  1. The girl looked at Thule, not sure what to say. If this was true... She looked up to the corner of the room, staring for a moment. The interrogator nodded, then looked back at Thule. "Hold still."

She placed both hands on his head, and a soft tingling sensation ran through his mind. This would be the ultimate test... There were a few moments of dead silence, then she let go.

"I'll... I'll have to check this with..." She shook her head. "I'm Pstorm." She undid Thule's restraints, then pointed him in the direction of the guards. "They'll lead you to Sybil. She'll want to talk to you personally..."

The soldiers led him out of the room, closing the door firmly behind them. "You did well, child," said Sybil as she stepped from the shadows.

"A traitor who survived? Is it possible?"

"Perhaps. I will question him myself to be sure. For now, you must rest."

Pstorm nodded, and began to head out of the room. She turned at the last moment and asked, "If he did turn, do you think he'll know anything about-"

"Now, now. All things in due time, child."
  2. "Escape? From what?" asked the girl, keeping both eyes locked on Thule's. He felt a small tingle in the back of his head as she increased the mental pressure on her 'lie detector.'
  3. Steve freed Windsong as Arrow and Soul Striker nabbed the civilians. Once they were free, an alarm blared. "Shouldn't be a problem with no guards left," said Steve, carrying her over his shoulder.

Arrow nodded, putting the civilian he rescued in the same position. "Cover us, Toy?" he said, walking towards the exit.

They headed out and rejoined the group. "Alright, let's get out of here. Keep a tight grip on Apex," Steve ordered, marching towards the way out.

As they did, androids teleported inside. Before a warning could go out, one took deadly aim on Apex, firing a laser burst that split the Master's skull clean open. A cry of "Tec-!" was all he got out before falling limply in Combat Toy's arms.

"[censored]!" shouted Steve, not sure what to do with an unconcious person on his back, and four shiny, deadly androids blocking their escape.

    I breath!

    ... O-okay. *Kick*
  5. Burning_Brawler_NA

    I breath!

H-Hermod? He lives? *pokes to make sure*
  6. Mini-Bot made it just outside the entrance before the small bomb exploded. It wasn't likely the brave robot survived. Either way, the door sure didn't, having caved in with the force of the blast.

    --------------

Apex's face twisted with anger as his attempt was foiled. "You are all fools!" He spat on Combat Toy, hoping to anger the robot. From what intelligence had told the Masters, the robot preferred violence.
  7. Steve nodded and stepped over to Windsong. He held out a hand to remove her restrains, then stopped. "Uuuhhh..."

Arrow raised an eyebrow. "Don't tell me you don't know how to take these things off..."

    "I... er-"

Sybil's voice all sounded in their minds at once. 'The energy cannot harm you as long as you remove the tendrils one at a time.'

Steve nodded and grabbed the first. He felt a twinge of sickness, but nothing he couldn't fight off. Unraveling the first on Windsong's arm was like untangling a piece of rope. It came away and hanged down limply.

Arrow watched, then moved to one of the civilians and began to do the same.
  8. The girl looked down at the small blade. "But you don't want to use it." This was a statement, not a question. If Thule wasn't already on guard, he might notice that he really didn't even like using the blade. "But you didn't really answer my question. I'll be more specific. Why were you watching them?"
  9. The girl stared at Thule for a moment as he was locked in. "I wouldn't try what you just thought, and my name isn't something you need to know."

She took a step closer, a bold move. However, she was confident that if Thule planned to make any false moves, she would know it. "I'll give you a chance to just tell the truth yourself. Why are you here?"

    ----------------

Apex looked out of the corner of his eye as the others ran to rescue the girl. He chuckled. They would kill him if he tried anything? He would die no matter what happened in these next few minutes. Either by their hand, or Elitist's.

Subtely, Apex held his hand against his thigh. From a hidden flap in his pant-leg, he removed a small orb. He let it drop, and as soon as it struck the ground, it began to beep rapidly. "You have three seconds... now."

    ---------------

Steve Power and the others were lucky that it had been dinner time when they moved in. The majority of the base's soldiers were all dealt with or in the process of. The patrols had moved in to assist Apex, and were now dead or scattered as well.

