  1. Signed, sealed, delivered. The same goes true for my certified mail letter to the CEO of NCSoft.

Now comes the ugly part ... we wait ...

  2. I finished composing my letter and am expecting to send it out certified mail this week. Maybe my anti-gaming wife will do it for me ... what am I thinking? I'll probably have to venture out at lunch to get it done, but done it will get!

Over 11,000 signatures on the petition when last I checked -

Let's keep hammering! Tanker style ...

  3. I am much like you, Gothica. I am somewhat of a recluse and have seldom posted on the forums. This is definitely a critical situation, however, and I am somewhat compelled to write if for no other reason than self therapy and perhaps to try to persuade some of my fellow heroes to not give up the ghost without a fight.

This is by far the very best game with which I have ever had the fortune of playing. I started in late 2004 (whether anyone knows it or not), and it has just been a simply fantastic ride. The beauty of the game is to involve yourself or not involve yourself as much as you want while at the same time indulging in character concepts and remaining a kid for a bit longer than Father Time would like. There's so much more to it than that, of course, but this is stream of consciousness, so I'll take creative license.

My daughter was 1 when I started playing. As she grew up, she became fascinated by all the characters Daddy was playing, as well as the villains. I still remember how she called the Tuatha "fox heads" and thought they were so cute.

At age 6, she started chomping at the bit to start playing, but I was reluctant to put her on her own account. Eventually, I started to let her play her own characters here and there and this past March, at age 9, she got her own account and has developed her own case of altitus. When we team together, it's just so darn fun.

Last night, I had the displeasure of telling her that COH was closing its doors. She burst into tears and just about made me, too.

What is my point? To make you feel sorry for me and her? No, definitely not. What I would like to encourage everyone to do is to search the forums for game saving topics. This morning, I have composed a letter to NCsoft's Chief Executive Officer and signed an online petition. If you have already taken such actions, the pat on the back you feel is from my hand. If you have not, please do it. Historically, heroes have saved the day at the last minute, sometimes the last second.

Don't give up without a fight. It's not the heroic thing to do.

That's my two cents and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for reading. Keep the faith.

    Sign it!

    Just signed it.

I am also taking the suggestion from another forum to write to Mr. Taek Jin Kim, Chief Executive Officer of NCsoft, to add my voice to trying to save this game.

I told my 9 year old daughter last night, who just earned her own account in March, that the game was closing its doors. She burst into tears and quite nearly made me do so as well.

I am hoping that these efforts will allow us to, heroically, save the day at the last minute.

  5. From one social butterfly to another, hope all is well and that you return to game soon.

And while you're offline for a little while, I haven't finished my Christmas shopping, so if you wouldn't mind ...?
  6. I am sending good thoughts. If I had any miracles, they'd definitely be sent as well.

If you need to rap, hit me up with a PM. I'm not popular either, but I listen pretty good.

    Hang in there, hero.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. Hang in there, kiddo.

Gratz, Mike! Now THAT'S perserverance ...

  9. I'm with you, Jack. I ain't leaving until they cancel the game completely. Too much damn fun to me.

  10. Slacker, she says, skipping merrily down the Aion path ... far away from Paragon City ...

Kidding, of course. Enjoy the new game, hope to see you back here as Mistress Broadnoire or Noireback, or something like that. Too bad we never connected in game other than chatting once in a while.

Keep up the whole fitness thing and you'll be thanking yourself in the future, not only now. Letting yourself go like I did invites a whole lot of kaka into your life that you wish would go away.

    Anyway .... be well.

  11. Lunch time, yay! Wow, thanks folks for all the conga-rats, configs and other assorted congratulations. It was more than I got from the fam:

Me, after dinging 50, to my wife: I know you don't really care, but Broadback got to level 50

My wife: *gives a face as if one of our cats pinched a loaf on our carpet*

My daughter was sleeping, my cats were, thankfully not pinching a loaf on the carpet. Very anti-climactic, but a 50 nonetheless.

