Awesome, some work has been started on fielding at least one Corp team so between SGs and individual competitors meeting and getting to know each other IC and hopefully forming teams to give it a shot we should hopefully have a good team competition
  2. Glad to see there's interest, I'm hoping this will be a big and fun event that will go on for a month or so. I plan to record matches and probably fun interviews/'backstage' pieces. Details are being ironed out and there will be more promo work upcoming.

I welcome input/help from all and I hope people are looking forward to this

  3. Gladiators Ready?!

Gladiators starts Saturday 5th of February at 7PM above the monkey cage in Pocket D! We'll be hosting battles in a variety of leagues between metahumans from throughout the cosmos and beyond! All competitors and spectators welcome!

    When can I fight?
You can fight your designated opponent, challenge someone, enter the Gauntlet or fight an exhibition/grudge match whenever you and your opponent(s) are free and you can grab a referee to oversee the fight, note the result and record it!

Referees are @Bunny (me) and @oreso, with @Alcione as ‘backup ref’. We can be contacted at any time via tells or ingame email to arrange matches (unless we're already in a match) and we will always get a ref in Pocket D on weekends. On the day of launch @Bunny will be in PD from 6:30 pm (British time) until late(ish) and on Sunday the 6th from 3 pm 'til late(ish). When the refs clock-in during subsequent weekends will depend on demand.

How long will Gladiators go on?
This depends on interest and how quickly we get through stages of the competition. We’ll do our best to keep it on a reasonable time frame whilst still allowing some ’wiggle room’ for people with RL commitments to participate fully. Watch this space for updates on this as time progresses and we get a feel for things.

    Who’s my opponent?
Please check below for who your opponents are. Please note that I have left space for people to turn up on the day or sign up late. It would help a lot if people filled in the form however, there’s still time!

Globals of players are provided to help organise times for matches. Do feel free to contact these players yourself.

    All-Star League
All-Star League is split into qualifier groups you may challenge anyone in your qualifier group, the idea is for you to fight everyone in your group and the top 2 of each group progress to the next round of competition.

    Group 1 “Plum Blossom”
    1. Hitmark (@Longier)
    2. Techbot ALPHA (@Techbot ALPHA)
    3. Storm (@Thunderar)

    3. Elizabeth Bathory (@Elizabeth Bathory)
    4. Common Sense (@Pearsh)
    5. Discontent (@Alcione)

Qualifying matches are expected to take 2 – 3 weeks to organise and complete. Any late signups/people turning up in the first two weeks of competition will be given slots in these groups, so please keep an eye for updates on additions to your qualifier group.

    Pure League
Competitors are split into two qualifying groups. These groups will function as the qualifying stage of All-Star does with the top 2 of both groups progressing to the next stage.

    Group 1 “The Prestidigitator”
    1. Silvas (@Black Knight)
    2. Von Schaden (@Techbot ALPHA)
    3. Pious Hunter (Character is out of action)

    1. Boarder (@Alcione)
    2. Double Edged (@Pearsh)

    4. Tarana (@Elizabeth Bathory)

As with the All-Star league we will put late signups/arrivals on the day into these groups, but would prefer to be notified in advance of people planning to join. There's plenty of opportunity here for people to jump in with a quickly respeced second (or third) SO build!

    Best Newcomer
The newcomers have 2 – 3 weeks to challenge one another and prove themselves, the two that perform best will be put through to the final stage of this competition.

    Group 1 "Glacia"
    • La Zorra (@Wolfram)
    • Summoner Witch (@Alexia Morgan)
    • Foreboding (@Cactus Brawler)
    • Doctor Shock N Awe (@TheSpareHand)

    • Carl (@oreso)
    • Fairy Cake (@Bunny)
    • Tac Team (@Nychus)
    • Guardian Vixen (@Alexia Morgan)

This competition also welcomes more signups and will take on all newcomers arriving on the day. By far the cheapest competition to enter, just grab a level 20 and go!

NB: The top two in all qualifying groups will be determined using the following points system: 3 for a Win. 2 for a Draw. 1 for a Loss. If a competitor is unable to challenge everyone in their group they will be awarded an extra 1 point for each match they were unable to arrange.