The cells weren't really 'cells' in the traditional sense. All along the walls were platforms with two pillars two-men tall. From the active ones, black energy came down and wrapped firmly around the ankles and wrists of their captives. Apex currently held three in this room. Two civilains, and Windsong.

"Get them down, I'll grab Wind," said Steve. But as he took a step closer, three turrets at the end of the room shot up from the ground. He barely had time to yell, "Get down!" before leaping away himself, the spray of bullets just missing him. "Someone fry those!" he shouted over the noise.

"Oh, and not that I'm not having fun here, but wasn't there another point to this than just general chaos...?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Steve cursed as he stopped. How could he forget the real point here?! "Alright, Cortianna, Vendetta, Arrow, come with me to find Windsong. The rest of you, finish off these guys and clear an exit path!"

Steve Power raced down another tunnel, watching the tracker to make sure he was headed in the direction of their holding cells.

    ***

Apex Twin grunted as Combat Toy grabbed him, struggling in the robot's grasp. "Killing me will only bring hell to your precious Resistance!"
  11. A lithe form slinked up behind Thule and cuffed him. She leaned her head over his shoulder and whispered, "There are several snipers hidden around the area. No... sudden... moves."

She stepped in front of him, giving a clear view of the purple and white striped outfit, complete with tail and cat ears. "Bring him down to a questioning cell, guys. I'll finish up with the supplies."

The men nodded and took places around Thule, though they didn't seem to happy about the position. The obvious leader of the group keyed in a security code on the panel set into the armor on his wrist, making sure to keep it away from Thule's eyes.

A small flash of light was all that was seen before they were teleported to what looked like an old series of caverns. All along the wall were what looked like Council cells. "You won't be going there yet. Luckily for you, she was just finishing an interrogation up now."

Several other soldiers were hauling a limp Mayhem elite away, his feet dragging along as they brought him to one of the cells, a hint he must still be alive.

They opened a reinforced iron door, revealing a darkened room. a cliche lone spotlight shone down on a metal chair with beeping wrist, ankle, and neck braces. Power dampeners to be exact.

They lead Thule to the chair with the intent of strapping him in. As they did, a girl no more than fifteen stepped into the light. Her long, black hair gleamed even in the dull light. Part of it covered her face, but didn't hide the look of hate she had in her eyes for anyone who worked for the Masters.
  12. The Resistance soldiers were just setting up the last few crates for teleport when the bushes near them flash-froze. One of them saw, and his eyes immediately narrowed. The soldier tapped his friend and pointed at the iced over area.

The other man nodded and followed, automatic weapon drawn. The first peeked over, and his eyes widened at the sight of a renowned Masters bounty hunter crouched there. He leapt back, calling out an alarm as the second raised his weapon to fire.
  13. Unfortunately, wounded as he was, Apex couldn't continue his run. The teleportation field was jamming his own device, as the sudden increase in unwanted intruders sent it into overdrive. A small security oversight that may now cost him his life.
  14. Well, in threads killing is what tends to happen, unless certain areas state otherwise.

As for in-game? Different characters have different styles. The game's lore says villains are defeated and teleported to the Zig (where they bust out two days later ). But my villian Blightlord would rather have another corpse to add to his army than send a perfectly good Longbow body off to an Arachnos cell.

On the other hand, my hero will typically send minor thugs off to jail. He doesn't run through Perez Park and slaughter everything in sight. He's arresting hordes of gangsters. But of course, larger threats such as arch-villains (player-made, RP-wise since Anti-Matter and others pop up repeatedly) he's aiming to make sure they never hurt the innocent again if they're really powerful.

Decide how your character feels about his enemies, and ask if he really would kill. Go from "What about Hellions? Vahz? Trolls? Tsoo? Family? Devouring Earth? Pantheon? Rikti? Malta? Carnies?" As you go up the threat scale, or undead vs. alien vs. human vs. monster, you might find your character has different opinions.

    Hope that helps!
  15. Throughout the world, Bounty Hunters and Elite soldiers were receiving the same message. "The following images and files being uploaded to your systems contain the image and data on your target. Thule must be brought in alive. I am placing utmost priority on his capture.

-Elitist, Master of Mayhem, Overlord of All Metas"
  16. Elitist watched Thule exit his chambers, seething inside. He activated his holopanel once more and continued to watch the battle between Apex and the Resistance, waiting to watch the entire complex self destruct.

