As Dark Watcher threw Grey, Danica raced up behind him, flying forward with a powerful side-kick aimed for his head.
Straum ran to Thelth's side, nodding to the other man, then holding his arms up. Thelth teleported a pile of rubble above the fight, which was quickly blasted apart by a lightning strike from Straum, and the now jagged pieces were sent hurtling toward Nemesis from a conjured strong wind. -
The Assault Bot stood calmly in the flames, the heat doing little to damage it. The bot raised both arm cannons, firing bright blue pulses of energy to stagger the Oni.
The Battle Drones made it up over the wall enough to fire at Hotaka from behind, the quick laser shots likely to surprise.
As soon as the Drones seemed about to make it over, both Proc Bots lifted off, jet boots letting them leap easily over the pile. As they came down, arms converted to something similar to chain guns. This similarity became even greater as they rained a hail of bullets on Hotaka before landing. -
"Coward," said Straum as Nemesis wrapped himself in his little bubble. The mage turned toward the fight between... Lady Grey and Dark Watcher? Odd...
The accusations that one was an automaton half-solved the question, only leaving who was telling the truth.
It was Thelth who thought of a potential solution. He turned to the HVAS on top of Sah'Teece, holding out a hand. With a faint pop, it disappeared, coming back into existence between the dueling Vanguard. He walked towards the Rikti and knelt. "I don't suppose you can explain?"
Danica watched everything with silent calculation. One can normally tell the difference between human and automaton if they just watch for a moment. Any minute now, one of them should give a betraying sign. -

((I read through about the first half of the thread, so please forgive me if this is already in here.))
Scirocco (to LR): My Lord, perhaps if we put all the villains in these isles to work, instead of pitting them against each other, we could launch an assault on Paragon.
Lord Recluse (hands on hips): Watchu talkin' 'bout, 'Rocco?
Scirocco: Oh for...I'm Arab-American, Dammit!
Lord Recluse: ...I'm going to have to go to that sensitivity training thing again, aren't I?

The fact of your avatar and that I read all of LFG last night makes me like you instantly, Hero. -
Randall soon found himself running past his target. Thelth sighed from the back as an explosion outside rocked the room. "As touching as self sacrifice is, I believe my skill in teleportation magics was more suitable to this situation." There was a faint glow on Thelth's chest, but it dimmed quickly after.
-
As Hotaka dropped the brick wall, the flier got in position to launch another, much larger package.
Behind Ryuu, a large box unfolded into an even larger Assault Bot. It's cannons glowed a bright red before letting loose a heavy laser pulse.
As it did so, the Battle Drones were beginning to scale the wall, two Proc Bots upgrading them and themselves with nanites at the same time. -
When Archlich turned toward Straum however, he would see the man was already gone...
--------------
Jade Moon
A fireball flew across the room, smacking into the back of Nemesis's head with a dull thud. "Now, now. What would your mother think?" said a very confident Straum as he stepped forward, lightning crackling about his hands.
-------------
Danica stepped back from the Detention Field, grimacing. Anyone watching would notice how she bounced back and forth from foot to foot, anxious to get back into the fight.
Thelth however was still waiting in the background. His friend should have arrived by now, and the delay was troubling. -
This gave Steve a chance to whirl around and see his attacker. "You! I knew you couldn't be trusted!"
He rolled forward, then spun to kick Thule's feet out from under him. -
Steve nodded to Hotaka, moving quickly towards the entrance that should take him underground to the weapon. He was nearly there, about to activate the hidden elevator, when he was moved from his current location to a new one.
Next to Thule. -
Danica had been watching the battle for a moment, trying to get a feeling for how the group moved. As soon as the robots began moving in, she too charged.
With a forward flip, she brought both heels down onto the head of the Warhorse with a satisfying clang.
Thelth stayed in the back, watching. He had sent for a friend of his to join them. He should be arriving shortly.
----------------------
A man in a long, flowing robe stepped onto the grounds of Portal Corp. His face wore an open expression of welcome to those around him as he walked toward Unai and the others.
"Hello, I am Straum. I need access to assist my friend on the other side of this portal." -
Steve skidded to a halt. "Of course not..." In reality, the thought that this was exactly what Frau was trying to draw out of him had slipped his mind. Still, it needed to be examined and made secure. He was already getting messages about the plan from Sybil.
It also didn't help that Panzerfrau's robots had just entered firing distance and began to let loose a barrage of laser bursts.
----------------
Arrow broke from the kiss first, startled. "We need to talk about this, I-"
She held a finger to his lips, silencing him. "Later. For now..." She gestured towards a flier overhead that was dropping off another batch of troops. Windsong leapt off the rooftop to the streets below. Arrow nodded and followed. -

Lord Recluse: "Ghost Widow... I..."
*Ghost Widow pulls a towel up over her body, glaring evilly at Recluse.
Lord Recluse: "Wow! Nice shoes..."

