1. I love the leveling pact! My partner and I played until 4th level, then he had to go. I then joined a sewer team and played until I was level 7 and everyone else was 8+.

I leveled fine, if more slowly in the sewers.

In real missions I noticed the wierdness of not getting the leveling bonus until exit, or logon, if your partner leveled you. Eh, I can live with it, though it doesn't make me jump for joy. I can put up with it for the leveling pact.

I am for having characters over level 5 create a leveling pact if they are the EXACT same level. Perhaps only let each character create one ONCE after 5 to prevent possible abuse. I have a couple of Twin characters that tried to stay the same level. It's not that easy. One pair is 18, and one 24. It would be nice that they could make a pact, so we don't have to say "Sorry, can't join. My twin's not on"
2. So, why is this listed as [I12] without a single IO listed? Got my Scrapper to 50 and thought this would give me some ideas on what to spend my Influence on and what to improve. What Young Tutor said. It is an excellent guide on how to play and level pre [I9], but not past that without ANY IOs
3. There is also a bug for bases not accessed for 60 days are deleted.

When you petition to get them back, you get a generic, barn red starter base with a rez ring and some empty storage.
4. Any ILL/Thermal guides? Would this be any good with the ability to armor your Phantasm and melt the armor of the baddies?

Cut the levels in half except for 3 years and I might agree. But it seems a little fast for Military or those where things come up. Times are harder than they were 8 years ago
6. [ QUOTE ]
I guess I still don't get the whole Event Channel thing. I added an "Event Announcements" chat tab on each toon I played Friday and Saturday, and I never saw a single invasion announcement on it. Clearly I did something wrong because other players seemed to be getting the announcements.

As a result my quest for the badges didn't progress very far. I only participated in three or four invasions total, and those only because I accidentally happened to be in the right zone at the right time. There's still four nights left this go-around, so can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong?

Also, is there a reason the invasion announcements were removed from the Global channel where a casual player is much more likely to see them?

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, they were removed from the global channel because a bunch of vocal people complained & complained about it on the boards. Personally, I appreciated them when they were bright red before they were changed tio green.

As for your original question, it took me half the invasion to figure it out. Sorry I didn't see your post until now. On my Villains I added the maroon Villain Event channel to the general tab and a tab of their own. On my Heroes I added the red Event Channel to the general tab and one of its own. My villains quickly got their badges, but my heroes saw not a message. By chance one of my heroes got caught in a wave and my PUG leader told us all to go to Steel when they faded. Obviously she was getting messages I was not. I looked again.

There is a half purple, half translucent Hero Event Channel, that is not the event channel. I added that and got the messages, but often didn't notice it because it is hard to read and doesn't stand out.

In this case, we're really talking about a Quality of Life improvement for new players. Perhaps I need to remind you of what it is like to a new player with a level 5 - 6 character:

This new player has been following his contact's missions religiously; after all, it's the easiest way to find a bunch of enemies spawned close together for his level. So between level 4 and 5, his first contact finally introduces him to a second contact. And if he's unlucky, the second contact might be in the other starter zone ... let's say he started in Atlas Park, and now he has to go to Galaxy to talk to his second contact.

So he travels -- sprint speed, you understand, is nowhere close to what the travel powers provide. He gets to his second contact in Galaxy, and he's essentially told to go back to Atlas Park and pay a visit to the Hollows.

So now he travels back. At this point, frustration is mounting. The player wants to get to a real mission, not get this run-around. When he finally makes it to the Hollows, he talks to Wincott and takes the mission.

First surprise: it's a Defeat 10 street-sweep. Huzzah. Second surprise: the enemies congregate in large numbers. Back in the days when the Hollows was first introduced, there were a lot of people in Hollows ... so finding a group was as easy as showing up in the zone's Find list. Nowadays ... I rarely see more than 3 people in the zone.

So our poor new player with his level 5or6 character is forced to solo through that first mission. Let's say he doesn't use the "buy inspirations" trick ... he'll eventually get defeated simply by the overwhelming numbers. And now he has to go to the hospital.