He couldn't help but notice in their attempts to first destroy Apex, they hadn't rescued the girl yet. Elitist couldn't help but think how amusing it will be to watch their confusion as the doors sealed around them, and even if they could escape, must leave her to die.

You could also try the Legionnaires, although, I'm the leader of that group, so that's more of a shameless bump than anything else.

    Don't do it! It's a trap.

In all seirousness, SJS and BA are pretty well known RPSGs. I'd recomend them, pretty fun people.

I've held a few of them up in the D before. >.> Don't go drinking.

Curses, foiled again! And I would've gotten away with it too if it were for you meddling RPers, and your stupid zombies too!

  18. The soldiers around Psycho were frantically trying to remain out of his reach, firing at vulnerable areas.

The Heavy Assault soldier was pushing others out of his way as he moved in on the others. He let loose a feral growl and charged after those pursuing his leader, firing blasts of corrosive energy after the group.

Apex grunted as he was slowed by a cut that came across his leg, severing part of a very needed muscle. Now he couldn't even speed away once he was clear of the twisting walls.

A sudden slide-tackle from Striker sent him flailing backwards, already off-balance from his wound. Toy's forcefield hit him full on, sending the Master flying back into Combat Toy. But Apex was ready to return at least some of this pain.

As he flew towards the large robot, he held his arms in, then struck with the force of his strength and the speed of the bolt propelling him. The shockwave that would have shattered his arms was smoothly absorbed by the energy around his fists.

Unfortunately though, even if this attack was successful, he could no longer run from the rest of them.

    ***

Steve Power fought his way through the chaos to catch up to Apex, grabbing soldiers and skillfully hurling them out of his path. He broke through and ran to aid the fight.

Arrow was doing something similar, sending wide waves of arrows flying. Some of the soldier's armor sent the shots pinging away, which frustrated the archer. In the present, those arrowheads could pierce most any substance, but apparently things had improved here.

Still, he made his way out, and could soon get a shot in at Apex if necessary.
  19. The soldier looked up from his computer, watching Thule for a moment, seeming to take pleasure in making him wait. What was really happening was a DNA scan to prove his identity. A soft beep within his helmet told the soldier that the scans matched.

He nodded and gestured toward the hallway that would lead Thule to the elevators and bring him to Elitist.
  20. "Nonononononono!" the kamakaze soldier wailed as he was thrust back into his fellow soldiers. The explosion temporarily blinded anyone who looked into it.

Steve lurched forward, tackling one soldier. He twisted his arm, and it snapped. Another quick jerk of the broken arm brought the soldier into unconciousness.

Arrow took an entire handful of explosive rounds and grinned at the three soldiers who held their own weapons ready to fire.

He let them fly, and nearly shook the room. The soldiers were flung back into the cleverly placed trip mine against the wall, which they slid down. Another explosion finished them off.

Steve nodded in approval now that the room was clear of soldiers. "Quick, after Apex!" he shouted, racing down the hall. Arrow nodded and followed.

    ***

Apex twisted away from the attack, and merely was sliced across his front instead of fully impaled. He turned to his attackers and slammed his glowing fists directly at their heads.

Once more not one to wait to make sure the hit landed, he continued his escape, sighing as he wished he had trusted Tyrant enough to set up a better security system.
  21. The soldiers were fighting back as best they could, but the downside to these caverns was much of their support had been cut off. They were ill-prepared, divided, then conquered.

One was beginning to lose his control, and charged into the midst of the Resistance fighters, his mace overloading as he ran. If he made it, the explosion would be crippling.

Apex leapt about the room, his eyes locked straight onto his target as he made quick, far leaps from the smallest jutting piece of stone on the wall. He cast a quick glance back at the Jounin hot in pursuit.

The Master reached into his belt, drawing several shuriken. He tossed them behind, blindly, but it should distract them long enough not to go headfirst into the blinding powder he had left drifting in his place.

This attempt at evasion would certainly make it easier for Combat Toy to see him, however. Apex turned toward the big robot and grimaced, knowing things were about to get more out in the open if he didn't move quickly.

Apex waved a placating hand in front of the robot, then used him as a springboard to shoot out the door. The Master rolled to a halt and cast caltrops behind him in a small attempt to slow pursuers.