You know, there's got to be Lord Recluse/Statesman and Ms. Liberty/Ghost Widow slash fiction out there in the wild somewhere. heh.

ARGH! MY BRAIN!

You found it? Where?! -
Obsidian quickly let his arrows fly, the explosions knocking away the lesser soldiers, but the Heavy Assault guy kept coming.
Windsong stepped in front and held her arms high, screaming with enough force to crack the glass shield on the man's helmet. He staggered for a moment as pieces scraped his eyes, but the injections that made him such a brute helped him push past the pain.
He fired a quick bolt of energy that would have caught Windsong right in the gut if Arrow hadn't thrown her out of the way, taking the blow himself. He staggered back, gripping his stomach.
"You didn't have to do that," she said as she stole energies from the now slowly charging Assault soldier and used them to heal Arrow. "Listen, there's something I should tell you."
Arrow got back up, grimacing as he began to set a time bomb for the slowed attacker. "Is this really a good time?"
"As good as any. I used to know you, before you died here."
Arrow looked up. "What?" He tossed the time bomb in front of the Heavy Assault soldier, who tried to turn around. Unfortunately, moving as he was, this action took quite some time. Arrow grabbed Windsong and ran with her out of the blast range.
"We... We were..." She held up a hand, a hand with a ring. The explosion made the metal shine brightly in the darkness.
Arrow took a moment to digest all of this. "You mean you were... are... my-"
"Yes."
For once, the archer found himself at a loss for words. It was almost impossible. Almost. There was this one girl he had been thinking of asking out, but it didn't seem like it would ever work. And now that he thought about it, that girl and Windsong looked pretty familiar.
Before he could continue this runaway thought train, Windsong closed the distance, locking Arrow in a kiss. -
Panzerfrau pouted at the stopped bullet. "Vell... It seems I haff to do everythink around here. Goodbye, mein friends." An odd, almost metallic laugh sounded as she faded away.
Steve took one bewildered glance at the sniper shot, then another at where the hologram faded away. "Yeah, moving would be good. Follow me."
He ran off behind one of the larger piles of rubble, even as the sounds of an abnormally large flier began whirring overhead. Several loud clanks of metal falling from the sky indicated Panzerfrau's own robotic minions had been dropped. Clicks and whirrs sounded as they unfolded, arm cannons prepping to fire at the first visible target.
---------------------
The soldiers didn't last long, but they knew it wasn't in vain as two ground troops cornered Jake on either side, one bearing a cape to signify his rank.
One rushed in from each side as the others covered them with mace blasts directed straight for Jake. -
"Heavily forested areas will work best, I think. More effective preparations against discovery and retaliation can be made there," she said, keying in coordinates. An old picture of the woods north of Jack in Irons throne came on the screen.
Rachel watched and listened from the back of the room, waiting quietly.
-------------------
"Something we can't afford to lose," said Steve as he headed toward one pile of rubble that was once a warehouse. He shook his head. "I can't understand what stopped them from doing this before though. If they always could, why wait til now? Why when-"
"You're so close?"
A figure stepped through the smoke and fog, a black cape flowing behind her, connected to shoulder pads that jutted out in sharp points. Her armor covered every inch securely, except for her face, only partially hidden underneath a milary-esque hat. "Da. Ve knew all along about ze veapon. Haff you forgotten who it is your're dealink viff?" She chuckled. "Now, if you vill just tell me vere you keep it, I vill be happy to crush you quickly."
Steve sighed. "Panzerfrau..." He chucked a rock, watching as it sailed through her, making the image shimmer, then restabilize. "And it's just a hologram."
-------------------
A pair of stealth soldiers watched Jake from an abandoned rooftop. One quickly leapt off, aiming to fall on top of the Resistance fighter while the other aimed his mace for a killing blow.
-----------------
Arrow sped through the streets, searching for soldiers in need of aid. Windsong descended in front of him, a vicious smile on her face as four Mayhem helmets dropped at her feet. "Not too bad..."
"You should be resting," said Arrow with a slight frown.
"I don't think we have to worry too much about me... Listen, I need to tell you-"
"Over there! Quickly men, bring them down!" A Heavy Assault soldier and several other Mayhemites charged forward.
"No time," said Arrow, leveling his bow as he grabbed an explosive. -