Guess what happens:
-- Long Loading Screen to the Hospital
-- Go thru two "doors" to get out of Hospital
-- Long travel -- still sprinting -- to get to Hollows
-- Long Loading Screen to enter Hollows

Things like this is what frustrate many new players to any MMORPG. So I'm glad they've simplified that 4-step-process above to this:

-- Reappear at Field Hospital in Hollows.

To be honest, I'd rather have the Devs change that "first mission from second contact" to direct the player to visit the Detective in Kings Row. It's not good to make new players think that the Hollows is the natural progression.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh. I so wish that happens. Talk to the KR detective instead of Talk to David in the Hollows. When I first started I thought that was what you had to do. Finish your first contact's mission, go to your second contact, get sent to the Hollows. Follow David's mission and die repeatedly until you get contacted by a PUG in the Hollows. Do all THEIR missions in the Hollows (and they usually had a mission higher than yours so it didn't sync) gain lots of levels until they broke up. Go back and easily finish all of David's arc solo with your squishy. Find you out leveled Flux, so you got no mission. Find you outleveled your second contact, who acts like you never done a mission for them and doesn't give you another contact. Then I roll up a new character.

This happened with my first 2 characters. It wasn't until my third, that I discovered the boards, and read a "Things I Learned" posting that said you could go to David, AND NOT TAKE A MISSION!

Really? What a wonderful idea! So after that I never took a Wincott mission unless it synced with someone else's mission. It wasn't that obvious unless you read the boards, so I hope the contacts stop encouraging the Hollows trap.

That being said, I look forward to trying out the new Hollows, I just fear it will make you outlevel stuff outside even faster with more content.
8. We should each contribute some loot so we can build a big Tomb for his body, and install lots of traps! With a killer trap in the first room.
9. [ QUOTE ]

Um...No. The fact is that w/o the current subscriber base this game wouldn't even be here. Why shouldn't I recieve whatever everyone else gets. You don't really think subscription fees from those who played since day 1 and never took a break is enough to keep this game profitable.

So enjoy your 48th month rewad..but just remember it's all of the current subscribers who helped you get it.

[/ QUOTE ]

By this logic you'd be saying a person who worked 6 months at a company should be given the same retirement as someone who devoted 30 years of his life to the company.... I disagree and think loyalty should be rewarded.

If it's just about economics, then they should give vet rewards for the amount of paid time, even prepaid up to the latest reward. I'd be willing to prepay on my accounts the months & years needed to get the latest reward.

But I think it's about loyalty, like the gold watch they used to give you when they put you out to pasture. And I have no problem with them rewarding loyalty.
10. The pack was a little expensive, but I got it on 2 of my 3 accounts. I would have liked it better if it came with a power, an extra costume slot, or at LEAST a free costume change token for each of my characters. We paid for the costume, we shouldn't have to pay again to put it on/.
11. Thank you so much for the large advance warning!! No one should complain about being blindsided this time.

And Yea! Yea! for double XP.
12. [ QUOTE ]

Do you remember the disclaimer that came with the poll that said even if Shields win, it won't be one of the next powersets?

[/ QUOTE ]

I remember that too. It said if Shields and/or Growth won, it would take time to implement them, so we would not get them in the next issue.

So I voted for both of them, willing to wait for more complex art. And was glad when they said that they would work on Shields, but we would get the next most voted for defense in the meantime, Willpower.
13. After last Sunday's invasion, I totally HATE the new design. We fight the Rikti & it has left the area & people say
"Where do we go next?"
"I dunno"
"I think it's in Talos"
"No it's left there"
"I can't find it, it's hiddin among all the other green comments"
"Let's go to PI, it always goes there last"
"Not always"
and we spend 5 minutes scrolling back until it leaves the area we could have gone & enters a new one.

There are only 4 more days. Can't we have it back in red for them? Or at least, can I make Vanguard my Friend? Have it show up in the friend channel? The Heavy artillery are hard enough to find as it was, now it's almost impossible when no one knows where to go.