Between the distraction of the kamakaze soldier and the escaping Master, quick thing would have to be made.
  22. ((Alright, let's see what I can do here. All these bios are as of my latest story Worlds of Confusion, which you can read on these forums or at www.cohwritersguild.com.))

    Name: James Warrens
Alias: Burning Brawler ((Ignore the character list. This is an ooooooooold pic. Pre-I7.))

Burning Brawler has a long and complicated past, but the condensed version is handy.

When he was a child, the Reichsman attacked. The attack happened to be going through his neighborhood, devastating the area and killing everyone he knew. In the wreckage of his favorite place in town, the magic shop, he finds an ancient book with a blazing green fireball on the cover.

He opens it, and the book infuses him with the power of flame. At first, James uses these powers for the other side. He first steals to survive, but then continues on in his quest to get revenge on the one he ultimately deemed responsible for the loss of his family.

    Statesman.

Over time, he gains control of a promising group of rising villains called The Legion of the Black Flame. Years of planning led to an assault on City Hall. Burning and Statesman began a duel that was interrupted by the sudden attack of the Rikti.

The assault was forgotten in history, lost to the carnage of the Rikti War. During the war's course, Burning found himself in a difficult situation. He had a chance to take down the distracted Statesman, but instead assaulted one of their flying ships without back-up, abandoning his Legion to deal with the Freedom Phalanx and Rikti on their own.

He made it into the primary engine room and exploded in a burst of brilliant flame. The machine exploded as well, and the resulting burns charred his skin to blacker than the darkest night. His eyes were the only thing that did not survive. It was the brave actions of a budding heroine who saved his life, though she was quickly ended by the falling wreckage for her efforts.

Burning awoke, blind, in the hospital. Statesman was there by his bed for a brief moment to let him know what had happened, and to give him the chance to be a hero. Brawler accepted, and from that day on, fought for the right side.

With the aid of some other heroes, he learned a spell to give himself eyes of magic energy, much more powerful than normal eyes, and able to see in multiple forms of vision.

However, his record was not completely cleared. Other remembered he had once headed a villain organization. He had been an Arch-Villain. Crey took advantage of this distrust to create what became known as Project Heat Seeker.

This robot relentlessly sought to bring down Burning, and in the process created so much destruction and loss of innocents that is brought the hero to madenning rage. His bright red flames became a dark green and black. The burst he shot seemed to incinerate Seeker, and he wasn't seen again for many years, presumed dead. When asked about Seeker's destructive rampage, Crey claimed a corporate enemy had hacked the robots systems, damaging his identification of friendly and enemy targets.

When Seeker appeared again, it turned out the fiery assassin was not a robot, but a mutant in an augmenting suit. The mutant was none other than Heat Stroke, Burning's former lieutenant in the broken Legion that Stroke was now trying to return to its former glory.

With the aid of the supergroup Burning was a member of, The Buttkickers of the Fantastic, the Legion of the Black Flame was put down once more.

As of late, Burning's greatest nemesis is the villain Blightlord, whose relentless attacks on the hero and his family become more deadly each time.
  23. As soon as the numbers were dwindling in the control room, an explosion rocked the side wall. This was merely for effect, however, as they hidden doorway could open without the smoke bombs.

Another group of a dozen Mayhem soldiers streamed into the room, having been woken from the Barracks to help deal with the chaos inside. However, they weren't prepared for the sudden arrival of the bots.

When Combat Toy burst inside, Steve whirled around. "I told you not to call me that!" The moment of distraction was quickly taken advantage of as a club came down on top of his head. Power only stumbled a bit before whirling around and slamming his fist into the soldier's chest hard enough to dent the armor. "Don't tell me Sybil sent you. She said this was my mission." He ducked another swipe, then hit with an uppercut hard enough to send the helmet flying away, leaving the soldier's nose open for a finishing shot that sent him to the floor.

Arrow looked at the oncoming group of soldiers and cursed. He let another grenade-tipped round fly, purposely shooting just in front of them. The soldiers slowed, but after two seconds and the smoke had cleared, they resumed their charge, straight into a patch of time bombs and trip mines.

Half the group flew through the air, and were heavily damaged, the other six kept going strong, seeking to hold things down while the three remaining Elite soldiers fended off the attackers.