Vixen - that's the best offer I've gotten in about 7 years (my daughter's six, you do the math )

Ulli - I will gladly forsake my share of provided cookies to you as long as I get a six pack of my favorite beer instead (currently Cricket Hill American Ale). We can toast, crumb to bottle, to the health of Ms. Liberty!

Jack - I was thinking Peacebringer, since I have a character concept that a PB would address rather than a Warshade. I might change my mind, though.

Mike - Thanks for the kind words. I still think I'm as much of a schmuck now as when I started, probably since I have been a lone wolf since day 1, but I'll try to work on that. You, Swan, and the rest of the Stars have been very patient with my anti-social behavior. I am not a social butterfly and I appreciate that you guys are okay with that. Thank you. And beer is good for you. Barley and hops are vegetables, no?

I'll shut up now. If anyone wants to chat, shoot me a PM (@Broadback) or if you see the wide arsed tanker himself in game, feel free to chat me up. Or, if you want to keep this thread running for thread jacking purposes, by all means. I have this awful habit of responding, so I'll undoubtedly be the one to kill this thread.

    Tanks (pun intended) again!

  12. Broadback has FINALLY made it to 50! Through computer issues, severe altitus, real life responsibilities, sheer frustration, Double B finally made it.
Thank you to Swan, Mike, and the rest of the Stars for giving me a place to hang my head and to Cimerora for just simply being there.
Let the PLing ... begin! Actually, a cold beer sounds good ... first things first ...

  13. Looking forward to even more positive news by the end of next week/early the following week.

Sending those Positive Vibes your way through the ether ...

    *gentle hug for Anna*

  14. My condolences to you, your hubby, and your friend's family.

I'll be around if you want to chat.

  15. I hear thread dancing burns off calories ...

Conga-rats on the weight loss and your commitment. Alas, I must say, I will not be wearing my bikini this summer ... wait a minute ...
  16. Keep up the good work, Noire! I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a couple years ago because I really let myself go, eating like I used to when I was in high school. At nearly 40 years old, I can't do that anymore and my body let me know that in no uncertain terms.

I'm not on as strict a diet as you appear to be, but I've still got to watch it. You'll really thank yourself in another 13 years when you get to my age, providing you stick with it. I tend to lapse ... bad Broadback!

Keep it up, cookie mistress. Maybe I can learn from your example.

  17. It's great to hear that your girl is doing well and is in good spirits.

First steps can be trying ... on the parent. My girl didn't start walking ... she skipped that and began running. I think I aged 10 years in the span of a week.

Keep up the great work, double SS. All my best to you, your wife, your girl and all the rest of your fam.

    BB
  18. It is great to hear positive news going into the holiday AND her b-day. Sending out a Broad hug to her and all of you guys through the ether.

Enjoy the holiday and birthday. Much love to you and yours.

  19. I'll continue to flex my good vibe muscles your way. As has been said in the past, the recuperative powers of children are truly remarkable.
Keep on keeping on. Guardian will continue to have your back.

  20. Okay, you made me well up again, but for good reasons this time.
It sounds as though things are swinging around towards the upside based on your recent visits. This is very good news. Your hat story sounds vaguely familiar - I can't put anything on my head without my girl taking it off. Apparently, I'm not allowed to have anything on my head, either. Luckily, I still have all my hair, otherwise I might be cold.
Keep hanging in there, hero. Ya'll seem to be making the right moves and it's nice to read.
  21. This is good news SS. The young truly have incredibly powerful recuperative powers and the love and energy you are giving to your girl must be helping tremendously.
I have to say, this has been on my mind ever since I read your post. I will certainly keep the positive mind flow going your way.
    All the best, always.
  22. I can imagine the emotions you are feeling right now. You and your family will be in my thoughts and I'll be sending as many positive vibes your way as I can muster.
Hang in there, hero. The sheer power of love can go a long way to help the healing.