(Oh, and Grey, I'm fairly sure that's actually Arch-Lich, not Blightlord.)
[/ QUOTE ]
((Yup. But if I remember it right, Toy puts it as Archlich.))
Danica shook her head the whole time as everyone scrambled to figure out what happened, and bad news continued to follow.
She watched carefully as Randall stepped forward to take the lead, keeping not too far behind him. From the looks of things, she was one of the more durable members of the group.
Big Thelth chuckled at Grey's threat. "Now, would that be regrettable for me, or for you, friend? Worry is unnecessary here. Nothing can be gained from Nemesis controlling the world." -
Sybil took a moment to consider this new plan. She hadn't planned on assaulting Blightlord in any way for some time... Mostly because he had the most troops at his disposal. Not just Mayhem soldiers, but mostly his own fairly large company of undead.
"If you believe this to be the best course, I can spare just enough to get you all inside and cover any gains you plan to hold down. I can also send several technicians in to perhaps establish a temporary base that can be fortified later." -
D&D
Basic questline I picked up when I listened to two friends of mine doing a run. A thief stole a valuable object and retreated into the local "strip club." You must track the thief down.
----------------------
Vincent: Okay, I wanna ask everyone in the room if they've seen the thief.
DM: Roll.
V: 16.
DM: Ok, everyone shakes their head and says no. The only exception is one person who nervously looked off to the side, then said no.
V: Sense motive.
DM: Motive is not wanting to die.
V: Wait a minute, how is he-
DM: Toilet paper and a mini skirt.
Me: O.o
All: ...
All: ...
All: ...
Me: Do a grapple check. Pull down the pants.
(Unsurprisingly, they do it.) -
Obsidian Arrow was racing through the night, keeping a careful eye out for people in trouble. Not many civilians seeked refuge in such a contested area as Kings Row, but there were some that stubborn.
As he ran by, a troop of Mayhem soldiers passed. He turned mid-run and fired an explosive arrow. They were sent flying apart, easy pickings for the Resistance soldiers who had been running to meet them.
Satisfied, Arrow continued going until he spotted what looked like an officer, judging by his continued shouting into a communicator.
-------------------
Steve Power looked around the Warehouse section and sighed. It was all completely destroyed. Their production in this area was done for... He just had to check one last thing before calling a retreat... -
Steve headed out of the tram station, leaping into the night. Overhead, the sounds of the roaring dropships as they let loose covered sounds of movement.
Arrow nodded to the others. "Good luck." He pressed a button on his belt, activating a cloaking device. As he faded from sight, the only hint he had left was the rush of air as he sped out in search of information. -
The idea of this thread is to post some things that cracked you up during a Pen and Paper game, whether it was Dungeons and Dragons, Champions, World of Darkness, or any other. I'll start off with two that happened to me today.
Game: D&D
DM: "Ok, so, this guy walks up to you. Ok, you can talk to him now."
Vincent: "I hold my crossbow under his chin and say 'Who are you!'"
Me: "... I cast Hold Person."
DM: What?! Oh, fine. Roll initiative...
V: Hah! I rolled higher. I fire my crossbow. *Rolls for the hit*
DM: ... You miss.
V: But... Point blank!
Me: Weapon jam? Anyway, Hold Person. *Roll Die*
DM: Hit
Me: I bash Vincent over the head with my mace...
DM: Why are you even fighting?!
Me: I hate Halflings.
----------
Game: D&D
DM: Ok, you've now betrayed the peaceful Kobolds and killed all of them in the room... *sigh*
Jay: We wanna go in the next room.
DM: Okay... In the corner, you see two Kobold children cowering in the corner. They obviously have the plague and are muttering the words, 'Coooold... Cooooooold.'
Me: Let's kill 'em!
Caroline (Paladin): You can't kill the children!
Me: ... I cast Obscuring Mist around Caroline's head...
DM: Success.
Me: Sweet! I kill the Kobold Kiddies
DM: ... You slaughter them with ease.
C: That's it, I'm leaving the party...
Me: What? You didn't see anything. I hide the bodies under the pile of the good Kobolds we killed earlier.
C: I hate you all... -
Thelth muttered, "Insanity," when Grey told them of Nemesis's plan, his face one of shock.
Danica looked at him carefully, and with her trained eye could tell it was forced. He knew all this already. Why he would pretend not to, however, confused her.
When Grey mentioned settling affairs, she took one longing glance back in the direction of Steel Canyon. Immediately though, she set herself and remained firm, walking forward toward the portal. "I'm ready when you are." -
A quick scan of the page revealed this:
Croatoa: Formerly known for a nasty magical infestation of various mythical creatures, it is now a place where these beings work in servitude. The spells that held them to this world now leave them trapped as they are forced to use their skills to create for the Masters.
The specifics of what has become of each groups recognized leaders is unknowns, only that they have not been seen since the enslavement. It is suspected Blightlord, who requested control of this area on top of those already in his possession, was the one to take them. Likely, the high concentration of magics there are what drew his eye, although the strong presence of Mayhem troops guardian the facilities keep him from doing anything there Elitist would not learn of soon.
For more, see Profile: Blightlord -
Sybil hid her emotions well, but inside sank a bit. She had rather hoped her reasons for keeping such a hard to keep positions would remain unquestioned, or that they would draw their own conclusions as most of the Resistance troops had.
"I'm afraid that the factories in Kings Row supply a large part of our weapons. Galaxy City and Atlas Park have adequate facilities, but not to the extent there. And, since I believe in honesty to allies, there is something else. However, that is all I can tell you. You must understand."