    Team League
Teams are invited to challenge one another to earn points. The Scoring system is as follows: Decisive Win, doubling the opponent's defeats: 5 points! Win: 3 points! Draw: 2 points! Lose: 1 point!

On the second to last week the Team League will enter the Heat Stage! The teams that have played the most matches cannot compete for this week, and the other teams have this week to catch up until they've played the same number! If there is still a discrepency, any team that has played less matches will be graced with 1 point per missing match.

The two teams with the highest scores at the end of the Heat Stage will face off for one last fight in the last week to determine the overall winner and who is left with second place!

    Registered Teams:
    Team Hardcore (@Bunny)
    The Nighthunters (@TheOrrery/@Thunderar)
    The Corporation (@Bunny/@Techbot ALPHA/@CX/@Pearsh)
    The Foundry (@Bunny/@oreso/@Alcione/@Q.)
    Cadre/unnamed mercs team(@Dante/@Romanov/@Wolfram/@Ammon/@Dipster)
Gladiators (Still not a full team - @Lady Arete/@Elizabeth Bathory)

    Gladiators Gauntlet
Once the show starts Gladiators can enter the Gauntlet whenever they wish! Just contact @Bunny or @oreso.

But please note, as other matches are being run on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and this will steal the refs' attention, we'd prefer to run them at other times.

    Can I help at all?
Yes, yes you can, you awesome person you!

I am currently collecting OOC prizefunds, from in-game inf and items to anything you can think of that would make a nifty prize. If anyone wants to donate it’ll be gratefully received.

I’m also happy to take any footage you have of the action taking place. Just record a demo file and send it to me. I would especially love it if one or two people could record their Gauntlet runs in this fashion as I won’t be able to go in with people for fairness sake (I don’t want to accidentally agro anything for people!)

And that’s all for now, please keep an eye here and on the Handbook pages for updates!

Emerald had been about to call out to the siblings, she knew a lot of St. Martial like the back of her hand and could have easily shown them some great places to spend some time. The offer never left the tip of her tongue however as Leon spoke up. Slowly she gave a bright grin at the offer. Inclining her head in a small grateful nod she accepted the offer, glad of the idea of his company. Taking hold of his arm once more she gave it a gentle squeeze.

"Let's go enjoy an island that isn't immediately trying to kill us!"

Still she couldn't help but give a brief inhalation of breath at the slightest pang of nerves she felt as she followed through the open doorway.

Things had gone from slightly confused to mild chaos and as someone who'd only come to the island out of curiousity the idea of leaving was becoming increasingly alluring to Emerald. Absentmindedly gently stroking the backs of Leon's fingers with her thumb she offered up a small smile and a nod. "I think that's a good idea, things here are clearly a mess and there are far more interesting things that are less likely to end up with me dead to do out there!"
  7. D5, With the Vampires

Emerald had kept uncharacteristically quiet throughout the movements through the tunnels and towards the elavator shaft. Her greeting to Lucard had been a simple smile and a nod, far from her regular abundance of affection and cheer for those she knew well. She'd listened to all of the vampires and knew that something important to them as a species was happening and felt like she shouldn't be distracting them any more than her unexpected presence already had.

That hadn't stopped her returning Leon's smiles however. Despite how serious the situation was she couldn't help but find some fun and excitement in the whole situation. Squeezing Leon's hand she finally spoke up "...if all of this might not be safe for you... is there anything I can do to help?"
  8. Computers are funny things. I went and doublechecked things when I got up this morning and it's all started behaving. One can only assume it was the matching the graphics settings on live and test and the restart I did last night didn't help but turning the machine off for the night did.

Thank you so much for your help Michelle, you are a star!
  9. Changed so they match entirely, computer reset and the issue is still there.

I have noticed when I'm using -demoplay it seems to make any windows left open behind it superhuge if I tab out, almost as though everythings zoomed in.
  10. I play in full screen mode and I am just downloading the latest patch on test to go in and check my settings there, but if memory serves if they're not the same they are remarkably close.
  11. Thanks for the advice!

I just went and double checked I had the newest version and I do, however it has the issue of telling me it 'Could not find City of Heroes'. It advises I run as an administrator but when I do it just throws up the same error.
  12. The title says it all really.

I can record a demo and can play it back using the '-demoplay name' on the end of a shortcut. However, I run using ultra mode in my standard game but my playbacks done in this way are on lower graphics settings, is there a way of fixing this?