Lithanika had been unwise to leave herself open in such a way, and Apex Twin took this opportunity. The soft rush of air as his fists became wrapped with power was the only warning before he sprung into view, slamming them hard across her head and chest in a bone-smashing assassin's blow.

Not one to stand idley and make sure his kill stayed down, Apex threw down a smoke bomb, obscuring him as he retreated back into the darkness.

    ---------------------

The chaos outside the main chamber continued for a few more seconds before the soldiers noticed there were people in the room who didn't belong. The Heavy Assault soldier, a limp body in each hand, squinted as he made sure he wasn't seeing things.

He snarled, yelling "Get them!" as he tossed the bodies at Baalial. Another second and anger had switched targets. Their pent up frustration was now being unleashed against real foes.

Though the numbers had dropped severely, leaving only twenty where there had been forty concious, it was still not a pretty situation.

    -------------------

The Ruby Blade stood before Blightlord, waiting to hear what the necromancer thought about his findings. "We will do nothing, for now."

"Nothing? That doesn't seem wise. If they were to come after you-"

Blightlord chuckled, and the chuckle seemed to come not only from him, but the walls themselves, soft moans mixing in with the sound. "They would not dare. Not at this stage." Not when I am this close... "I will let Elitist know of your findings. You may continue doing whatever it is you do now that you have your brother's head on a platter."

Blade's eyes narrowed for a moment. It seemed as if he would take that as a challenge, but instead, nodded and left the room. He was sure Blightlord knew what he did now that his life's goal was accomplished, now that he had his hands stained with his brother's blood after so many years.

    Nothing.

    --------------------

A man in full, orange and steel-gray armor walked quickly threw the hall of the Tower of Mayhem. The Omega on his chest shone brightly even in the dim lights, but they did not last long. The bulbs shattered as he walked by, his excitement forming an electric field.

Doctor Con Vulse into Elitist's throne room, and bowed his head for a moment. Just then all the lights in the room went out, and the Masters leader growled. "The Resistance is attacking Apex Twin's base,” he said, speaking in an obviously fake German accent.

Elitist sighed. He had told Apex to move Windsong to a more secure location, but the assassin insisted that she would be easily handed there. More likely, he simply didn't want to give her over to Harlequin for 'mental examination.'

"How long do we have, Vulse?" he asked, already certain of the answer.

“There may not even be enough time,” he said. “I mobilized a squad of Elites to aid him, but from the security vids I’m receiving, things aren’t going well.”

“Where in the compound are they now?”

“When last I checked? The mess hall in front of his control room.”

Elitist sighed, rubbing his eyes. “If we lose him, what is our plan of recovery?”

“Short term? What it always is, self destruct. The titanium walls are still in place to drop the moment Apex falls,” said Vulse, pleased with himself. The walls had been his own personal idea, one of the many that earned him the position of Chief of Security.

“I want escape routes covered thoroughly. Even if they win this one, I want every last Resistance member either dead or secured for examination.”

Doctor Con Vulse nodded, bowing his head again and stepping out of the room.
  24. Steve whistled in approval at Cortianna's work. "Glad you're working for us," he murmured as the hero gestured toward the group and began to proceed through the area to the AT door.

As he walked by, Steve made sure to hit a few Mayhem soldiers hard across pressured areas, all in the interest of fitting in with the scene of course. Arrow re-joined the others at the door, coming into view.

"Alright... I'm going to open this door on three, then we need to rush in so I can lock the soldiers out," said Steve. He held up three fingers, then two, one.

He threw the door open and charged in. As soon as all the others had made it, he whirled around, kicking hard at the metal and buckling it, firmly wedging the door into the rock. It would take time for them to move it out of the way, if they even calmed down anytime soon to notice it was damaged.

A soft clap echoed throughout the room. "And now you think you'll storm in here, take over my base, and go home with an extra? The Resistance gets more foolish with each passing day..."

The voice seemed to come from everywhere. The good news is, no guards were inside. Or at least, that they could see. Likely some of the Mayhem Elite, the former Bane Spiders, were in hiding as well.

The thought was proved right as several of them came into view, dropping from the ceiling and spinning as they swung thier maces wide.

Arrow fired an explosive shot at the ceiling, knocking loose some rocks around them, but also dislodging a few that had been about to rain fire down onto them.

Steve leaped out of the circle of fighters, attacking from the edges.