Maybe I should have objected when people were complaining about the Admin alerts, but I was happy, so I was silent.
14. I for one don't like the new change. I was perfectly happy with it on the Admin channel. I could look for the red text & hop the train for the next wave. Now the Vanguard channel is the same green as most text and I can't find it. I can't vind the Vanguard channedl to add, don't know how to change it to a more easy to observe color. I use the Friends channel, but wouldn't mind vanguard sharing it and being in gradiated orange. I could at least see it then & know where to run. Plus I don't know how to add it to a tab as there doesn't seem to be a vanguard tab. It seems I have to be on the Help tab if I want to see it & I can no longer tell, as it doesn't seem to populate inside missions.

Of course, I want to hunt the spawns while they last. Others who don't may like this change, but it makes it hard to drop everything & run for it when a wave starts.
15. This is Awesome!! I have used this as a guide for building my small base for me & a few friends. The only thing was my friends wanted storage more than TPers, so the 2x2 workshop went in before the TP room. Now that we have One teleporter in a 2x2 room, and even managed to build an energy room & generator, I'm trying to figure out when it is best to swap out the oversight room for a control room which seems to be a 235k increase. We don't intend to sell any storage, including the vault & Invention Worktable we have in the Oversite room, so the delay is longer than if we followed your progression.

At this point, I started to check your math. In base 4b it seems you swapped the amount of energy between your Database & your rez ring (what I assume you mean by Reclamator - it becomes Rez Ring in base 9 and you fix its control) but the total amount winds up the same.

Base 5b you seem to have forgot to remove the cost of the small porter room since my total is 1,399k for the base.

Base 5b.1 you correct the energy for your Databases, but still use the incorrect amount for the Rez Ring. Also I don't know what happened to the base cost, but it seems to be off by 70K. The 70K cost & 25 Energy seem to follow through the bases until base 9 where I see you having 100 more control left over than you estimate.

The math isn't really important, but it is something you might want to look into fixing if you decide to update the guide for I9 & inventions.

Thanks again. I had problems with room placement until I read your guide. I was afraid to play with bases and delete things until I read your guide. It has helped more than any other base guide.
16. I was the only one not to quit Sister Psyche's taskforce & only had my Empath controller. After dying too many times I quit & grabbed a scrapper buddy to go with me & showed him how to get the shivan temp power. Now I have that which has been used once & a warwolf whiste I have never used. Are they worse/better? But you are right. That shivan saved my but & might have helped me fight the EB. Least I would have something to use my empathy on.

I'll probably forget I have them again until I die a few times.

Oh and I found a spleen as salvage. Sold it on the black market for more than wings since their price drop. Dr. Vazisomething said he'd pay top influence for any more hero parts.
Besides, what could you do with one with only arrows? Roast it like a marshmallow? This guy had scalples & sutchers.

Your guide is just ducky! Best out there. Makes me want to make an archer.
17. Well, I loved the initial invasion and accidently got the Watchman Accolade on my prime near the end of it & wondered what it did. Yesterday I went hunting with another alt, and got her the accolade. I found out the heavies didn't spawn in Atlas for some reason, even when I was teamed with a group of 8 midlevels (20s) when we left Steel to go to Atlas to find more. And there were 5 times as many people in Atlas.

This morning at 4 am the invasion was still going on, so I got a start on another of my alts before work, but there was noone to team with, so I'll have to finish that on Saturday.

The invasion seems to be 6 zones close together rather than the previous 3. Which I like since it is in limited run.

All in all, I think this is excellent & shouldn't be retired, but done at least one or 2 days a month at least.

Then I was reminded of those in-game billboard ads for an Attorney at Law around Paragon City and I thought, wouldn't it be neat if there was a court house or legal establishment building in-game that...

[/ QUOTE ]

Um, If I recall correctly, don't all of those billboards say something to the effect that criminals can call them to get out of jail right after a hero has arrested them?

I'm just sayin...
19. Pretty good guide. I would say excellent, but it looks like your first post got cut off and I want to know how much I'm missing. Still, I plan to use it as it looks like it has a lot of good advice. Thanks!