I also tried downloading Zloth's Demo Launcher. Unfortunately, I run Vista currently and despite using 'Run as Administrator' as advised I get an error message stating that the launcher 'Could not find City of Heroes'

Any advice on either of these would be great, as I can make videos from my demos at the moment but would love some higher quality clips to play with.

    Thanks!

Emerald looked around, panic clearly gripping her a little but the sight of Vyachslav suffering brought an odd clarinty to her. Continuing to fly with her feet mere inches above the uneven ground below she moved over to the strange draconian creature. Tilting her head to one side she watched him closely for just a moment before holding a hand up towards his head, a green mist starting to materialise and swirl around it.

"Come on, we need to get you healed and then we all need to move. I won't survive lava and I'm sure it'll be uncomfortable at the very least for the rest of you!"

As I said in the Corporation bit of my last post, at the pace people are wanting to keep for this thread I just can't keep up on everything in depth. This wasn't meant as a personal slight in any way it's just I wanted to get my post in before everything ended :\

Also, I missed that V was trying to get past Emerald, I thought he was elsewhere in the mines, so on brief glance on this thread I felt like:

    Quote:
So...you two gonna say anything to Big V, or should I just move him past yalls? <_<
Could have been aimed at anyone. I really don't currently have the time to follow everything, and sometimes in mass forum RP things get missed. It's happened to me in the past too, a post gets misunderstood or missed and things can continue without you. It isn't a personal slight, it's just the way of things, it can be frustrating but no need to make a big deal out of it.

In future if you think I've missed something address me byname or drop me a PM and I'll get right to wrok rectifying it.

Kimiko had only just set to work lining up shots against the rabid undead storming the port before she got distracted by other goings on. The brief shadow in the sky that felt.. old.. somehow. The rumbling and exploding. The general feeling of panic. It suddenly didn't feel worth it if it was going to descend into madness quickly. Quickly she lifted the technological device on her wrist to near her mouth.

"It's all getting a little pulp movie here" She remarked calmly "Sign me up for scavenger team" She added with a small smile before turning and moving at a brisk pace, collecting 'shiny' items from downed mercenaries as she headed for the road above the beach and the firing postions there. Time to scavenge and scarper.

    Hall of Fates, Corporation Base

"Team Four, your proposed dropoff is hot.. much too hot.." Aquis remarked calmly in response to the volcano's eruption as she focused in on the mystic force that intrigued her, watching the disk that showed the skies above the island and weaving spells to trace what may have caused the effect. She had once been vampiric in nature and had to weave a great many magics to change herself into the woman she was today and the feeling of the old magic intrigued her greatly.

"Join team three" She continued, still instrusting her teams despite her spell weaving "Kimiko, Kawaii Nekobot, is on the scene and working with us on the scavenging now. Three and Four join her, all other teams procede as planned. Attack Plan 2. Looks like we're moving in fast and hard. Move in, take what can be taken with ease whilst others are distracted before stepping back out."

The Corporation teams moved quickly and with ease to areas not currently directly in the volcano's path. Stepping out of arcane portals the teams moved with precision. Nobody had directly offered them enough money, or any money for that matter, to take sides in the fighting so they were going to profit by taking items that could be sold on.

((Corp teams at various points on the island, for short periods of time. They take things before stepping out. This ranges from old tech pieces, to items on downed mercs to samples from interesting plants. I would have been more specific with the wheres and whats but at the rate this thread is currently going I don't think I would have the time to handle this in depth.))

Emerald had been about to continue talking to the father and son pair she was accompanying when she was cut short by the rumbling. Releasing Leon's arm she stretched her wings, taking her feet an inch off of the ground to prevent stumbling. As the sounds grew and the warning came in the form of a woman rushing to join them she looked around their surroundings, the temptation to flee obvious in her eyes she paused for just a moment to see what the vampires were planning to do.

"I like to see things through to the end" Emerald replied gently with a warm smile "And I'm not always a bartender, I do a lot of other things. It's because of those things I seem to keep crossing this 'Open Season' thing, so I thought it'd be interesting to watch.. but watching things alone gets old quite quickly"
  17. Castle Bathory and the Nighthunter base assaulted and items taken with the permission of Liz and Pious - thanks guys

Sorry to put it on the fight thread when it won't be discovered until afterwards, however I wanted to get it there as it may be discussed ingame (especially as the NHers are having their party tonight) I also left the presence of people in the bases as vague as possible so characters could have been there just briefly knocked out (NHers) or just mystically (thanks to the shard's magic) didn't notice people in the castle taking things.

