to interact with NPC hostages and such that won't interact with a stealthed character?

[/ QUOTE ]

Currently:
<ul type="square">[*]They can be slotted into passive movement powers.[*]You can have one of each type on your character for some massive bonuses.[*]Escort NPCs will not follow you if these are slotted on your characters.
Now, before the uproar starts, I have to say that unless we find a satisfactory solution for the last item on the list, these IO's have a high probability of being cut before reaching the live servers. Even if that problem is solved, it is still unlikely that you will be able to slot all 4 versions in a single character -- either that, or the stealth aspect will be reduced greatly.

[/ QUOTE ]

Some options for the escorts:
<ul type="square">[*] Have stealth suppression when someone is following you. (this is my preferred option, especially if there is a "stop following me" command you can give them so that they can switch to following someone else if you need the stealth. Mind you, this one also only works if the +Stealth from these IO's is suppressed when you attack, which I'm assuming it is)[*] Have escortees have a large +Perception aura around them that affects them and possibly (probably?) enemies as well. (This is my secondary preferred option, particularly if the aura affects enemies. Reason being hostages aren't exactly known to be stealthy, so they can easily give away your position.)[*] Give the escortees an absurdly huge level of Perception, not as an aura.[*] Disallow them from being slotted into passives, and have them be duration based like the pet auras were originally intended to be when slotted into clicks.
And for the record, I personally wouldn't mind either making them Unique (so you can't slot each type) or reduce the amount of the +Stealth buff greatly. Preferably, in my opinion, I'd like them Unique.

Yeah, I must agree with that. It does seem odd that they're wielding the Void Hunter rifles so frequently. Maybe it's a subtle hint that there's more to them than they're telling us right now. Maybe the Knives are involved in some way with the Void Hunters and Quantums. Or maybe they just used some screenshots that ultimately weren't as appropriate as they could have been.

[/ QUOTE ]

Or maybe the Kheldian in Lighthouse just drew out the Quantum in the sisterhood.

Yeah, that'd do it.

Nice guide. Consumed virtual seconds is a useful tool indeed.

It's worth noting (if you did, I didn't notice) that some of the really long recharge powers (which frankly, are what we worry about most), may well have recharges close to 232 seconds; which makes it feasible for them, at least, to assume a flat .36 recharge out of hasten. A convenient shortcut in the rare case its useful-- e.g., recharges on click accolades and perhaps, leaving long-recharge powers like EMP and controller AoE Holds unslotted or minimally slotted.

Even if you're close to 232 seconds, it can be a convenient kludge. If you have 1 recharge in a 240 second hold, for example, you know you'll burn at LEAST 68 real seconds at the increased recharge.

[/ QUOTE ]

My motivation for posting the guide was to lay out the basics of looking at recharge in potentially unconventional situations. That's why I didn't just say "this is 3-slot hasten, this is 3-slot dull pain with hasten" etc. My suspicion is that when I9 goes live, a lot more players are going to be experimenting with recharge, and asking questions like "can I get perma-DP back"? or "what's the best possible uptime for Elude?" or "if I slot up these IO sets in order to get these set recharge buffs, what does that do to hasten?" There's going to be a lot more "weird" recharge out there, and that will mean the "standard" speed questions might not be the norm anymore.

Hopefully, this guide will help a lot more players be able to figure their recharge questions out for themselves, and will allow more players to help more players that can't.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's already been asked. But well, you knew that since you posted in that thread. And I agree with the others. Very nice guide.

Player A1 puts up a Level 12 TO for 5,000,000 inf.

Player B1 puts up the same Level 12 TO for 1,000 inf.

Player A2 (trying to transfer funds) offers to buy that level 12 TO for 5,000,000 inf.

Since player B1 wants less, and is obviously trying to move his items faster, his "for sale" is processed first, so he ends up with 5,000,000 inf (minus fees).

[/ QUOTE ]

So you went with FFXI's system. A lot of mischief is possible there Positron. And unfairness.

Take out the transfer thing. Let's instead make this something that's being sold to be sold. Why does the person who's willing to pay 5 million have to pay 5 million? Why can't they get the benefit of the bargain?

Goodness, why not just use a real consignment system?

[/ QUOTE ]

Definitely. Why not make it so that if someone puts up the item for 100, and you offer 10000, you get it for the 100 that they were wanting for it.
23. And what makes you think that the devs' numbers aren't subject to change?

As for released information, the devs released information in the Prima Guide. Look at how reliable and trusted that was. Player-compiled information has always been rather accurate. And look at City of Data. The devs didn't release that, but it's accurate up to I7.

I'm all for the devs releasing actual numbers. Once it's been determined what those actual numbers will be. Until it has been thoroughly tested (not just by their internal QA, but by the multitudes on the test server), they won't have the actual numbers.

You know what smacks me in the face about that "Dev Diary"? The lack of numbers. We see a spreadsheet snapshot and think "ooh, raw information" but the relevant parts are missing! It's not really all that useful to know that a "Temporal Analyzer" is one of the components, but I think it's pretty important to know what the percentages on the enhancements are, don't you? Or the magnitude of those "additive HP"?

[/ QUOTE ]

Look on Paragon Wiki it is all there under the inventions section. Very easy to figure out the percentages.

[/ QUOTE ]

Or look at any number of posts in the Discussion of Issue 9's Invention Feature forum. There is a lot of numbers there too.