Oh and while they'd be handy none of Morrighan's stuff would have been nabbed from the NHers as I'm not going to steal needed character specific items for plotty stuff That said, if Lev wants something to have disappeared in the assault that could have happened of course.
  18. Elsewhere....

    Nighthunters Base

A hooded and masked female figure exited the base portal and took her first steps into the heroes base. Getting this far hadn't been easy for her and she was sure it wasn't going to get any easier now she'd passed the first hurdle. Moving swiftly and with unearthly grace she dashed forwards listening closely to the muffled footsteps of the rest of her team not far behind her. With light footfalls she bounded an indirect route, perching on tiny ledges and observing the route ahead with faintly glowing red eyes barely visible behind her mask. This had taken a lot of planning, a lot of scrying and now would take a lot of skill and a little luck.

The group pushed past the defences with time and only minimal mishap. Thankfully where errors had occured had been at points where it wouldn't raise an alarm and notify any Nighthunters that may still be in the base. The woman smirked to herself, she didn't expect many to still be here after Tomb's goading, they'd all be out being 'heroes'. Approaching an area that looked like it may have Nighthunters hidden away in side rooms she paused and held up a hand, signalling briefly and clearly to her companions who swiftly secured sleek high-tech rebreathers to their obscured faces. Without looking behind her or bothering to use a rebreather herself, the leader of the group paused for just a brief moment before rolling a spherical, glowing azure gem across the floor. As it came to a stop a mystically conjured pale blue fog started to fill the base.

The sounds of coughing and spluttering let the group know that there was someone left behind in the base, not that it would matter soon, if they were inhaling it they'd soon be unconscious, either from the alchemical properties of the gas or the spell tied to it. Once the gas had completely filled the space the team surged forward, using less care to be quiet and concentrating instead on speed and precision. The group targetted useful magical items and pieces of information easily transportable, small charms were pocketed and books carried. Despite the speed of the assault the place wasn't ransacked, safes, vaults and other securities carefully bypassed rather than forced and items neatly taken under the clearly expert eye of the team's leader.

As quickly as they had arrived the team moved out, the only clue left over their presence the empty spaces where powerful and useful items had once sat and the quiet groans of the people who had been in the base waking up.

    Castle Bathory

At the exact moment the other team stepped out of the base portal and into the Nighthunters base a second team walked straight through the door of Castle Bathory as though it weren't even there, the faint flicker of light around them the only clue as to how they'd acheived the feat. Led by a cowled man the second team's movements mirrored the first's their movements cautious, quiet and steady as they pushed deeper into the building. Mishaps with defences occured but despite one member of the team needing to teleport away due to a nasty wound the rest of the team pushed through with only slight reprecussions. They had managed to avoid or disable the bulk of things that may have been an issue, seemingly knowing where all the threats were and ahead lied the heart of the Castle.

The leader of the team gave a single nod and the men and women behind him stopped and waited. Taking a small lilac shard from a pocket he threw it on the ground, the tiny item fragmented upon impact, dissolving away into nothingness. Much like the other leader he was sure that not many, if any, people would be in the Castle at the moment but it was always better safe than sorry. After a moment a small sound surrounded the team, a gentle noise like a distant chime on the wind, letting them know the spell was in effect. Warded from the sight of anyone else in the castle the team surged forward.

As some of his team made their way to the library and others to different rooms throughout the expansive castle the leader made his way directly to the sanctum sanctorum, moving as though he had made the journey countless times and knew it well. Once there he ensured several items were securely bagged and pocketed, alchemical items, the black crystal scrying orb and a couple of potent tomes.

Meeting with the rest of his team in the hallway he gave a nod to the items secured by his companions, especially the potions from the Countess' office carefully secured by one member. And without a word the group disappeared without a trace, seemingly vanishing into thin air.

Emerald gave a dazzling grin to the two vampires, her white teeth a stark contrast to her ebony skin. "It's a pleasure to meet you Lawrence" She told the younger of the two earnestly before giving the older vampire's arm a small squeeze "and it's good to properly meet you, Leon. I'm Emerald. She introduced herself with ease.

As she looked around her black and green butterfly-like wings gave a small stretch behind her "So, what brings you to the Isla?" She questioned in an offhand tone, as though she'd bumped into him in an average park and not the wartorn island and villainous hideout.

Having grown bored Kimiko and her robots meandered north towards the sounds of fighting. The young woman seemed to be in no rush however and she walked casually with the metallic forms, quietly talking with them. The robots didn't reply but seemed to nod along and respond appropriately to her words, either holding some sentience or very well programmed to respond to her cues.

Spotting the feral vampires in the port she shook her head a little. "Now that's just no fun. They won't quip while fighting. Looks like we have dome targets to practice on" She told her robotic companions with a low purr.
  22. D5

Having flown over a lot of the island and seen a lot of the conflicts in passing Emerald started to grow bored and lonely. Catching Leon's parting words to Lucard she couldn't help but smile and after a moments pause she fluttered down, using the the magic of the amulet gifted to her by her employer to travel through the rubble as well she followed before dispelling the invisibility around her as she came to land. Playfully she took hold of Leon's arm, she'd only met him once, in passing but he seemed the sort to not take offence at the act.

"Would you two like some company for your stroll?" She asked sweetly, offering a smile over to Lawrence.
  23. OK, as this may get complicated as more and more people join in could we maybe keep a running list here of where characters are and what they're doing? As far as I'm aware we currently have:

    A6 - Lucard's Yacht
    A8 - Miranda's NHer Team
    A9 - Ghoul attack
    B5 - Lucard
B8 - Kawaii Nekobot + Robots idly lounging
    E5 - Damsel's NHer Team
    H3 - Blade Racer's NH team
    H8 - Tyran's NHer Team
I7 (South of) - Patsy Crusher (plus team)'s Speedboat

    A Few Klicks North-Northwest - Approaching Sub
Far far up in the Skies - Nighthunter's aircraft-carrier (NHers jumping - Pious' North Jungle/Mount Inconvenient team)
Skies above - Emerald Esoterica (currently magically invisible observer)
  24. Hall of Fates, Corporation Base

Aquis worked with slightly sluggish movements, her eyes aglow but a tiredness to them, she still had plenty of power to her, yet still she had been stretched thin of late. Waving a hand in a loose circle she conjured a floating vertical surface. The surface rippled like water, catching the lights of the grand arcane hall for just a moment before something within it changed. A view of part of the Isla de la Muerte Insólito came into soft focus before sharpening into crisp detail. The chairman on The Corporation gave a satisfied nod before moving the magical screen upwards and starting to conjure a fresh one below it.

Soon the petite young woman was surrounded by an array of floating disks, each one showing the current events at a different point on the island. "We're on standby" Came a clear voice through her radio and she couln't help but smile. The Corporation had remained professional throughout the Open Season and had made some good money doing so and this was likely to be the end for all involved. Already she could see Tomb's messages had drawn some people to the island, they were either very brave or very foolish.

She kept her teams on standby, all in the safety of Corporation properties and awaiting her command. She'd already arranged the locations where her teams could be dropped off via a secure teleport should they be needed, spots throughout the Island chosen by her Operations Department to give tactical advantages, and also a few other spots that would be beneficial to her group. But it would be foolish to rush in straight away.

Instead she watched and waited, let the others involved lay into one another as she and her group assessed the worth of the situation. They'd only get involved if there was merit in it and would strike with deadly efficency. As ever, The Corporation meant business.
  25. Landborough Lesser (B8)

Kimiko sat on the shoulder of the largest of her boys, affectionately named 'Stompy'. She'd been present for Tomb's speech, clinging to the back of the group of mercenaries, yet still the young woman hadn't declared alleigance to any side in the conflict. She was present out of idle curiousity, and to shoot the hell out of anyone who dared face off against her, for fun mostly.

Stretching languidly her metallic cat ears gave a tiny twitch at the sounds on the wind. Large vehicles were mobilising, a great many people were preparing to fight, it was quite exciting in it's own way. Leaning back she idly draped herself over Stompy's shoulder plating, much like a lazy cat and just waiting to see what would happen.
